he really was somthing special. Im not saying that lightly. Im no fairy, but the music that man could create would take my breath away. like chane my day, offer me perspective, move me like no other musicisian ever has
hard to believe its been 2 yrs today......and been listening to Hartford 8 /27/2000 show lately and enjoying and missing Rois contribution to the band....
ahw man i actually feel the world is a less fulfilled place without this beautiful musician, his licks are just so transcending they make the world a lot less scary place at times sorely missed
I remember getting to hear Leroi in his glory at RFK back when I was 16. That pennywhistle was the most haunting and beautiful sound I'd ever heard. It struck the place dead quiet like everybody was just drawn in to him. RIP Leroi there will never be another as great as you. I'm priveleged to have that experience.
Leroi...the man in the shadows...a powerful presence...a remarkable member always...when I hear bartender it tears me up inside. Some musicians just move you so much. To think, the man spoke very little but you could just feel he was at the very heart of this band. Bless his family, rest his soul, peace to DMB as they carry on his eternal memory. one love....
what happenned to the black guy that played the flute? i saw them on tv a few weeks ago and he wasn't there. probably went solo to make more money. I heard he was Dave's meth hookup, so maybe they had a falling out over some bad drugs. anyway, does he have a website? i think his name was larry or something like that.
he was an inspiration to me as a saxophonist. he is where i got some of my ideas when i improved... god rest you. thank you for the video it was amazing
anybody hear that story that dave told about the first time he heard roi play somewhere over the rainbow? this just makes me think. i hope that they are still able to come together even with roi gone
apparently when Dave was a bartender in Charlottesville, VA, Leroi came in and was a little tipsy and Dave kinda haggled him a bit but then Roi played, according to Dave, "the most beautiful rendition of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' I have ever heard", and said that it was in part what inspired him to start up DMB

Thank you both. Did it for Roi, means a lot because I can never get what I feel out in words, especially about others. So he helped me get this out in spirit <3
Thank you very much, really hope the band gets this to see how much they all mean to us.
I also think, in all respect, Roi's not resting in peace but still playing his heart out. So instead of R.I.P. I think it should be P.I.R. (Play it, Roi).
When I think of LeRoi, I always think of Somewhere over the Rainbow. DMB means so much to me, and to my mom and I, and to know that he isn't with us breaks my heart in ways that any guy at my high school couldn't even compare to. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we will miss him like we'd miss a close friend.
So so sad. What an incredible talent. I loved when he did this on Lover Lay Down. I got to see it live twice. I am heartbroken that it won't be the same.
I think a Moby song puts it perfectly into words...why does my heart feel so bad?...This feels like a dream, my heart hurts so bad, it's hard to listen to DMB right now.
It makes me cry each time I watch how when LeRoi starts to play the whole crowd starts to chear.

I wish I could send this in to them, it would really mean so much to dedicate it in memory of him. I dunno just wrote this in mind.
[Dave's soothing voice] LeRoi Moore
Nineteen sixty-one to two thousand eight,
What a beautiful angel with saxaphone
Playin' solo as the whole--
Whole world watched him play his soul out on stage
Birds can still hear him on a peaceful, rainy day...
And somewhere, over that rainbow [Dave's voice building up] we'll see him play again
[Chrous] Gravedigger...
chasingthemoon 3 years ago 25

if dave would sing that it would probably be one of the most emotional moments of the bands history
send it to him
