Chrysler only produced 155 race hemi Darts and Cudas combined in 68. While I have to admit I do drool over this car, I can build a Chevy that can keep up with it for ALOT less money. If you're lucky enough to find a "true" race hemi Dart or Cuda you couldn't afford it. Real ones sell in the 250-300k range. Clones will cost you around 75-85k. For that kind of cash I could build a streetable 10 second car and still have plenty of $ left over.

@SuperStockHEMI I must have touched a nerve. Where should I start? They were 'Cudas in 68. In Feb 68 Chrysler Corp released a statement to all dealers notifying them of the availability of this car with the BO29 body code and either 4 speed, code 393, or automatic, code 395. As far as the production numbers, that is correct as well. A little over half of the 155 I stated were Darts, the rest Cudas. The one at BJ was number 2 not 1 and sold for 242k. You're on the internet, do some research!!!

It wouldn't be that difficult to duplicate this car provided you could find a good straight 67-69 2-door hardtop Dart shell to build one out of. The problem is that they are getting much harder to find, especially ones that aren't rusted to smithereens. You might have to settle for one in poor condition and just spend the time to bring it back to life but the end result will certainly be worth it!!

Looks like a GTO show and everyone is loving their cars when all the sudden...IT shows up. The GTOs sit quietly and silently as the hemi idles through the show, praying they aren't asked to race. The hemi sees no worthy prey and coasts on down the street.
Muscle still rules the street and track my dad says he recalls looking at 68 or 69 dart at lake elmo dodge dealer that came brand new it primer with a full drag hemi for something like 2800 bucks and had a disclaimer as race only
My buddy had one of the 80 built. I rode in it 3 times and it was an "E" ticket ride everytime. He offeresd to let me drive it but I figured if I stacked it up I would be signing the deed to my house over. These things are animals. With all do respect, T-Bolts are too.

Dodge produced about 150 LO23 Darts and BO29 'Cudas for racing duty only. The noise is heavenly. I could listen to it all day long. Beautiful car . . .

when the debate always rages "what's the fastest production car ever built ?" the car you see here should be your answer. It was and is THE fastest prodction car in the 1/4mi that has ever been built. You can bitch and whine "no no, it was contracted to Hurst so it's not production" half true, while the cars were finished by Hurst, you could purchase them ONLY thru Dodge or Plymouth (Barracudas) dealerships. Obviously, they are RARE, just over 100 ever built. But it's the king.. period.

Nice car but a little harshed up for my taste. I'll take that red 64 GTO any day, but that Hemi car would be really cool too with a reasonable-looking set of back tires. Gotta love the sound of that Hemi, too.

Looks like a GTO show and everyone is loving their cars when all the sudden...IT shows up. The GTOs sit quietly and silently as the hemi idles through the show, praying they aren't asked to race. The hemi sees no worthy prey and coasts on down the street.

My buddy had one of the 80 built. I rode in it 3 times and it was an "E" ticket ride everytime. He offeresd to let me drive it but I figured if I stacked it up I would be signing the deed to my house over. These things are animals. With all do respect, T-Bolts are too.
