Gerald Henderson is a great athlete, right now he is developing his mid range game so he can be a more complete player. And just because you stay longer doesn't mean you will fizzle out, Shane Battier stayed all four years and is a really good NBA player. And you really can't say that UNC would beat Duke if Ty Lawson was in the game, Duke was crazy behind the arch and I really think the only Carolina could have hanged with them that night was if Green and Ellington were shooting well.
There are some BEASTS from Duke playing in the NBA. ACT scores for students UNC 25 average as a university 26 and athletes are allowed to be a few notches lower. Duke requires a 29 and averages a 31.
On paper it requires that, but we know that if the standards can be bent for regular students (20% accepted on potential alumni giving) then it can be bent for the athletes. Remember, JR Reid and Scott Williams scored higher on the SAT than Laettner and Ferry. Now that doesn't change the numbers for the universities themselves, but don't tell me Duke athletes are better students because they go to Duke. Most of them major in sociology, a cupcake major at the school from what I've heard.
I know, I factored in that it could be bent for student athletes, but Tyler Hansbrough is not as smart as either Reid or Williams and Laettner and Ferry have become very successful outside of basketball, they are both highly educated. And just curious what were there SAT scores and a link please. I didn't say they were better students because they can major in cupcake things like art but not all of them do and even Duke's bent requirements are harder the UNC's normal from what I've read.

I agree Duke is two years away depends on many if's, whether Henderson and Singler stay, whether they get a point guard, and whether their big man develop. UNC will be ranked in the top ten next year. Thompson, Zeller, Ginyard and Ed Davis, they have alot of talent that is returning. Plus, do research on their incoming recruits, 3 of which will make an impact immediately. UNC reloads- they don't rebuild now that Roy is there recruiting.

Why shouldn't I hate Duke? It's supposed to be the standard of NCAA schools, and it can't make it out of the first round. The longer Gerald stays at Duke, the more likely he will fizzle out in the NBA. Statistically speaking, that's what Dukies do. Care to retort, ass?

Gerald Henderson is a great athlete, right now he is developing his mid range game so he can be a more complete player. And just because you stay longer doesn't mean you will fizzle out, Shane Battier stayed all four years and is a really good NBA player. And you really can't say that UNC would beat Duke if Ty Lawson was in the game, Duke was crazy behind the arch and I really think the only Carolina could have hanged with them that night was if Green and Ellington were shooting well.

There are some BEASTS from Duke playing in the NBA. Elton Brand, Corey Maggeti(can't spell it but w/e), Shane Battier, Grant Hill used to be one of the best in the league before injuries, Luol Deng is pretty good....You're just a blind hater for some reason(because Duke is good, you wouldn't give a **** if they sucked). They havn't had the players the last few years though, but idk how you can brag about it, they can't help which schools guys want to go to. But they do great with what they have.

Given the big list of Dukies you haven't mentioned that were LOTTERY PICKS that fizzled out, I will stand with my statement that statistically speaking, Dukies make bad NBA players. Also If Duke is so great, why have they only made it to one final four in the past seven seasons? Sounds like some blind bandwagon loyalty from 2001 to me.

Why would I mention the lottery picks? You act as if every player on your favorite team was 1st team all NBA...Not every player is good on any team, and like I said we can't help which players we get, we can only try to get the max out of what we have(which we do a good job with...like say Redick who can really only shoot but we turned him into a crazy weapon).
And what do you want me to do, like a different team because Duke hasn't won since 2001? I grew up liking them, get over it.

Don't make me laugh. Duke players can't even play in the D-league. They all go to Europe. Nate James? 2000 ACC POY Chris Carawell? William Avery? Please. As for top 100, I assume you mean recruits. Do I need to remind you about how Duke recruits are consistently getting worse? Josh McBob, Greg Phallus and the list goes on. Duke recruits are usually overrated, and only a homer would disagree given the performance since 2001.

that's funny sean Dockery and McRoberts did. Avery didn't even try the D league he went immediatly to the NBA his biggest issue is he left to early K even told him he needed to stay. Chris Carawell was good in college yes but a perfect example of another kind of player that Duke recruits good college players that actually make grades and will stay more then a year in college I think Duke has a habit of making there players overrated because of the media hype. top 100 that was listed the other day on ESPN there is no way I would meen recruits UNC has a way better recruiting class coming in then Duke as much as I hate to say it. And it's not that Duke's recruits have been considerably worse it's that we keep picking up guys thats biggest strong suit is upside potential which meens they will either be great or fail if you actually look at there highschool numbers they are not all that great and as far as Paulus is concerned I don't see a problem

Not only that I think Duke has had the players just not there at the right time. And Last year we would have been significantly better had McRoberts stayed because he ran the floor so well for a big guy he would have been perfect in K's new style of offense and Duke still has lacked a big man that's there biggest problem.

