  • In this movie died one and lived one thinking of him

now look what really happend to date

    R.I.P. Heath

  • This part made me cry so much

  • what does he say! I'm spanish the translation is so bad that I don't even think he says the same in english... : (

    can anyone translate??

  • @umnomag Jack, te juro...

  • I swear I'm crying:'(

  • This makes me so emotional. The shirts together represent everything they wanted, which was to be together in simple union. The 'normality' of the shirts hanging in the wardrobe also shows this, as all they wanted was to have a 'normal' relationship, which they were unable to to do.

First time I watched this film, I cried so much. Still cry watching just this tiny excerpt. Beautifully scripted, scored and directed.

  • 8 people are homophobes

  • saddest score ever:( amazing magic

  • this movie kill and been revive after 3 and a half months,

  • i cry every time i see this scene... so bitter, so heartbreaking, so realistic at the same time.... I also think that the music score, makes it even more emotional... By the way: what is "i swear" implying here? Any suggestions? Anyone?

  • @philipposathina I just watched this movie yesterday, and I think that the "I swear..." is supposed to mean different things to people. Jack, in the beginning, said he never "swears", so I think there's something to do with it. But I also agree with what someone in here said, he is also swearing he will love him forever. But again, the person who wrote this movie (forgot her name) said there's a lot of interpretations to that scene...pick your favorite. xD

  • @girlsnextdoorkendra thank you so much! i was missing the scene where jack says that he never swears. If so, then it's obvious that what the script means by "i swear" in the end, does make a reference of both... so, i swear in the final scene wants to say that " in spite of the fact that no oaths should be taken, i swear i'll always love you". Thanks again, i think i must watch the film for one more time (fourth!)

  • @philipposathina I thought he swore to bury Jack's remains or ashes to Brokeback mountain after Jack's father had denied Ennis.

  • @ombretard hmmmm , one could assume that, but there are no indications about this, i mean if that was all about the script should've made it more evident, should'nt it? I mean, ok, i could easily assume that all he means by " i swear" is, "i will never forget you", but again there should be smthg concrete in the script, leadin to this assumption..

  • i dont remember this, didnt i read something at the end of the film...like they got beat to death or something horrible like that

  • what is this music please?

  • @MrAlex160492 It's "The wings" by Gustavo Santaolalla :)

  • I never cry to movies. Never. NEVER. I really don't. But when I saw Brokeback Mountain and this final scene, I broke down in tears like I never had before. Everything is in this scene, everything that a man can have in life. And Ang Lee showed this in simple ways like two shirts hanging on a hanger. This is ART.

  • my heart hurts now :(

  • i watched that last saturday, man, what a movie! that is the tenderest thing that i've ever seen.

  • Comment removed

  • OMG! This ending makes me cry. Such a beautiful movie! =´(

  • My heart totally brakes uo everytime I watch tthis movie *-*

  • I'm not gay, so it's normal to hate a movie with LGBT themes. and was hating it until I saw thise scene, and it changed my whole mind.

    it really moved me.

  • @fatizoo1000 WHAT???

Im straight and I dont hate movies that have LGBT themes, What the fuck is wrong with you?

Sound a lil like a homophobe in disguise

  • Can anybody please tell me, why he says "Jack, I swear"? I don't get the connection to the rest of the movie. Thank you!

  • @deei2 He swears he'll always love him. Even after death.

  • I sobbed my heart out at this scene.

  • the music is Tiny Tears by Tindersticks

  • i still wonder what he meant by "I swear".

  • heath ledger, you're amazing!

  • Part of me wants to know what he swore, and part of me is glad I don't, becuase I'm pretty sure it would make me cry....

  • "Jack, I swear."

The first time I watched it was in the theatre. I didn't bring any tissues, because I didn't know about the break-your-heart ending. My shirt sleeve was soaked by the end of the movie. Forever on my top 5 favorite movie list.

  • @persephonespearls Tell us the other 4? :)

  • i swear.

  • cry again......:"(

  • I recall crying at this and the music moved me..

  • This movie was beautiful, and I cried like a baby for the last 20 minutes. Trust me, I never cry when I watch a movie. But this was... damn. So emotional <3

  • DDL Said this is one of the most heart breaking things he has ever seen .. and i agree with him . first time i watched this it broke my heart .

  • @chanceie12 No, you're wrong. He said that the film was normal, but this scene and Heath acting made the most moving scene he has ever seen.

  • i cry every time...this film is just BEAUTIFUL.

  • Jack, I swear...

  • no its the essence of being a human....love can take time and conquer all despite of being hu u are...its a very good story...

