the ballistic knife concept reminds me of an anime in which a girl (skilled in sword fighting) uses a custom made samurai sword which has 2 or 3 "thrust holes" at the back of the blade near the tip. At the handle there's a trigger similar to a gun and a magazine slot. so the way it works is that when the girl presses the trigger, pressurized gas exits the "thrust holes" moves the sword rapidly in an arc motion by having the user as a pivot point. the pseudo physics of the weapon is pretty neat
