@youmilkpack You had me worried for a minute there, just opened logic9.6.1 Ctrl & R definitely chops the selected sample and places it in your audio bin ... Have you been tinkering with your key commands by any chance ?
@canecreek00 No it´s actually a new install. Strange. When I tried to change it said something about the old link being Add Region but still Record Enabled. I changed to Create Region and it works now. I guess it´s the same but not sure though.
i actually had to set it up to. this was a fresh install from the app store download. i did not get an error when trying to add the new quick key.

or right click on the sample> choose convert to new sampler track & choose the transient option, then all the samples are ready to go.