  • 1:06 What does he say!!?? I don't understand him!! AAAAA i want to know what is he saying! pleeeeeease

  • @Eindrew9 he say "Jack I swear"

  • @oOoOyaoisteOoOo aww thanks ^^

  • @Eindrew9 nothing =)

  • what he say when he was talking in jacks clothes?,dam i was crying while watching this movie,...best movie ever made! :( so sad:(

  • @botete222 jack i swear

  • I swear.

  • This movie broke my heart .

  • @Keeeeeeeeevin I think it broke everyones heart. :(

  • The music is an instrumental cover version of "Tiny Tears" by Tindersticks, shame.

  • Who the fuck disliked this scene?

  • @rblanco666 westboro baptist church

  • I've just watched the movie for the seccond time, and this scene just gets to me. I cry like a baby. Its so freaking perfect. Heath was a fuckin genius actor.

  • OMG this scene is so sad, I can´t avoid feeling like crying every time I watch it....This movie is awesome, the story is so unpredictable and sad at the same time!!!

  • What is the name of this song plz tell me

  • @michellelol95

The music is by Gustavo Santalola "Wings"

  • I love this movie !!! Love is love dosent matter if it's a man or a woman or a man and a man love is everything and we all deserve to have that in ur lives with the person we want to have it with

  • I know of no actor with greater range. Think of this role, and then think of Health as the Joker... (!!!) Amazing talent, sorely missed...

  • the last 20 minutes of this movie is the most heart wrenching, punched in the stomach, just heart stabbing thing ever :( every damn time. i miss heath so much too :(

  • Cette scène me pince toujours le coeur ( ou plus ). La musique, Heath, ces yeux, la carte, les chemises... Parfait & si triste !

  • This ending is the best I've ever seen! Heath ledger plays his character so well, you can feel his loneliness through the screen. It depresses me when he looks at that postcard, because he was never really happy, except if he was with jack. Now jack is death, he isn't happy at all. And the camera work, the last shot with the window en the view, portraits that so good! He's in nobody's land, on his own. It makes me sad en makes me cry like a baby!!

  • I'm a straight guy but this movie almost brought me to tears! :'(

  • Playing Ennis in Brokeback was Heath Ledger's finest hour. He's Austrailan, yet he captured the essence of the lone, tragic Wyoming cowboy's voice, character, and body language better than any American actor could have. It's a work of art.

  • Every time i see this .. it just breaks my heart

Now he's gone after his greatest movie R.I.P sweet angel

    Heath, I swear.

  • I loved this movie so much. I'm glad they found two actors who were very serious about the subject matter and didn't let homophobes and the controversy surrounding it ruin their vision to create such powerful performances. Heath thought of it as two human beings who couldn't fight the powerful force that is love. They just happened to be two men

  • cherish the moment.........before it passes, or live to regret it.

  • I cried so much watching this scene

  • i thought that movie was gay and i watched it and i kiked so much it was very sad though:(

  • Comment removed

  • I love this movie. I cryed specially in the final part when he says " Jack, I swear " and the music sounds louder and you just feel like that's your love story and you remember when you felt in love with someone just like these two men, with that person you are thinking about all the fuking day and you can't get out from your mind and you don't care about anything else ... Well anyways, love is everything that we need :D

  • I cried so much when Eenis found Jack's and his shirts D:<

    So much.

  • So sad! So sad!

    Fucking gay shit.

  • He cheated on his wife.

  • @GENERALLEEJ he didn't love that wife. He was forced to get married with a woman because people wouldn't have allowed him to be with his true love. So fuck off you dumbasses

  • @an1cafe No one forced him to do marry that girl. He could have stayed single and had homosexual relations in private and without anyone else knowledge. He wasted the girls life. She live in a loveless marriage. Very unfair for her. And as for calling me a 'dumb ass', I hear you but reject your allegation. I respect your opinion even though I don't agree with it. That doesn't make me or you a dumb ass. It just means we have differing opinions. Thanks for your feed back.

  • In the end it's NOTHING about gender,it's ALL about person... And it can happen to anyone.Love really has no boundaries at all:-) And guys who rape sb or cheating on their partners or do sick things to children and stuff, they exist but on both sides! Why is it so simple for hetero to make it homo stuff only?Anyway thank you Ang Lee cause now I know better than just thoughtlessly judge.

  • c'est la scene la plus émouvante

j'aime ce film mais les mentalités n'ont pas changé il y aura toujours des cons sur terre et une grande partie d'entre eux sont instinctivement homophobes

  • great symbolism with the closet

  • cette video est triste comme le film!!!

  • What did he say at the end? Couldn't understand it?

  • @redwingsguy96 he says: "Jack, I swear..." :)

  • @an1cafe I don´t get that, I´ve watched this movie like 20 times and I still don´t get what he means with "Jack, I swear", do you know it by any chance????

