  • In response to you not trying to pronounce the name of Hiroshi Yamauchi, its pretty much pronounced like

    He-Ro-Shee Yam-ow-chee

I know i have too much time on my hands

  • @bullet50000 ha Thanks! With a background in linguistics I could have tried, but I was kind of doing this impromptu and I guess my brain said "do not botch this name." lol

  • 4:14 looks like the DS is a nod to the early Nintendo games

  • cool vid! u sexy beast

  • Hah, I had the NES Remote Controller. Unfortunately it only worked if you held it pointed directly at the sensor, leading to quickly tired arms. Besides that, the battery life sucked, and I'm glad they finally now have rechargeable controllers.

  • Dude, the "girlfriend" bit was comedy gold.

  • what's that song he's listening to when he's playing Zelda? i've heard it a long time ago but I can't remember the name.

  • my dad used to play this game and he beat it then he got this burned cd for it so he played on the game cube and right away he entered the code how come the code is so mezmorable?

  • i for one am a girl and love video games would prefer to do that than all the makeup shit and shopping blegh xP

Woulda been heaps cool to be a kid in the 80's =D

  • One of the many memories I have of gaming is when my older brother and his friends (4 or more at a time) would get together and play Super Punch Out all night just to try and beat each other's times, and some had opponents that only they really knew and were good against.

They played the shit out of that game and had near world-record times a long time before things like that really became public.

  • Good video.

  • i miss the nes dayz

  • :( Hey Dokken Rules! "Lesser Band" my ass! lol nice vid Goose keep em comin man :)

  • NES = G.O.A.T.

  • At 11:11, what was that glove called? I can't remember.

  • the power glove

  • 8:40, WE DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT!!!!

  • it growing trend that girls play video games more then the boys , usually the Sims2

  • mike minkoff looks like billy mays

  • i wish i was a kid in the late 80's early 90's, but at least i was a kid in the late 90's, with the super nes and n64

  • I was a kid in the late 70's(and still am;),nearly all my paper route money went into Space Invaders(1979)when i was 12,then Galaxian, Pacman and Galaga. Those were the days.

  • agreed. and, space invaders was from 1978. i still play that in chucke cheese.

  • Discard that last post, just saw the third installment.

  • This was released on my birthday last year and you said you'd make a 3, where the fuck is it man?

  • Word for word strong bad ripoff!

    Baagcht!!!

  • Actually, it isn't a word for word rip off. I did use the Z'Nuff joke. It's called an Homage my friend. I am a fan of theirs. I never claimed that one was my joke.

  • best quote EVER

"they metrosexuallized simon belmon, made mega man a putz and icarus the icaruss, and why did mother brain sound like a ghetto rat"

    classic stuff goose

  • whats the intro song?

  • The group is called Dismemberment Plan. Song is "What am I . . ."

  • It's called 'What Do You Want Me To Say?' from the album 'Emergency & I' on De Soto records.

    Great programme!

  • You are trying to say that education, knowledge

    ,writing skills,reading skills,studying,

reviewing class notes and getting efficient

grades in school is not important especially

when students take SAT in Junior year of High

    School.

  • nope. SATs are not really all that relevant. Maybe if you want a scholarship or to get into Brown so you can be an unemployed Brown graduate.

  • Is it best having a job as profesional gamer or harcore gamer and play video games for a living from 5 to 15 hours a day for living or

salary?Have you experienced it hard pushing

buttons and telling people how hard itis?

  • I have never been a game tester but I hear it is boring and tedious. So is programming anc coding. Unless you own the company or are the boss, it might be better to be a fan.

  • Too many memories in 2 videos. I remember Captain N and the Super Mario Brothers Super Show. NES, Sega, Coleco Vision ... the golden age indeed.

    sigh ...

  • i owned the sega an man i love it...every day a lil streets of rage an then some golden axe and of corse shinobi ^^

  • great memories!! I used to wake up every Saturday morning, as an 8 year old, and watch the Captain N/Super Mario 3 super show!!

  • i remember the legend of Zelda on the NES that game was kick ass back then i still have the cartridge but My NES broke or got messes up so now i cant play it and i never beat it i was close 2 beat Gannon but it never happened but anyways great vid

  • "Men ignoring women" lol we dubbed an FPS game The "girlfriend ignoring game" Thats funny that you mentioned that. Great Vid, thanks

  • who has a adventure vision ..plz message me if u sell it

  • dismemberment plan, nice choice.

  • rofl his girl friend

  • So.....What exactly DID that amulet do? <_<

  • Sega and the mega drive for me while i was growing up. But i live in england, and like you said, sega was more popular in europe than america. It was true too..everyone..i mean everyone..owned a mega drive. And of course, where theres sega..theres sonic! my life long love. Heh.

  • This isnt a history of video games! It's a history of your history with nintendo. Very disappointed.

