Some of the niggles he points out are only present in the british right side driver models, like the space for the driver pedals, and the way the refiniture at the bottom are done is different on my model bought in Germany. I had no problems on the stereo or bluetooth either, might be a model specific thing. Furthermore the best part of this car like any other is the engine, I hve the Quadrifoglio verde and its a MONSTER, absolutely love the performance.

I'm shocked, there's so many negative comments. It's pathetic. He's actually giving some seriously valid points here. If you want the car, then buy it, you'll probably regret it because let's face it, Alfa has some shit reliability.....but he's right.
the engine on the 2010-present Alfa Romeo Giulietta Engine Petrol: 1.4 L I4 Turbo 1.4 L I4 Turbo Multiair 1.75 L I4 Turbo Diesel: 1.6 L I4 JTDM 2.0 L I4 JTDM LPG: 1.4 L I4 Turbo
I love Alfa Romeo. We have a 159 SW turbo and I love driving it. I simply love it! Sure, it has its niggles and problems (mostly electrical) but when it works.... oh yeah<3
to 1:40 he did exactly what I did testing this car, nothing but positive thoughts and desperately trying to keep the impartial poker face on so the dealer didn’t realise it had already sold itself. DNA OK M8, leave it in “D” & good luck in stop start town driving and snow with a hair trigger throttle. This car has tools, use them, why not limit performance where appropriate?
3:00 and on is clutching at straws for things to not like. I usupect a big ad budget was in danger of getting upset
Did we drive the same car? Fuck the bluetooth, fuck the sidepockets, fuck teh switches! The car looks so good I want to go with it in bed, the steering and handling is amazing, i mean really amazing! And motor, dont get me started about it. It sounds like SEX. I drove today the most powerful version of the Giulietta and I fell in love with it. I went from being somewhat of a downer, (partially due to this hater here making an unfair review) to an ADDICT!
u wont call ur self a petrol head untill u buy atleast one alfa romeo,-Jeremy Clarkson. & the Giulietta is good reason to buy an Alfa Romeo.. Nice car, c`mon all cars has some downsides, if u like it u r going to get it.Enough said.
@bachi411 No, it shows I understand design. Anyone who thinks this bland, bulbous, ungainly, mass produced piece of junk is beautiful is displaying their lack of understanding. But hey, if you like it, you enjoy it. I suppose it's why so many people like Big Macs....lots of people appreciate crap!
@whitbyjet65 u seriously need a doctor..this car is beautifull...think yourself everyone is admiring its beauty except you..i m saying there z a big prob
@whitbyjet65 Ah a comment coming from somebody who thinks the triumph stag is the most beautiful car ever made.
Ah the Stag, i owned one. Breaking down was the only thing reliable on this car. Fortunately i didn't pay much for it. The only satisfaction it gave me was that one time i slammed a sledgehammer through the bonnet. I sold it to a scrapper and watched it being pressed into a nice cube. Howcome you are not a car designer you seem to know what cars are good looking and which are not! lol
@marune1975 Oh dear! You're clearly one of those men who gains confidence through cars & I've obviously punctured your fragile ego. Please point to the part where I said the Triumph Stag was reliable. I'm not a car designer because I'm an illustrator & artist. I'm sorry but most Alfas have clumsy, hamfisted, vulgar styling.
@marune1975 I'm still waiting for you to point to the part where I said the Stag was reliable. So enlighten me. Tell me what's 'beautiful' about this computer designed blob with its bloated flanks, big crass ugly front spoiler, awkward headlights & bland overall design. It's hardly groundbreaking, is it? Looks like every other car in its class (apart from the ludicrously oversized front badge).
@marune1975 Don't answer a question with a question. It's a very trite response. You obvioulsy can't explain why the Alfa is beautiful because it isn't. It's just another computer designed blob. It's like a domestic appliance like a fridge or a washing machine. Seen it all before. By the way, I've owned an Alfa GTV. It was the most unreliable car I've ever owned.
@marune1975 I never once suggested the Stag was reliable. You brought up reliability. Besides, the Stag was a car of the 70s. The GTV I had was a 90s model. It had two decades on the Stag but it was woeful. I also owned a 70s GTV (chrome bumper model). That car looked good but its dynamics were poor for the price. Anyway if you're happy in a butt ugly car, I'm happy for you.
As for the your shin rubbing against the center console - yes, it does touch, but not to such an extent that it would become annoying.
Right hand drivers (as in England and Australia) have complained about the lack of a foot rest for your left leg. I guess that is only a problem in right hand models since the left hand models do have those.
Build quality is overall excellent and the car is beatiful inside and out.
The ride is very good, and overall - i was impressed.
The claim about your head touching the roof when you jack up the seat is ridiculous... who would jack up the seat that much other than a very short person who's head would obviously NOT touch the roof.
As for the back seat - yes, the roof line is low - but i am 185 cm (6'1") and i had no problems in the back seat whatsoever.
you will have to treat the car with respect in fact treat it like exotica because in the real world they are very fragile and out of warranty cost a bomb to keep going