  • @magico008 "I noticed that when he first discovered the shirts in Jack's parents' house, Jack's shirt was on the outside w/ Ennis' shirt inside, but now, they're reversed so Jack's inside of him, inside his heart. He fastens a snap on Jack's shirt then straightens the brokeback mountain postcard then states the line, which I think he's meaning, "Jack, I swear I will always love you and hold you in my heart."

  • @UppsalaBaronen I think it's more an angry sort of statement...like 'I swear I'm so fucking angry that I fell in love with you, and that I didn't run away with you, and that I didn't get to say goodbye and stuff.' Or even like 'I swear you don't know how much I love you.' I dunno...just my opinion!

  • @heathclifffe Yeah, that seems to be a reasonable explanation.

    Agreed! :)

  • @heathclifffe I think that sounds like a really good explanation....You can just feel the pain that he is going through, knowing he passed up the opportunity to act on his love for Jack. This scene just breaks my heart.

  • Such a fantastic movie, and this scene... It's just so calm and subtle, but just heartbreaking. The music is beautiful. Always makes me cry, amazing movie <3

  • this is a really sad movie

  • so sad and so amazing...

  • so sad!

  • hich two actors were the lovers?

  • will i ever stop crying like a baby whenever i see this?

  • Heath was like the PERFECT actor. He loses himself in every role and he's always so full of emotion, whatever emotion that may be. Great movie too

  • @coolbrett Even if that emotion is gayness.

  • I just finished watching this movie and I'm in tears....love it!

  • i dun know why everytime I see this scence, i remember this scence, my heart feels empty... "Everyone got a brokeback mountain in their hearts." Geniune saying from Ann Lee

  • i love this movie

and i cried for exactly 20 mins

aww i want to meet them in real life :(

  • This ending gave me goose bumps u stayed up all night on YouTube to watch it I find it just utter brillience

  • Man this ending gave me goose bumps I stayed up all night on YouTube to finish watching this film I find it just utter brillient

  • :'(

  • I'm a girl and remember seeing this in the cinema with a guy friend and being in tears at this scene....but then turning round to my mate and seeing tears pouring down his cheeks too. I was really impressed by how moving this film was/is - really beautiful *sniffs*

(oh and btw my mate is as straight as a die as well)

  • Hey is the music "only love will break your heart" by Neil Young?

  • @modano190

    No, isn't ;)

This music i Gustavo Santalola "Wings" :)

  • @Apollo19 Santaolalla*

  • this ending makes me cry everytime i watch it, so terribly sad :(

  • I never expected this film to make me cry, but goshh that ending had me crying like a bitch :'(. So sad.

  • @iRockYurSockss yes me too

  • i love it, and i hpe have someday a love like this..

    i hope find it

    and dont loose it

  • @TheSrgaga FAG

  • me encanta esta peli

  • before mr. ledger died....i had 2 shirts etwined tatooed on my arm...with caption jack i swear.......i translate it as....jack if you only knew what my real feelings was and if we could turn back time.....a masterpiece that the stupid oscars overlooked

  • How many times did I say "Nico, I swear... " ? That expresion comes out when you have so much things to say and ... you can't say anything.

    This movie is amazing.

    -----------------------------

sorry for my english. I'm argentinian

  • it's amazing how "Jack, I swear" can say so much. this ending kills me

  • This was one of the most amazing movies i've ever watched!

  • I'm straight, but this ending gets me. So awesome.

  • One of the most touching and saddest ending in history!

if you watched the whole movie, the ending part would truly break your heart

  • fantastic movie!! cryed lots..still loved it

  • This film is brilliant.. Love it..

  • if you watched the movie then you should understand everything!!!!!

  • I have a question as well, not regarding this scene, but the one when Ennis visits Jack's parents and the father is talking about Jack wanted to build a farm with some else. First he wanted to do that with Ennis, but the last year he was talking about somenone else, what was he talking about?

  • Jack had been seeing someone else in Texas (the guy with the talkative wife) because Ennis wasn't able to give him what he wanted out of their r'ship.

  • Comment removed

  • something i noticen in the hole movie is that ennis always gives excuses no to do something someone suggests i you know what i mean, like when jack said they should move to mexico and ennis said he wasnt a traveller and in this final scene he gives an excuse not to go to thw wedding but then he is like: they should get another cowboy, my daughter is getting married, its like he changed

  • What Ennis says is : "Jack, I swear"... What does this mean? I have no Idea...

