Johnny Contagious, you are a cinematic moron. This film was amazing! Poorly written?! This is how good Tarantino THINKS he is, with his time wasting scenes where characters talk about food and TV shows. With so few words, these characters EMOTE, they speak of things so driven to our core, it's magical. Worthless characters? The appeal and aim is that you probably know people that share these characteristics! If you didn't GET the film, fine, but don't slag off something you didn't understand!
@freddybeer Loosen your nuts, fuckstick. Firstly a 'cinematic moron' is grammatically incorrect for the point you're trying to make here, that implies a moron with cinematic qualities, which is actually kind of complimentary, if you think about it... if you're capable of lateral thinking, that is. As for the rest... words, perhaps for the first time in my life, almost fail me. Magical?! A collection of fuck-ups murder an innocent couple and we're expected to invest emotion in
this?! This pile of dog-eared, pathetic bullshit is deserving of nothing more than our derision. The very best gangster films, as exhibited by Scorcese, Coppola, the Coens, or even Raoul Walsh, if you want to go way back to a period you know fuck all about, offer a subtle insight into the essence of the male machismo. The only reason this inadequate pish speaks to you is because you are fundamentally lacking in all the nuances of a cultured film fan. In short, you're a cockend.
Quite possibly the worst American gangster film of modern cinema. A shabbily compiled series of poorly written vignettes with the most contrived dialogue in living memory - the manifestation of one of Tarantino's least interesting farts. This pales in significance to the film's biggest conceit: a bewilderingly arrogant attempt to elicit sympathy for a collection of characters who are unprecedented in their worthlessness. Give it a name? How about Ritchie-esque film-geek wankfest?
i love all the mafia gangster movies but i cant see past this as a gangster film. Its just sensational. Touching, funny, harsh, brutal and packed full of lines to quote. The acting is top notch too.
For those that "GET" this movie. Its a F********* masterpiece to me. Everyone of the few that have watched this know this scene and what it means.
This is up there in my top 10 of classic scene's to have ever happened. I remember watching this the very first time and this left me gutted. Garcia is amazing and Christopher lloyd was the MAN here. Brilliant !!!
I love this scene. I can only hope that one day I can look back at my life in the face of death and have no regrets because 'I did the things', just as Holden says. Boat Drinks.
Next to the birth of my kids, the four months I spent working on this in '93ish, are some of my fondest memories...
What a crew, what a cast, and (pardon me, as pulp - merely shock shit - doesn't hold a candle to this), what a family we became!!! So you "film geniuses" know (and yeah, I have my 1.75 degrees), pulp is superficial, where as Denver has incredible character study, and developement! Both great casts, but pulp is Corman fodder.. Keep trying to blow Tarrentino, you SC film whizzes!
@TommyDee78 i think yes, because he was describing things others only dream about, and his life was complete at this point, he was sick and dying anyway just my thoughts
this is so sad, when I think of this movie I think of this scene.....and when baby sinister tells Don Cheadle's chrarcter, 'will you shut the fuck up for 11 seconds?' lol
this is one of my favorite movies of all time. it came out around the same time as the usual suspects and was featured in a lot of the same magazine articles about the new face of indie crime movies, yet suspects got all the hype and this was ignored. i loved suspects as well but this should be a household name. excellent film!
i remember going to the cinema with my mates, all them years ago... it was a midnight showing....all of us, on pills ....loved up ....in tears .....its that speacial love you have with yor pals...and your special sayings and meaings
This film wasn't great.

@jonny you seem a very angry person. Relax a bit. Maybe one day you might have a sexual relationship with someone.

Christopher Lloyd is an amazing actor and as cool of a career as he's had I wish he'd had more opportunities to show his range.

Did Holden Really dance the foxtrot with a $2000 a night hooker in a Paris nightclub? I have my own opinion but want to know what others think.