Lol, what a way to mistreat a car like this... you must at least pay respect for the car they've given to you to review. The car is gorgoeus and the interior feels very upscale and well made. Maybe ther is something wrong with you...
@ademar9988 Fiat saved Alfa, maybe for it was better if they went bankrupt and disappeared, or went to VW and had the same engines and designs for every single model, yes that would have been better.
Skoda's turn heads for the WRONG reasons -- hideous looking budget cars that make us want to puke...very gross cars from a very embarrassing brand !!
Now Alfa's turn heads for the RIGHT reasons -- Stylish and desireable, cars that make you feel good and proud to say you own - just ask any TRUE Alfa owner - NOT some jealous Skoda owner - they can only dream of affording one of these beauties...I mean, "I drive a sexy Alfa Giulietta" sounds far more respectable than "I drive a dull Skoda Yeti" !!
How much did VW paid to you? Every other test talks grate things about this car.. you just talk s*** about it... it's to obvious you're not being objective.
@MrRusthater Ha ha! Only an English could dislike this car. Cause you are simply jealous that this car is not English! It's very beautiful, comfortable and enjoyable, as many Alfa. Sorry, but you don't know what a real car is...
@GamerAndReviewer Well of course he doesn't - he drives a Skoda Fabia - seriously - a dull granny wagon with an embarrassing badge! He's been trolling Alfa videos for months the jealous fool. Everyone knows - Skoda is a nasty budget VW brand, picked by balding old men who can't afford a VW. Alfas are picked by enthusiasts. The poor cretin wouldn't know style if it slapped him in his wrinkled old face lol - What self respecting person buys a Skoda Labia ffs?? Alfa is far superior in every way :)
@GamerAndReviewer I'd never buy English car as long as I have a hole in my arse. They are too much like Alfas etc - shit. That's why all english car companies went bust - they made crap rustbuckets, bought only by sales reps and fleet managers at HUGE discounts.I drive a £16500 Skoda Fabia vRS, fun, very fast, turns heads, very reliable. Each to their own. I feel good in my car, I couldnt feel good in an alfa or a fiat.In fact, i HATED my fiat not so bravo cos it was so unreliable.
It reminds me of a Jeremy-Clarkson quote about the Maserati Quattroporte:
"Owning this car is like owning a two-year old child. Really annoying for a lot of the time, but if someone tries to take it away from you, you kill them..."
In this review he was rather biased compared to others. Who would jack the seats that high? The interior is unique and at least they had balls to make it. If you want to be unique get an Alfa; if you want to be the rest then get another car. I know this car will sell in North America.
Great review, thanks, but must accept that alfa's is simply beutiful, and doesn't matter that insignificant bad points of view. Instead, only turn your head and get an spectacular alfa's design.
I actually own one of these and i can say whats what. His comments about the interior were quite successful except from the criticism about space provided for the heads of the front passenger.I can t understand why pointing out the dna system as a bad one.As far as i am concerned in d mode the steering is impressive and not so fake as presented. In fact because of the dual pinion innovation this steering doesnt feel electrical at all ,Finally,N mode improves consumption, A traction when needed
I bought this car in january and received it in march and all I gotta say is it drives wonderful! Best FWD steering car in it's class and it looks amazing from any angle. People actually turn their heads when they see you down the street and you will NEVER get that with a Golf Astra or Focus.
There are other brands that have buttons on the dashboard which do nothing only if you bought the optional stuff. This guy is a whiner that's all. You don't buy an alfa because the buttons do stuff. ;)
The Giulietta is a beautiful hatch but only with 18"rims and sport setup otherwise with 16" and normal setup the side view look a bit fat. Aniway is beautiful.
The Giulietta, like many recent Alphas, is a schizophrenic car: trying to be both the "true driver's" sports car (to honor the brand and please their followers) AND a semi-practical family hatchback (to achieve some good selling figures). Fails to be really good at either. The review is typical CarBuyer: brief, broad, objective, excellent!
Well kid gimme an Alfa Romeo Giuletta, and like every one has there own view it's called having an opinion, the mk6 Golf and all of them vw are not as brilliant as they were, compard to the likes of the vw golf mk1 which u could drive the hell out of and still they would go for a pretty long time. Oh the Giuletta is not out that long so just give the Giuletta a break, the Mito is doing really well in the U.K so relax on the Alfa Brand alright. Alfa like B.M.W are a premium brand
I have to mention, for the people that compares the giulietta with a subaru tribeca, that this car was one of the finalist of the price "World Car Design of the Year" with Ferrari 458 and Aston Martin rapide...
have a less desirable badge than a vw one which mean that the giulettas price will drop way more than a golfs one come resale time
and alfas are known to break down much more frequently than golfs unless u take extreme care of ur car wheras in the golf u just drive it and not have to worry that it might break down
maybe thats why the golf is overrated because it is better
