  • This song is so insanely good.

  • This is Steven Wilson 0:28 , at the "Espacio Escultórico" (Sculpture Space) on "Ciudad Universitaria" UNAM Mexico City.

  • @selfishpath Thanks , i've been wondering where that was since i saw the artwork of this album!!

  • This song is not Insurgentes, this one is called Abandoner, Insurgentes is the album

  • which version is that?

  • 4 min 43 sec EAR ORGASM

  • this isnt the album vesion right..?

  • @MeSh223 no, i personally think the album version is a bit better, but maybe thats just because it's the first one I heard :)

  • @MeSh223 This is quite different from it

  • caro Steven if you "come in naples" ci saro'......(come del resto se ti degnerai con i Porcupine). Massimo rispetto brother !

  • Questo ragazzo cresce proprio bene cazzo ! Ma l'ultimo (che sta per uscire) ha le premesse di un disco davvero serio.......9+ !

  • Couldn't help but smile at the smashed iPods :)

  • Very open minded album! One day SW's music will be classic!

  • I like this version better than the album version.

  • Insurgentes album was pretty much the best thing I've heard in my whole life.

  • Could anyone tell me which is this? I need to know!

  • Converting people into Steven Wilson fans one listener at a time.

  • Stunning.

    A true artist,

  • @jonok911 fucken Amen. Wilson is God

  • 1:02

Just realized that's a Bass Communion album cover.

Not that image, just the weird T shaped thing.

  • steve wilson i tip my hat ,your musical presence is blinding ,keep writing my friend.

  • fuck you ipods !!!

  • Boards of Canada

  • @irena7777777 that is a mind-fuck of a band (not in a bad way!)

  • I have no right to speak for them, but if I was ever faced with the choice to publicly brodcast my music on the radio, I would not. Then I would be lacking self-respect, and breaking deep ties, at least for me, with their already plentiful and strong fanbase, and demeaning my music. Public radio doesn't deserve Porcupine Tree. We all desrve respect.

  • I suppose that, in the situation that Porcupine Tree was brodcast publicly, it would bother people who feel a deep connection with the band and Steven Wilson himself. I find that public radio causes the people listening to it think it is mainstream, which it usually is, and that is the underlying cause. I think one of the beauties of this band is discovering it within yourself, the essence and feeling and once again connection, when it pulls your breath from between your lips.

  • This is very hard to swallow! Isn't for everyone, that's why you don't listen to it in the radios!!

  • I love this version. This should be on the album too

  • @josefvickers you'r right!!

  • I actually think this mix of Abandoner is better

  • TE AMO!!!!

  • Cool version of Abandoner. I've never heard this version before.

Steven is so good at expressing whatever emotion he wants to. Whether it be musically or lyrically, he always paints a perfect picture.

This whole album is astonishing. It's definitely my favorite album of 2009 and it's in top 5 favorites of all time.

  • Thanks for the Melody orgasm Steven ..

  • Lol I love how that dark brooding music plays to the death of those Ipods, hehe

  • this has got to be one of the most interesting peices of music ive ever heard, with the dark melodies and chords, im speechless

  • @nhdrummer2112 i agree 300% i just got the album last week, havent put it down ever since !

    Steven Wilson, congrats !

  • yeah i agree. He's just gosh... a miracle.

  • Steven is absolutely AMAZING!!!

  • I'm always flying away somewhere far from the earth, when I listen to Steven. this is an amazing feeling. impossible to describe ...

  • This album is amazing.

  • steven wilson is a musical genius no doubt. i just discovered his solo album.

    incredible.

i also just went to see him with porcupine tree. GREAT SHOW.

    he is FANTASTIC live.

he always knows how to put on a great show. WE LOVE YOU WILSON!!! =]

  • I think you did a song by /MARC-COHN-far-away-nearby I can not find the album so I listen to it Do you know it? I loved what you did ! Nancy

  • Funny how when i listen to his music i picture some amazing things.

And then when i see a vid they are usually dark and fascinated by death. WT?

And he has doll issues? lol!

  • 2:51! Its the scaryest picture ever!! Btw. Great ! song!<3

  • Image at 1:40 lol so ironic, Wilson hate mp3s :D :D :D

  • probably the best song of 2009 with All You Deserve of this album.

Ive got this album (bought it off course) but this song is a different version from the album

where can i find this version of this song?

  • wauu ENVOLVENTEEE !!!!!

  • I like this version, it starts off not sounding so different from the original and slowly builds it's differences. Good stuff!

  • daaaamn, extra kudos to the guy who did this for pulling back the distorted guitars later in the song. sick, and not many would have thought to do that.

  • this was from the remix competition!! definitely one of the better if i remember correctly. it was one of the few that pulled back instead of pushed. if ya know what i mean.

  • isnt this song called "abandoner"?

  • Wow, incredible album and awesome song. Mr. Wilson, you continue to amaze me more and more everyday. You've completely changed my perspective on music, just like Pink Floyd and King Crimson did a while back when I started listening to them.

