I see so much better application for these, massive transports for those that can afford the time balanced with Virgin Galactic that would/could cater to orbital travel and get you there "yesterday". Furthermore although these could do significant damage there would not be the same danger of an airliner that travels up near 600 mph. And there could be some sort of security on board + as solid as it looks, it would be rather hard to bring it down. (there's always exceptions I know) I like it!
I look forward to a future with these (and given all the new fibers in developement, plastic armour included, these things could also be bullet-proof to boot!)
You must be talking about lenticulated polycarbon disks (ever hear of "Dragon Skin"?). Yes that sounds cool (and the helium is likely stored in cells, meaning that even shells wouldn't down it right away).
Blended-wing/fuselage airship-plane hybrids look like the right direction for mass transportation, able to carry more passengers/cargos with less energy expendature...

¿Han pensado en qué le pasará al dirigible cuando tenga que enfrentar una tormenta? peor que un barco a merced de una tormenta.