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@u1435 Be honest. This car´s design is it´s best quality (if not the only one). In every other aspect it´s average at best. Giulietta can´t quite match up quality of for example VW Scirocco, BMW 1 series, Audi A3, Volvo C30...
@TommygunRI I am being honest. It's not just about quality. What about style, safety, features etc.? The Giulietta looks far more sytlish than a VW Scirocco (hideous bloated ass) and is probably just as reliable. The Audi A3 and BMW 1-series are dull. Giulietta is the safest car in it's class. I would take looks and safety over percieved quality anytime.
@sammni Oh your such a narrow minded bigot. I bet you've never had an Alfa. They don't fall apart. Mine have NEVER broken down. From my experience, a VW Golf is more likely to break down and that car is DULL. Anyway I would take style, safety and dynamics over "reliability" anyday.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@u1435 Am bigoted ? lol. Ive never owned a ALFA my brother did and guess what its in his drive with the clutch hanging outta it. AM guessing you own a Alfa and am not gonna get into a fight with yya. Just go and look at every survey done in the past 10years. You find Alfa in top 10 on ANY let me know. Yeah great to buy a car that doesnt drive. Nice graden ornament lol. YOU MUG
@sammni Haha your the MUG. 1st- you've never had an Alfa, so can't judge...2nd- JD Power Survey 2011; Alfa Romeo top 10 manufacturer for customer satisfaction. FACT. Now give yourself time to digest that you retarded fool. Like I said before, ALL of my Alfa's have been perfection. You brother must be one unlucky sod. Thats if I were to believe you anyway. Knob head.
@u1435 this guy is the best reviewer imo. probably you love alfa romeos and hate it when someone ses things bad about them. although i do think he made it sound a bit worse than it actually is on this review.
@10tenable Well I feel more qualified to pass judgement because i've actually got one. It's well built, decent size and best in class safety. I just dont think people should pass this car based on some idiots opinion. If you feel his opinion is the truth without even trying it yourself, then your more of an idiot.
@u1435 you know it's a good thing to stop normal person to buy alfa romeo, other wise alfa will become vw or bmw driven by idiots. Alfa is special! And we are special! Only true patrol heads and alfa lovers drive alfa romeo! Good work Mat!!
@u1435 How is this a bad review? He just pointed out some of the design faults, but the guilietta is probably the best compact. His reviews are fantastic.
I loved this car's design... but he's right when he says its as though Alfa are trying to put you off this car with the irritations in the interior and build quality... sad... not worth risking as a long term purchase... I'm going to revert to the plain but practical and well fit Golf...
Another thing he doesn't mention... for right hand drive models of the Giulietta there is no left footrest next to the clutch (whereas for LHD there is)... and this is just not acceptable for me...
What happened to good old N/A 2.0 petrol engines? :/ When you could just rev it and rev it and rev it and it worked for ages. Higher you went, better it would be. And you didn't had to worry about turbine temperature and milage you made... Those cars lasted for 20 years and 500.000 km. Now this, little turbine engines won't last even 10 years. I want to go back to 1999 or even more.
I think Alfa Looks are very overrated. They end up looking a but naff after 2 years. Engines are good. 1.4 ltr Turbo with 50mpg? Ish' don't think so buddy. Basically a Fiat is a Cadbury's flake and an Alpha is the Easter egg Version.
Looks a lot like the Hyundai Veloster. Since Alpha Romeo is part of Fiat/Chrysler, why are they not selling them in their biggest market, North America, instead of the fat thirsty Dodge Caliber?
You are the best. Very honest review as usual. But somehow I was always ready to forgive and forget all the alfas downsides. There is somethig special about this cars. Maybe it is only romantic history. Maybe it is that sense you are driving something made in old passion and fashio way, more "artigianale" (crafted) rathet then screw down by robots and very nice and boring people..
Good performance, stunning design, and sloppy reliability make an alfa what it is. Infact I would be disappointed if the car came out all german inside. It wouldn't be an alfa romeo!
@koolyman yes becasue the Germans from VW and Audi and BMW and Mercedes make VERY reliable cars...... Hahaha, VW and Audi have laughable reliability and BMW has quite a few engine issues as well as Mercedes. The newer Alfas have actually improved quite a bit on reliability.
@AdrianC12345 I get you. The thing about cars though is there are two ends of the scale. You have cars like the toyota corolla which traditionally is very, very reliable, but very, very boring. The other end is Alfa Romeos and other italian cars which aren't reliable, but have the passion! I know I am sounding weird but it scares me to think if they actually made a reliable car, it might lose it's character, soul and identity! lol I know xD weird.
Alfa as always absolutely stunning to look at, you would like to own one for its passion! But all those small problems.. you know it break and it will cost :(
One spends most of his time inside the car, not looking at it. The interior should be the one towards which most of the attention is focused. That colour doesn't really make it stand out from the crowd, but the design is so-so. The engines are great though.
I beg to driffer. It looks terrible. The exterior is a mix of new Vauxhall Astra with old Subaru Tribeca. And the interior is tacky and badly put together.