  • It's open for interpretation... my opinion is that the whole scene is about remorse/regret that he didn't know his true feelings until it was too late, but now that he does, he knows he would have made different choices.... hence he could mean something like 'i swear....[i would have lived a life with you/loved you as you loved me/protected you, etc.]

Also note how Ennis's shirt is on the outside now....

sorry got a bit carried away but there so much symbolism in this movie - I LOVE IT!!!

  • Aww, how could I have not seen Ennis' shirt on the outside? Thanks for mentioning. I can't get over how beautiful this movie is!

  • might be Ennis regrets not listening to jack to go with him,as he is alone now...

  • @carolitohoney

well, it means a lot of things, which is why the sentence is left unfinished like that. It is a love declaration, if you will. You know how Ennis never could talk about his feelings, least of all to Jack? Jack was always the one saying things like I miss you so much, and suggesting they move in together. This is when Ennis finally promises that he loved him, and only him, and that he was everything, even if he couldn't say it while he was alive.

  • Comment removed

  • whats the last parting words?..toink!

  • May I know what did Ennis say in this video when he was tearing while looking at the shirts? :)

  • I don't understand either

  • Jack, I swear

  • My gut renches and my heart aches just by thinking about this movie. The actors, the setting, the music and the story... all add up to making this movie the most painful but beautiful movie ever.

  • I always crying when I watching this...

  • god me 2 :(

  • how ironic....the shirts r hung in the closet...it's like to e end ennis never came out of e closet. shouldn't he put it out for e world to c his deep love 4 jack....i think e saddest part in all this is what a waste of lives....

  • Your right.

  • This scene always makes me cry, every time I watch this movie..

  • He did not fight for their love when Jack was alive. Now he lives to regret it for the rest of HIS life. If you ever lost someone who you know you truly loved and who truly loved you back for sheer stupidity, inmaturity, indisciple and - in short - for NO GOOD REASON, then you can grasp the full dimension of this tragic ending! It is the kind of situation that people will ponder briefly and then nod their heads at it with nothing more to say than: "Oh, man, that really IS a crying shame."

  • i really hope there is a heaven, so that everyone can rest in peace with their loved ones

  • hell

its soooo sad and a magical moment at the same time...underlined by this music

    :'(

  • This makes me cry so much. Especially now that Heath, my favorite actor is gone. Rest in peace, Heath, no one will ever forget you.

    Jack, I swear.

  • I have never seen this movie but still watching the end..

    anywayz did Jack die??

and if he did , not in real right?

  • Yes, Jack died...

He don't die in real, but Ennis - Heath Ledger - he died.

  • I hope that final excerpt somewhat answers everyone's questions.

  • And he would wake sometimes in grief, sometimes with the old sense of joy and release; the pillow sometimes wet, sometimes the sheets.

There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe, but nothing could be done about it, and if you can't fix it you've got to stand it.

  • When the postcard came--thirty cents--he pinned it up in his trailer, brass-headed tack in each corner. Below it he drove a nail and on the nail he hung the wire hanger and the two old shirts suspended from it. He stepped back and looked at the ensemble through a few stinging tears.

"Jack, I swear--" he said, though Jack had never asked him to swear anything and was himself not the swearing kind.

  • Around that time Jack began to appear in his dreams, Jack as he had first seen him, curly-headed and smiling and bucktoothed, talking about getting up off his pockets and into the control zone, but the can of beans with the spoon handle jutting out and balanced on the log was there as well, in a cartoon shape and lurid colors that gave the dreams a flavor of comic obscenity. The spoon handle was the kind that could be used as a tire iron.

  • This will go down as one of my top best endings ever! The entire movie was beyond great.

I loved how he tucked Jack's shirt inside his own and "Jack I swear..." just made the ending all the more powerful. Great movie.

  • I always took "Jack I swear" to mean that even though Ennis had been with other people, and despite the fact that he always turned Jack down when offered to run away with him, that Ennis sweared his feelings were true and that he had always loved Jack more than anything else.

  • @rinraiden

Same thing I thought :] This was a great movie.

  • I took it to mean that, and that perhaps he would do it differently, if he could go back.

  • He means that he will go to the marriage of his daughter. Because he never had time for jack and he want´s to make it better now.

  • what does he mean by 'jack i swear" ?

  • Can't really hear what he says! Does he say "Jack, I swear"? If so, what does he swear? :'(

  • one of the best love stories ever

  • this made me cry!!!!!

  • Beautiful film and a great love story. And I say that as a 100% hetero male.

  • couldnt agree more

  • i totally agree

  • @ancalites

Same here man. I'm hetero but even a blind man could see that this movie was great: From beginning to end.

  • @ancalites: Ditto.

  • @dynaflow74 ghost =)

  • A love that could never be

  • So, did he died or not?!
