DAMN that engines huge. Steam engines look cooler than diesals because if the smoke, steam, drivers, plus the rarity and the amount of work that has to be put into them makes them unique.
My dad is 88 years old. He started out on the Illinois Central Railroad as a fireman on steam engines. He retired as the engineer of the City of New Orleans between Champaign and Centralia, Illinois. Do these steam engine guys have concern about mesothelioma due to asbestos in the firebox? My dad has that kind of cancer from his fireman days.
Well I belive you, my grandfather used to run them for the b&o in the 1940-1950s era.
Keeping the engine takes a lot of work dont it, though how exacting is running it on the haul, and I did not know it took soo much resources to run even just one mile.
chicago eastward to ohio I belive, no one around now that would know mom aunt and grandma his wife all passed away. we have a divison point in town but I dont want to say where on youtube there are too many people that would love to track me down for things I said to them on youtube.
Is this true that they are trying to get 265 up here from Illinois? Fuck the NRM they can kiss my ASS.... I hope they can buy a engine this time, not lease one so we donn't have to got threw this again.
Great video. Very informative.

@DrPepper9961 Almost all operating steam engines have had asbestos abatement. Asbestos would bring a huge liability concern.

Why is the water level going up and down?
Jemalacane 1 year ago
@Jemalacane Because the water boiling in the boiler makes it seem that its going up and down.

It's a shame that this drop dead diva is no longer running because of the pussies at the National Railroad Museum.

well, at least 265 will be replacing her...and I agree....stupid move on the part of NRM....they will regret it, like xanterra with the GCRY

Did you say 265 will be restored?
736berkshire 2 years ago
Most likely....that, or...a CB&Q Hudson...although I would rather have 265 running