Steven hasn't made any music that I haven't loved.

  • The song named Insurgentes is for me the best he wrote for this album, but The 78, No Twilight within the courts of the Sun, Twilight Coda and Veneno para las hadas are pure pieces of creativity and feelings. The whole album is mind blowing along with his project and idea. Steven Wilson is a true artist, far far away from almost any of the musicians that I've ever heard.

  • I am so in love with this album

I have listened to it almost every day since it came out

I enjoy every song and it grows on me even more with each listen...most of Steven Wilson/Blackfield/PT songs have that effect on me..I really cant say that about many other musicians

I agree with the comment that Steven Wilson is the Mozart of our times...he is so prolific..so much music of high quality comes from the mind of this man..Amazing!!

Cant wait to see PT in September

  • Ill be there in septebmber... and ya the only other people that have that effect that you mentoned on me is radiohead.. hell ya this album is out of this world

  • someone who's commenting this video must have a good music flavour

steven is THE heroe of the 21th century

  • Quite ok solo album from Steven :)

I personally like Harmony Korine the most from this album... But this song has such a unique and strong atmosphere and sort of shapes the Insurgentes, the album, as a whole...

  • ajajajajaja, limpiaparabrisas, mexa rules, ajajajaja ;)

  • Where did you get this?

  • It would be a dream come true to get to jam with steven, write some songs with him :D Steven revolutionized my musical view when i heard In Absentia for the first time after it was released, i'm still as blown away by it as then, same goes with stupid dream and lightbulb sun! If someone's interested they can check out my acoustic songs, highly inspired by steven.

  • I bought this album 2 months ago and I didn't really think much about it. Now I consider it one of the greatest albums of all time and I listen to it everyday. And hey, who said teens don't listen to good music? I'm 15 and I'm a Prog freak!

  • Steven Wilson the best musican of the World

This man is the Great Master of The Music

No-Man Porcupine Tree Bass Communion, Blacfield

IEM , Headphone Dust and Steven in self

Listen all yours generes and get me the reason

  • It's "Blackfield" . . .

  • I'm pretty sure it was a typo.

  • Really, no kiddin'? Thanks.

  • Steve Wilson is possibly the greatest musician ever, alongside Lennon, Mercury, Jackson.

  • hey man,i agree all you've saying!!

i only knew him back in 2007 wen i have the L U C K Y to ear the album "Stupid Dream"

since then,i thing that ive found my secret idol.Hes a master no doubt and is so unfare is been so "hidden" because some people think that MUSIC is something else..

  • congrats :D

you are one of the few teens that gives more importance to REAL music, and you are not one of those teen freaks listening to comercial rock and bands that dont give a fuck about music. Can you feel the essence of prog rock? :)

  • I rarely bought albums when I was younger, I bought a few from NIN, but that was pretty much it. Now I've spent hundreds on albums, most of it Porcupine Tree.

Since I was 16 years old I have listened to works of Steven Wilson every day for a year.

Steven has changed the way I see, hear, and experience music and life, forever.

  • @Saphothere amen brother!!

  • awesome!!!

    a fucking genious!!! omg!!!

  • beside my fully "metallic" musics it was the senseless Paradise.

very-very GOOD and harmonic an'on an' on......

  • I love this!...sooooooo beautiful...

  • I don't really like the drums on the album version.

  • Absolute genius. I can't get enough of Wilson's creativity. The Mozart of our times.

  • @42BETWO I like Mozart very much, but Steven is better then him IMO :D He's Beethoven of our times:D

  • @sheena205 beethoven is to happy... he's our Bach... :P

  • @xanadu4463 beethoven is too happy?:D really?:D I didn't mention..I like him for his passion and melancholy:D but still I like Steven more:D

  • @sheena205 Bach is more chaotic... and weird :P

    But indeed.. Steven kicks ass...

  • @42BETWO Steven would be ofended by this comment, he thinks music from a producer perspective, that´s what makes him unique... mozart was a technical musician

  • I certainly hope Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree are doing well financially, I do what I can do to support them, seeing Porcupine Tree this fall, but I am glad this is not all over the radio, being turned off by 13 year olds in favor of Jonas Brothers, but I think I have nothing to fear, radio stations and most of the listening public do not appreciate great music when they hear it.

  • so toootally agree with you

  • Good comment but i dislike how you stereotype teenages as people who listen to crappy comercial waste, some of us listen to and appreciate proper music.

    Great song.

  • @TheBends11 hey, didn't mean any disrespect, it just seems to me like the fan base for Jonas Brothers is adolescent to young teenager. That you are young and like good music, gives us older folk, hope for the future generation :).

  • so true couldnt have put it better myself

  • @kushisaac So true, and I am sure they are doing very well financially having sold out the Royal Albert Hall in London this year!

