One of my favorites of all time. It was on an Funhouse mix tape I had from 1983.
Absolutely classic.
I still have the 12" (and many many others) - if any of you lovers of original Elektro/New Wave crossover need your fix, get in touch; I can be your pusherman ...
@mo827 He's here, 6 months late, but better late than never?. I've got a pseudonym up on Youtube Jasontikitiki. You can check out what music I'm up to these days. SUPER lo-fi, intentionally so, but I hope it still contains the spirit from back in the day. Hope 2012 sees you well, John
@BCYONKERS Yo Brother Cannon! I'm so lame with this stuff. I had a blast working with you and especially that gig. I did what you've done with the comedy Broseph! Peace
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have been looking for this song for about 20 years. I've asked so many people about this an no one even remembered it. I finally found a WLIR/WDRE Scream list that had it listed and voila - YouTube! Now only if I can get an audio copy of this since iTunes does not have it. Will try and figure out a way.
This song was on the infamous Street Beat Records Ultimate Breaks & Beats album that was discontinued...I was 'bout to buy it 'n didn't that day, 'n miss'd out on the completion of the series (of 25 albums) a few years later! This was in the mid-80s...LOL...this was consider'd one of the breaks supplied to producers 'n deejays for hip hop music (I guess the breakdowns in the song)!!!
yup, the Spoons a Canadian new wave band, tell no lies, romantic traffic, nova heart, arias & symphonies, i dug those tunes... i vaguely recall seein the vid for tell no lies on our black en white tv for the first time...I think i danced to nova heart at the Library in NF,NY you know at a video road show !!!
I searched all over NYC to buy this for my girlfriend in the early 90s. Paid 30 bucks for the 45. After that, in a thrift shop found the 12" for a quarter!
thanks again and turns out the band is right from long lsland NY right where i grew up lol i was allways thinkin it was from europe somewhere and iwould never hear it again
Omygod, this song has been stuck in my memory for 25+ years. THANK YOU for posting it. I first heard it on WLIR, 92.7, whihc broadcast from the NYC suburb of Hempstead, Long Island. They broke all this incredible "post-punk progressive pop" and Euro-pop. They had a weekly contest for the best new song of the week called "The Screamer of The Week."
@SaschaDuda Hell Yeah !! screamer of the week...... LOVE this song, and haunting is correct.... it would pop into my head all random!. Another one that was hard to find, Martini Ranch " World Without Walls "
LOL That's funny, I also heard this song in a mix and it was the Latin Rascals Mix which I have on cassette and just like you 20 years later I got it on CD through the internet.
" It was more than 20 years later that I found the 12 inch. God bless the internet!"
Just fantastic! I feel the same a lot of times
