  • Shocking display of basketball talent for the college level. Phi Slamma Jamma was greatest team to never win a championship. Sorry Fab 5. But that was a VERY talented and athletic team in Louisville that they did that to.

  • With all due respect to Clyde and this Phi Slamma Jamma team..Louisville's Doctors of Dunk of the '89-'90 season are better, 195 dunks in a season

  • The Reverend Tony™ makes it UH +7 because of Olajuwon

  • this game was incredible..something to think about..who would have won between this houston team and unly running rebel championship team 1990..?? i think id have to go with this houston team...

  • Growing up in Houston this brings back great memories.

  • 5:50 WHAT.. THE...

  • Sure miss these days, fuck 1 & done!

  • wheres the dame 30 for 30 sieres on this Team

  • I hate anyone who talks about nc state all they did was foul towards the end

at least villanova beat georgetown on the up and up 79% shooting!!!!

  • How the hell did this UH club ever lose a game? The most talented team in the history of college basketball.

  • @RaffettoSpeaks its how its always been with Houston teams.....always had great winning teams in the fast..Historic teams of every sport....but thats all were allowed to have........just like the 98 Astros, 79 Oilers and Phi slamma jamma. thats how special the 94/95 Houston Rockets were!

  • its gotta be common sense the best way to score is off a turnover or a fast break; without allowing the defense to get set and also permitting the opportunity for defensive mismatches.

the intense-acrobatic-above-the-rim-play that phi slamma used is clearly what got them to the ship. 100% Shots are the best in my opinion, with the chance of earning two at the line? I'd take a bit of contact in the paint over shooting a long-range jay anyday.

  • That 11-0 run, featuring a one-handed alley oop to Michael Young, a ridiculous Benny Anders jam over Charles Jones, a ferocious Drexler one-handed dunk, and then that stunning mid-air change-of-mind two hander by Drexler, this was the stuff of myth in my youth. All the beauty and power of this game is contained in that few minutes of breath-taking athletic ability and physical creativity. Before I die, I will pass the story down to the next generation so it lives on forever.

  • Clyde became THE MAN , after this game!!!

  • I was 10 years old when this game was played. It is still one of the most entertaining basketball games I've ever seen in my life. The athleticism by both teams was just unreal. More of this game was played above the rim than below.

  • This is THE GAME that made introduced me to basketball. I have loved it since that day.

  • 2:05 Welcome to Posterland!!!!!

  • I saw Phi Slamma Jamma at Baylor that year. They put Benny Anders in the game and he immediately stole the ball and did a 360 slam. Greatest team to never win the championship.

  • Wow, Clyde made that switch from the one-hander to the two-hander look so effortless.

  • But let these idiot kids today tell it, athleticism in the form of big, strong, quick & fast players didn't exist until MJ retired & the year 2000 arrived, which is when they essentially started watching the game..SMH

They kill me with that bullshit LOL!!

Let them tell it, some kinda' X-men type mutation took place in '00, endowing players with the kinda' otherworldly & freakish athleticism that's never been seen B4 LOL!!

    today's kids = super morons

  • Dunks (to save everyone time): 1:12, 1:38, 2:01, 5:48

  • Man, I remember this game, like it was yesterday. Even though UH lost the championship game to NC St on a last second dunk ( how ironic) this was one of the greatest teams in NCAA History with the mosr appropiate nickname ever. Long live the legend of "PHI SLAMMA JAMMA"!

  • Akeem the "dream" and Clyde "the glide" Drexler

  • @ 6:14, THAT'S a rebound. Even at the young age of 20 you can see the dominance of Hakeem.

  • Klosterman! Benny Anders' dunk right around the 2:00 mark.

  • lawd hav mercy...Benny Anders dunk at 2:05, this clip brings back memories, think i was about 13 when this game was played.....i too miss when players stayed in college longer b/c you got to see great teams with great athletes

  • Phi Slamma and the fab 5 are greatest squads the play college basketball.

  • Dajuan Wagner's pop at 3:26.

  • Phi Slamma Jamma one of the most ferocious college teams ever. They literally dunked my boyz (Louisville) right out of the gym. Something I never I thought would see happen. After all, it was the Cards who were considered the "Doctors of Dunk". This was an epic battle; in a great venue. Just wished the Cards would have come out ahead.

  • At 5:48, Clyde Drexler is standing in the paint near his own basket, not yet realizing there is about to be a turnover. At 5:52, he is dunking on the other end. Imagine how fast his 3/4 court sprint time would have been at a draft combine. 3.0 seconds? 2.9? 2.8?

  • i wish someone could post the entire 83' semifinal game between houston and louisville. it was a dunkfest!

  • The Good Rev (youtube name: TheReverendTony) has posted the game. check out his profile

  • wow. I remember watching this game live. even crazier is that I didn't see one flop.

  • A tourney classic. So much talent on the floor in the 1980's NCAA's - the days before "one and done". Awesome crowd noise too thanks to the game being played in "The Pit" - a real basketball venue and not a cavernous dome. I don't miss Billy "I invented college b-ball" Packer though.

  • Agreed on everything you said.

  • The entire game is now posted but in 11 parts because of YouTube limits. Enjoy, The Reverend Tony™

  • Rev, you're the man for posting this!! My favorite ever Final Four Game. Tell the kids stories of the world famous Phi Slama Jama

  • Thanks for posting! Missed this game YEARS ago, and have been looking for it for a long time.

  • that was when college basketball was real..if they had a shot clock in the early to mid 80's houston would have won 3 straight titles..other teams held the ball against them to slow the game down.one of the best ncaa teams ever

  • What I love is how they push the ball EVERYTIME , this is a incredible display of playing basketball.

  • How they lost the title game i'll never know.

  • the rest is?