A lot of dated comments here from people who have never owned an Alfa.
I have 2 early 2000 modela and in six years have had no more electrical problems than i had with my Audis.
My sportwagon is now 12yrs old and not a speck of rust. Looks like a 3 yr old car.

Lennon578 8 months ago
I have to mention, for the people that compares the giulietta with a subaru tribeca, that this car was one of the finalist of the price "World Car Design of the Year" with Ferrari 458 and Aston Martin rapide...

Gimme an Giuletta instead of a Golf. Golf's are overrated and the Giuletta has a higher Euro NCAP rating than the Golf
Lennon578 8 months ago 22
@Lennon578 giulettas cost way more than golf
have a less desirable badge than a vw one which mean that the giulettas price will drop way more than a golfs one come resale time
and alfas are known to break down much more frequently than golfs unless u take extreme care of ur car wheras in the golf u just drive it and not have to worry that it might break down
maybe thats why the golf is overrated because it is better

@u1435 Be honest. This car´s design is it´s best quality (if not the only one). In every other aspect it´s average at best. Giulietta can´t quite match up quality of for example VW Scirocco, BMW 1 series, Audi A3, Volvo C30...
TommygunRI 8 months ago
@TommygunRI I am being honest. It's not just about quality. What about style, safety, features etc.? The Giulietta looks far more sytlish than a VW Scirocco (hideous bloated ass) and is probably just as reliable. The Audi A3 and BMW 1-series are dull. Giulietta is the safest car in it's class. I would take looks and safety over percieved quality anytime.

sammni 8 months ago
@sammni Oh your such a narrow minded bigot. I bet you've never had an Alfa. They don't fall apart. Mine have NEVER broken down. From my experience, a VW Golf is more likely to break down and that car is DULL. Anyway I would take style, safety and dynamics over "reliability" anyday.