  • I remember playing this really old Sega games, one with Michael Jackson running around killing monsters. However, if you started the console without any game in it, and punched in a code, you where able to play some kinda snail race game. Trying to remember the name of the console, but I'm lost. Perhaps you know what I'm talking about?

  • Man, those were the days: Going to the arcades to play was great. Modern online play sucks if you ask me.

  • In addition to what you said about Nintendo's licensing agreements. Nintendo also told your third parties that they could only put out 5 games a year. So third party companies had to figure out which games they were going to put out. So third parties had to pick the best 5 games.

  • Yes, I do not say that specifically in this video - but you are right.

  • So the wizard marked the end of the era? Makes sense, since the movie was like the power glove: It's sooo bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • these brief history videos are incredible Goose! whats the opening song to this video? It's killer.

  • The band is called Dismemberment Plan song is "What am I . . ."

  • Ah yes rockin' with dokken!!! These videos rock!!! Anyone who disagrees is smoking crack. I so remember ditching school to play nintendo. Oh yes the days of playing Castlevania,Contra,Super C, RC pro am etc. When you mentioned skipping school to play NES...That took me back. Thanks!!! Keep the vids coming...People like me will enjoy them. Mainly because we grew up in that era of gaming. Those who don't enjoy the videos..probably never played the classic systems of yesteryear.

  • I got a bit bored after the NES stuff because here in Europe, as you mention, it was all Sega. In school my friends and I were Sonic maniacs. Mario who?

Anyway, there's some useful information about game history here never the less so thank you.

  • i live in australia and all my freinds and family had a sega master system

And I was the only one with an NES and i loved it more than the master system as for the sega mega drive my brother got that and then i got a SNES. the reason why sega was more popular in europe and australia was because sega was released in europe before the NES was sega came across europe in 1986 and for some reason the NES arrived in 1987 and as for now sonic sux but

back in the day he was awesome.

  • Although technically available in 85 the Nintedo and sega didn't start catching on until 87. There really is a difference of almost 3 years between the 8 bit consoles.

  • This is a lousy history. Ok number 1.Don't compare precrash systems with post crash systems. You also have the vic 20 which is a computer as a game machine. After the video game crash of 83 everybody was buying commodore 64s and other computers nobody was interested in video game consoles.

  • One, I can compare what I choose to compare. Two, yes people bought Vic20's and 64's but the impact on video games themselves was not all that great. Name one trend or game that the Vic20 helped launch.

  • Ok wrong wrong wrong. I said you compared the vic 20 as a game machine which it's not its a computer. The vic 20 had the Scott adams text adventures which were later ported to other machines. My point was that for the 3 years in between the crash and the nes there was a computer boom which owned the market. You didn't just step off of colecovision and go buy the newly released Nes.

  • One. No, you are wrong. Two, I played the Scott adams adventures on the Vic20. I love them. Three - Does the title say Brief History of Computers? No. So, unless you can name a decent system between Coleco and Nintendo. Get off my channel. People were computing their asses of with the Vic20 . . .get out of here.

  • hay hay dudes wtf u guys talking bout i dunt get it

  • My first time beating Tyson was also by decision, and no one believed me either.

  • Ha I had a vetrex.

  • my experince with games that is always happens is if u spend more than 10min not advancing something breaks or ur hand herts

  • i enjoy ur vids dude.

  • God, I hated that damn Zelda cartoon. It was too annoying. Good video though ^.^

  • Not all girls are against or don't like video games. My young sister likes games. Although she's no gamer so if you were to talk to her about Mega Man, she'd only comment about the game itself but wouldn't even know about Mega Man himself. Say something about street fighter, she'd give a couple of comments about the characters, especially Ken, her fav. Say something about a new Zelda game, cover your ears cuz she would scream from joy. :D

  • You got the dokken and to a lesser extent znuff from strong bad didn't. Way to go. w00t.

  • sick u wer listening to seven by sunny day real estate

  • Great vids, man this brings back a nostalgia hit, like no other! I am 28 and grew up with all this stuff console and pc games of old, and loved it all! Now I am strickly pc games because they seem to be more advanced and mature, but I still love the old console games from atari/intellivison -- nintendo ending with ps1 After ps1 pcs got 3d cards and I never looked back! Keep making these! You have a knack for humor, you tell your opinions with out skewing the facts. Keep up the great work!

  • i learned alot dude.

  • awesome vid man i like it!

  • Your vids kick ass. Keep it up. You really know how to bring back them fond memories of Nintendo when it was absolutely huge.

  • I like your documentaries. I donno if it's intentional but your funny :D and you talk really laid back instead of sounding all stuck up professional.

  • sorry about your girlfriend man, lol.

  • awesome video dude. I actually learned alot.

  • Cool, I hope some day you can show actual game play from Odyssey, Channel F, and the first video games that ever came out.

    Thanks.

  • awesome vid, keep 'em comin