  • @kushisaac I'm that age and I absolutely adore Steven Wilson and Porcupine tree and Blackfield..I would kill to see them live i listen to a lot of their live stuff because unlike other bands they actually sound really good live. I try to get my friends into these bands but they're more for the mainstream bands unfortunately.

  • @kushisaac, SW and PT are doing absolutely fine financially. their "anesthetize" DVD sold out! and were still lucky that the JB's are dying by the second.

  • @kushisaac Why are so many people disinclined to have music such as PT and SW widely distributed. Who cares if they become more popular...music is art and shouldn't be coveted but shared. If anything, it'd be a great step to have SW's wonderful music playing on the radio. Many people listen to the radio because it is free/accessible. If this music is never distributed via public radio then people may not discover SW wonderful's music and will not be able to enjoy its beauty.

  • @10JackPe Thanks man, I'm actually a little down about the fact more people don't know who SW and PT are. The more fans and support he gets the more music we get. I'd be thrilled to turn on the radio and hear this. I wouldn't be thrilled to hear that SW had to get a real job cause only 10,000 people bought the album. Cheers.

  • @kushisaac Considering they release 67 versions of every album and then 2 companion albums full off outakes, not to mention the touring, live albums, DVDs, limited edtions. Oh and Steven Wilson's 12 other projects... I'd say he's doing well. BUT he's managed to do all that is a cool way, actually producing results rather than promoting the same shit tirelessly. This is how bands should make money - by working, not marketing.

  • @josefvickers Wow, Brilliant response. Kudos brother.

  • @kushisaac Dont worry, PT is doing well financially

  • @kushisaac I disagree, porcupine tree is fairly radio-friendly...

  • @JacobSijsma U obviously don't listen to Ptree or the radio.... shame on u.... keep ur mouth and keyboard shut plz

  • Comment removed

  • @JacobSijsma the one who sucks is you and your mother

  • @kushisaac

Are you sure? If PT played on radios more frequently, it would be there for more people to find. I mean, yeah there are people who would turn it off in favor of different music, but you would also have people hearing them for the first time and they are potential fans. I hate it that the only person I know who's a PT fan is the one who introduced them to me 3 years ago.

  • @kushisaac hey ... i am 13

and i can't breathe without raping wilson's discography in every single project !!!! =D

Thanks for hating me lol :P

  • @kushisaac The sad thing is that they used to before money became King.

  • @kushisaac Actually I've heard PT or other Steve's projects quite a few times in radio in Poland :) Not in a day hours though...

  • ...increible...nothing else.

  • '' Personally I see no need to define his music at all. More and more bands are breaking the confinement of genres'' - ACRONOMIC, absolutelly agree with you and I'm sick of all the fightings about genres. Stop argueing, just listen!

  • Its one of the problems with commercial music, everything is segregated into one or another genre, and it has brainwashed the average listener. Almost to the point of programmed minds.

I feel bad for the younger generation who do not know what it was like when music was just created regardless of the genre, when bands and artists infused all styles and genres into their music. Real musicians have integrity and care about their art and creativity.

  • this song is so beautiful. only real music people know Steven. Im sure he's a great fan of Syd Barrett

  • and obviously a fan of Radiohead!

  • Steven makes a reference to Radiohead's album "The Bends" in the song "Pure Narcotic" from Porcupine Tree's Stupid Dream album.

"You keep me listening to the bends..."

  • Personally I see no need to define his music at all. More and more bands are breaking the confinement of genres.

  • Steven is not just prog, he has alot more

to offer than just being prog. I am sure he

    would agree as well.

  • I agree aswell, that being said...

...He really does shine like the sun in prog, and I mean like the SUN!

  • Song is called Abandoner, and this is the Engineer's mix, different from the mix on the record.

  • What song is this?

  • I love how in the studio version the disonant distortion comes in at the end and it just adds SO much weight and darkness to the song.

  • yeah man you said it!

  • Is this Sid Wilsons brother ? :P

  • there is no better prog artist than steven & porc.

  • steven u re fucking genius im glad artists like you still alive u make music better

  • Comment removed

  • meraviglioso!!!!!!!!!

  • Insurgentes is hands down one of the most original, haunting, beautiful collections of music I've ever heard. Some of the tracks took a bit longer to grow on me than others, but wow. This CD just transports me to another place. Love it!

This is a great remix of Abandoner, but I do miss that crushing dissonance at the end of the album version.

  • Insurgentes is BRILLIANT. One of the best and most creative albums ever!

  • I'll have to listen to the album then as I was reffering to the Harmony Korine track on U Tube.

  • Man you realy have to, its amazing! : )

  • The rest of the album is actually really different than Harmony Korine.

  • It makes me feel kinda molesty.

  • Now that I am older, wiser and somewhat more cynical, there are not so many things left which corner me into silence........this is one of them.

  • amazing...

  • nice remix

  • This song is Abandoner, not Harmony Korine

  • This song is so fricken haunting and amazing. Listen to them mellotrons and them melodys weaving in and out of Steven's meloncholic vocals. This is pure darkness....
