I was waiting to get on a BA flight to Heathrow when this thing came through... I have footage of it on a hard drive somewhere... We probably walked right by each other. crazy Texas weather.

I have a degree in meteorology, but don't use it. It does, however, help me appreciate these fantastic phenomena. :-)

I was there a few years ago when a tornado went across the airport. It didn't touch down though. I could hardly see the 777 at the gate next to mine it was raining so hard.

Did any planes leave at the time?

Yes. Amazingly this monster brought very little lightning and delay. You can see ground ops as the system approached. As I recall, there was only a brief interruption.
