@sqccccccccc According the short lived Alien RPG the Alien can actually 'feed' on anything, organic or not. Not the best of sources, though not sure where you would get this info otherwise.
@Buxxby Well in the film there is a refrence somewhere made by parker that some fuses went off. Silicon, iron and muck in the air vents would be just enough to sustain it's massive growth. But it would require enourmous quantites of energy to grow that fast in such short time. I know, that thing must have about 6 litres of acid in it... being a reliable power source... but where could it find enough elements to manifacture such quantitites of acid? Batteries? Industrial waste?
@Buxxby And there is no indication that that thing ate the crew's supplies. It must have resided somewhere in the sewer and bins of the ship for all i know. It could also have it's body filled with nano thech, explaining how quickly it was able to analyse Kane's physiology, induced the man into a deep coma with right drug with the right doses, incorporate & metabolise metals at a rate which exess any known living things and grow into one of the meanest science fiction killing machine.
Panic is setting in... If they knew what they were up against I bet Narcissus would have been missing quite fast... ala get to the choppa kind of thing. Cattle rod.. but who are the cattle?
(Alien1979) Ridley Scott + John Hurt + and a score by Jerry Goldsmith performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra = the most horrific film made. The best film made. I still have Nightmares about being on the Nostromo. You can not copy this movie or chop it up (but they try). It's art. I'm a fan of the age where real movies were made. (the 26 thumbs down belong to Shia LaBeouf fans...may you live forever) P.S. you still have to see James Cameron's Aliens AND John Carpenter's the Thing.
Interesting scene. I can see why it was cut, but I do like the fact that it brings to light a bit more of the friction that exists between certain members of the crew (i.e. Parker/Brett vs everyone else).
Of the deleted scenes this one was clearly one that was the least needed. It treat the audience like idiots and explains what they are up to next. Then again today we have some movies in which some annoying sidekick explains everything to the audience who clearly can't draw their own conclusions today.
@dtmbcorp This is the only horror film I actually cried to and ran into my moms room. Even now, it still scares me quite a bit. This is why Ridley should direct. Even the second one scared me a lil bit thought it was a bit more actiony
Eighth passenger...eighth passenger...But weren't their only seven crew memebers?...Oh wait..right. >XP

20 mins to an hour is long enough for an alien to full grow.
ClassicalSquaresoft 2 months ago
@ClassicalSquaresoft And more importantly what does it feed off in order to grow.

This is much better than the alternate used in the fanedit virtual print version.

I don't understand they bothered cutting this scene out. It very much moves the story. How funny that is.

The scene is full of tension, I almost wish they would've kept it

Damn, you just got about 35% of Brett's total dialogue in this scene alone. LOL

A fine example that all improve is not good. No brainer not to include this scene.

@TypicalJAFO and it allows for noticeable "grow time" for the alien.
