its a ctually a vey inteesting religious debate if people could get past their contemporay political issues. . . jwdaism is a very old religion and there is a vey strong drive to preserve it, and equally a strong drive to modernize it. as such, it suffers from very similar issues that modern Islam, Christianity and Hinduism (to name but a few) - how do you contend with the secular/religious divide. In this respect, Islam and Judaism share a strong tradition of not distinguishing the division.