First and foremost, learn how to use the words "their" "there" and "they're" and how to spell the word "mean". Secondly, ESPN may have more Dukies in the NBA top 100, but UNC still has more current All-Stars (Wallace, Jamison and Carter) compared to Duke's Boozer.
Secondly, your Carawell story is laughable. Players don't stay to make good grades. They stay to improve draft chances if need it be. Carawell was simply le suck. Also, I agree that Duke goes after players who are in for the long...

Ok and what does Henderson and Lawson have to do with this convo I thought we were talking about the NBA anyway yah I will say that but I don't think last year whether or not Lawson played UNC would have won. Duke was in the prime of there season UNC was struggleing for a bit Green and Ellington couln't buy a point. And Zoubeck was out not that he is a significant player but he played great against Hansbrough there first meeting his freshmen year and if you recall Hansbrough had the big game

Well, your first statement might be true, but your second is wrong. Yeah, Henderson is probably the best athlete, but even Danny Green has better NBA potential than he does. Athletes come and go, but someone who is good at being a jack of all trades like Green is a sixth man that any NBA team could use.

I didn't say Carawell was around for the grades I said he was a perfect example of the kind of players Duke recruits not the best of the best because they have to make good grades to go to Duke that's way it's hard to recruit at Duke and as far as the there and meen thing I didn't really think you would care that much about it so I generally pay no attention to it. And Carter was not a all star last year and Wallace was a replacement so there is 2 ot the three. And I'm glad Jamison was hes great

well yah that's the vid but it was a little random but anyway I could see Dockery which had tried excessive times to get into Duke and barely made it but Dahntay Jones was highly intellegent he scored a 31 on his ACT and had a 3.7 GPA and he was a transfer anyway, and as far as Christian Laettner is concerned I don't know about his academics but he is extremely smart. He doesn't even play anymore but he makes huge amounts of money through business. So if you don't think it's hard to recruit at

Duke then your in denial or smokin crack you ACT scores have to be acceptionally higher and they have to have all kinds of excess activity with a great GPA average that's why they can't offer every player out there. Not saying they would have landed him anyway but Hansbrough was interested in Duke but they had to stop recruiting him because of academics and you can tell all this stuff about how smart he is but you won't change my mind I live 35 mis from poplar bluff I know people who know him

get my facts right?? that's was possibly the stupidest post ever, what makes you think Tyler takes any hard classes at UNC, basketball players generally don't they generally just get a basic degree, you do realize he could take just bs classes long enough to stay in for 4 years. ACT scores for students UNC 25 average as a university 26 and athletes are allowed to be a few notches lower. Duke requires a 29 and averages a 31.

On paper it requires that, but we know that if the standards can be bent for regular students (20% accepted on potential alumni giving) then it can be bent for the athletes. Remember, JR Reid and Scott Williams scored higher on the SAT than Laettner and Ferry. Now that doesn't change the numbers for the universities themselves, but don't tell me Duke athletes are better students because they go to Duke. Most of them major in sociology, a cupcake major at the school from what I've heard.

I know, I factored in that it could be bent for student athletes, but Tyler Hansbrough is not as smart as either Reid or Williams and Laettner and Ferry have become very successful outside of basketball, they are both highly educated. And just curious what were there SAT scores and a link please. I didn't say they were better students because they can major in cupcake things like art but not all of them do and even Duke's bent requirements are harder the UNC's normal from what I've read.

After a Duke/UNC game in 1989, Dean Smith, who knew the SAT scores of all those players since he recruited them, revealed that Reid and Williams had a higher combined score than Ferry and Laettner after seeing a Cameron Crazies sign that read "JR can't reid." The incident is actually common knowledge. What isn't common knowledge is this harder bent of which you speak that's at Duke. Perhaps you should show ME a link that proves your assertions.

combined being if you add the scores together and how can argue that, that is common knowledge I can pretty well say I could ask about any heel fan and they wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about if I told them this story. And as far as a link I'm sure I could find several but I'll just say go to both school websites and look at the requirments for both schools you will find the ACT scores standards are pretty far apart. I'm not going to say that I believe this kids are better more educated

Well, not quite. Relative to other public universities, UNC is like an Ivy league school but not on par with the Ivy League. And I'm not dissing Carolina. I'm a student there, but I've gotta be objective. Nice complement though.
