What he had - a sense of rhythm and intonation - was what the group needed. Cash also made mention of the fact the Luther eventually developed into a formidable picker...something the rest of us (for the most part) were denied hearing, because by that time, Cash's sparse, unvarnished sound had developed beyond a trademark and into a franchise.
