Dragon Age Origins was an epic game... You did so many things, you explored so many areas, so many different environmnets.. The battle if not as fun as the second one was harder (in a good way) and more tactical.. The story was amazing and large in scale... The game is actually one of my favorites and deffinitelly on my top 5 of all time... DA 2 on the other side did some things better, but the game felt like the 1/3 of what DAO was..

The real reason why this game isn't very high rated is because you won't even halfway achieve all the levels before you complete entire game. And when you do complete it. There won't be anything thing else you can do but to start all over again with a with a new saved data and start all the way back to level 1. Otherwise you have to download the extras which all together costs WAY more than what you have paid for the game itself.
ure playin the console version and 360 to make it worse,. :S ,. the ps3 console version looks better and also the pc version gameplay and graphics are much much better,. this 360 representation doesnt give the pc version justice at all,. gamespot gave pc version 9.5 and console version 9.0

I played dragon age 2 demo and it was the first time i ever played dragon age game. i didn't know you can manually attack by pressing the attack button. i thought the game was an rpg where the characters automatically attack. can you manually attack/press an attack button also in the first game dragon age origins?
@AgentCell well, you press the x/b button on the game in battle, the character will approach a enemy and attack with a basic assault. you can set powers to the other buttons.

@GRAFFDEMON nah i have to disagree, dragon age had nothing to do with mainstream hackknslash, it was mostly an rpg that was a fantasy version of KOTOR, since it lacked the qualities of wow and dnd that make those games unique (wow has massive multiplayer and dnd handles quite differently) but it was handled like a tabletop rpg due to the pause'n select move style of it.
You could try slowing down a bit when you talk because sometimes it makes your words a bit hard to follow. Just trying to help you, no offense. Nice review, though. Might have to pick this game up finally. Never played an RPG before, but the action in this looks really intense.

Also this is more like Mass Effect than Baldur's Gate, as id has no exploration - what real RPG from Ultima to Fallout to Baldur's Gate to the Witcher doesn't have the wonder of exploration? This game has enforced fast travel instead! Bioware strengths are in story telling, so they should write books or make movies, but when it comes to interactive games, it is getting too shallow.

It does happen on PC - Sometimes, but I think its a bit glitched, if you move as the boss dies, it ends up stopping the animation. Atleast thats how it is to me.

Balance your party. Bring a tank character (ideally a warrior with a shield, or a two-hander on easy), at least one mage, with a healing spell or two; learning cone of cold is a good thing. The rest is pretty much up to you. You can also turn the difficulty up and down at any time, so if you feel it's too hard, try turning it down a notch. Also, potions are there to be used, get herbalism on a character, this will help you quite a lot in the long run.
I was wondering if this game was sort of like Oblivion, in the sense that you get a main quest to do but after that you are free to explore the world getting side quests. Or has this got more of a focus on the main story?

dude, im experienced rpg player (played more than 20 rpgs) and on normal i get out barely alive out of each battle, this game is really hard and makes you think and plan tactics, your main char is the healer? i picked a mage but honestly i think ill reroll a ranged rogue or dualwield warrior, altho having a mage in the team is awesome, what level are you atm? im around 15
Trust me it's great, you can issue tactics for each specific character so when you're not controlling them, they'll do certain actions under different situations.
For example, you can set it so if you've got a mage who's good at healing, every time a member of your party's health is under 50 percent, they'll be healed, long as you're not controlling that character.
Its ok i just dont like getting overwhelmed. getting 7 or 8 and my group attacking 1 or 2 at once and then they die then i get another group. I like the ame i like the mosnters. Just I cam from oblivion style to you need to control a group. And also what the biggest disappointment is its not as open world as oblivion yes you have to load in and outside of a city. but you can wander almost ever where. in this game you cant really.
@kittenclaws187 It means you have a spell activate all the time. On PC look down in the bottom right, there should be a graphic in a green box, highlight with the mouse and it will tell you. Also, you can go into your tactics and see what is listed under 'Self - Any'.
4:06 Cone of Cold is the name of that move...Which is the same name of the move a mage uses in World of Warcraft. Convenient? I think not....Anyways. I played this game, and out of honesty I think it got pretty boring pretty fast.

Notice the three symbols on the bottom right? See the little color-coded buttons?

With that evidence, I made my comment. I just didn't want people to NOT buy the game because he pretty much said the control were annoying when it wasn't true.

actually they do use there abilities they don't just swing there sword you have to put there abilites out on the little action bar thing they have so they can use them.

demon's souls is fun, but has no story.
if u want to get involved in the story of the game ur playing, i wuld suggest this, but gameplay wise, i cant tell ya. i haven't played DAO. But i hear the story is great, and the story in DS sucks, plus its hard as hell. which i kind of like, but idk. ur choice.

after playing like 10 i must say this game is one of the best RPGs i have ever played, due to great story(im medieval junkie), voice(you feel as if all those chars and the game itself are real, on other words, youre GONE), graphics is nice, not top notch but nice, after all graphics isnt everything, another good attribute of the game is AI, funny that when youre casting tempest a mob will run up and bash you interrupting xD

dude, im experienced rpg player (played more than 20 rpgs) and on normal i get out barely alive out of each battle, this game is really hard and makes you think and plan tactics, your main char is the healer? i picked a mage but honestly i think ill reroll a ranged rogue or dualwield warrior, altho having a mage in the team is awesome, what level are you atm? im around 15

Trust me it's great, you can issue tactics for each specific character so when you're not controlling them, they'll do certain actions under different situations.
For example, you can set it so if you've got a mage who's good at healing, every time a member of your party's health is under 50 percent, they'll be healed, long as you're not controlling that character.

Its ok i just dont like getting overwhelmed. getting 7 or 8 and my group attacking 1 or 2 at once and then they die then i get another group. I like the ame i like the mosnters. Just I cam from oblivion style to you need to control a group. And also what the biggest disappointment is its not as open world as oblivion yes you have to load in and outside of a city. but you can wander almost ever where. in this game you cant really.

@kittenclaws187 It means you have a spell activate all the time. On PC look down in the bottom right, there should be a graphic in a green box, highlight with the mouse and it will tell you. Also, you can go into your tactics and see what is listed under 'Self - Any'.

Well, not really. Cone of Cold is also a Level 5 Mage Spell from Bioware's excellent Baldur's Gate series, which was made well before WoW came out.