YOU MUG
sammni 8 months ago
@sammni Haha your the MUG. 1st- you've never had an Alfa, so can't judge...2nd- JD Power Survey 2011; Alfa Romeo top 10 manufacturer for customer satisfaction. FACT. @u1435 this guy is the best reviewer imo. probably you love alfa romeos and hate it when someone ses things bad about them. although i do think he made it sound a bit worse than it actually is on this review.
LOLAG3S 8 months ago
@u1435 He is telling only the truth. What should he say? Is best build, most practical and most spaciouse, even if it isn't, just to make you happy?
10tenable 8 months ago
@10tenable Well I feel more qualified to pass judgement because i've actually got one. It's well built, decent size and best in class safety. I just dont think people should pass this car based on some idiots opinion. If you feel his opinion is the truth without even trying it yourself, then your more of an idiot.
u1435 8 months ago 11
@u1435 you know it's a good thing to stop normal person to buy alfa romeo, other wise alfa will become vw or bmw driven by idiots. Alfa is special! And we are special! Only true patrol heads and alfa lovers drive alfa romeo! Good work Mat!!

846524162 9 months ago
@846524162 I think it's because they are able to achieve better fuel economy, with these small turbo charged engines.
I guess they are lighter as well.. and maybe cheaper to manufacture?
Anyways I agree.. I like a revy N/A engine as well :-)
DinosaursOnceRuled 9 months ago
Would anyone turn down a Golf or A3 for this. I mean could you live with this for 3 years?
nbramson35 9 months ago 3
I think Alfa Looks are very overrated. They end up looking a but naff after 2 years. Engines are good. 1.4 ltr Turbo with 50mpg? Ish' don't think so buddy. Basically a Fiat is a Cadbury's flake and an Alpha is the Easter egg Version.

srboskovic 9 months ago
You are the best. Very honest review as usual. But somehow I was always ready to forgive and forget all the alfas downsides. There is somethig special about this cars. Maybe it is only romantic history. Maybe it is that sense you are driving something made in old passion and fashio way, more "artigianale" (crafted) rathet then screw down by robots and very nice and boring people..
srboskovic 9 months ago
Good performance, stunning design, and sloppy reliability make an alfa what it is. Infact I would be disappointed if the car came out all german inside. It wouldn't be an alfa romeo!
koolyman 9 months ago
@koolyman yes becasue the Germans from VW and Audi and BMW and Mercedes make VERY reliable cars...... Hahaha, VW and Audi have laughable reliability and BMW has quite a few engine issues as well as Mercedes. The newer Alfas have actually improved quite a bit on reliability.
AdrianC12345 9 months ago
@AdrianC12345 I get you. The thing about cars though is there are two ends of the scale. You have cars like the toyota corolla which traditionally is very, very reliable, but very, very boring. The other end is Alfa Romeos and other italian cars which aren't reliable, but have the passion! I know I am sounding weird but it scares me to think if they actually made a reliable car, it might lose it's character, soul and identity! lol I know xD weird.
koolyman 9 months ago
Alfa as always absolutely stunning to look at, you would like to own one for its passion! But all those small problems.. you know it break and it will cost :(

One spends most of his time inside the car, not looking at it. The interior should be the one towards which most of the attention is focused. That colour doesn't really make it stand out from the crowd, but the design is so-so. The engines are great though.
floflorian 9 months ago
I beg to driffer. It looks terrible. The exterior is a mix of new Vauxhall Astra with old Subaru Tribeca. And the interior is tacky and badly put together.
