This debate annoys me, so what if he can't defend a takedown or wrestle? Let him come in and play to his strengths, that was what mixed martial arts tournaments were designed for. He says he can come in and win as a boxer in MMA, there's no rule stating what arts you must have.

i thinks is both ways. A Boxing guy would have to train to go to MMA and a MMA guy would have to train to go to boxing. If your a fighter your a fighter, MMA and Boxing really shouldn't be enemies. Strikers in both sports could easily convert. Whats better is strikers vs wrestlers. This is coming from a boxer.
What he's basically saying is that the MMA promoters should look at this as a money making endeavor for long term because like him or not, Mayweather's a draw. He just doesn't want to bring in Floyd for a one time bout, he wants to build him up as a credible competitor that can finally have a blow-off match with an MMA guy who's at his peak, in terms of skill and popularity. Its a proven fact that boxing is a more dangerous sport than MMA for the reason the only objective is to knock the opponent out. MMA you can win by submission, wrestling, KO etc but boxing involves extremely powerful people hitting each other across the head. Unlike the millions of other cells in the body it is only brain cells that don't repair themselves and once damaged thats it. Thats why boxers when they are older lose speech etc because as you age you lose brain cells naturally too

I hate this debate. A boxer would kill an mma guy in a boxing match, and mma guy would (and has) kill a boxer in an mma fight. Floyd is one of the best of all time but he would not be able to use his incredible ability because of leg kicks, takedowns and the clinch. Things that take years to master how to defend properly

A lot of people say what you just commented on. But in a FIGHT you use whatever knowledge you have to beat your opponent. If mayweather and a mma fighter were to have a fight to see who would win in a fight, would you really expect the mma guy to just use his hands and drop years of training on other aspects of the game? NO! In a fight you bring whatever you got. Mayweather has his incredible hands, but a mma fighter is an all around fighter.
So it makes sense for a boxing guy to fight in the ufc rather than a ufc guy to fight under boxing rules b/c a boxing guy can do everything he can and a mma fighter can do everything he can.

Any boxer who thinks they can just box their way through MMA is dreaming. It's a shame it all has to come to this 'who can beat who' 'MMA vs BOXING' bullshit, the two sports are so technically different. But nobody can take away what boxing has given us from the mega stars like Tyson and Ali, and even Naseem. MMA will never have that , so lets just get the fuck on with our sports and make money.

Its a proven fact that boxing is a more dangerous sport than MMA for the reason the only objective is to knock the opponent out. MMA you can win by submission, wrestling, KO etc but boxing involves extremely powerful people hitting each other across the head. Unlike the millions of other cells in the body it is only brain cells that don't repair themselves and once damaged thats it. Thats why boxers when they are older lose speech etc because as you age you lose brain cells naturally too

I hate this debate. A boxer would kill an mma guy in a boxing match, and mma guy would (and has) kill a boxer in an mma fight. you can bitch at it each other about which is tougher all you like the debate will always be there but these are two completely different sports and AREN'T comparable just as fighters from different generations aren't (e.g tyson ali) The switch from either to the other is hard as every aspect is different as you use different muscle groups in the two sports, this is what mayweather could struggle with to begin with.

haha wtf !!!!!!!!! mma is by far tougher than boxing believe me ive played rugby since i was 11 to 18 of age then quit to do boxing wich i got into straight away , after about a year of doin that i went and started doin some brazilian jujitsu, kick boxing , and general ground work and straight away i was struggling to keep up with all the training but i continued and soldiered on , few months of doin all that mma training i got ripped and as fit as ive ever been ,

nah! its really up 2 the fighters man, its how the us their style, boxing= stays wear he is strong w/ its punches, using foot work, strike with punch in and out style, dont let mma fighter grab the boxer, and boxer will be ok, mma? well stey away her a boxers strong part punches, try 2use knee kick 2hit da boxers feat weaken it, & try to come in for the grapple, but not try 2trade punches w/ da boxer coz mma will loose, son each fighter has advantage and disadvantage, dats all.

@MMAfighter1555 i agree, if it goes to the ground mayweather would lose. I have huge repect for all fighters that enter the ring. When the guys stay on there feet its great but once on the ground it lacks spectator sport even though it takes huge energy to wrestle.

@TheJeank007 chuck liddell also had 1 of the best takedown defences in mma. if mayweather went to 155 in UFC he'd get killed by the likes of grey maynard, frankie edgar, BJ penn, anthony pettis, clay guida, ben henderson and jim miller. if he was at 145 he'd get beat by the likes of kenny florian, jose aldo, diego nunes, mark hominick and chad mendes. mayweather hasnt got what it takes to survive against a true mma fighter.
