I remember this film from my childhood, and it was dubbed in English. This is my favorite version of the Cinderella story. I would love to find the dubbed or a subtitled version!
I have just seen the british version for the first time, I hate THIS! All the flair and magic is gone with this guy talking all together. The music convered by blabla... sad!
Compare the original versions in german or czech to this! By the way, it was a coproduction of Czechoslovakia and the GDR (not only czech!), the original versions exist parallel, czech and german, filmed near Dresden (castle and stables), DEFA-studios in Potsdam near East-Berlin (ballroom)
@suuf1 I don't know, it's kind of like reading a book, you have to imagine the voices yourself. But I agree that the narrator does his best to ruin the moment.
PS: the odd thing is that in Ever After and in this film both princes almost look alike and in both films, the heroine doesn't need to be rescued by a man. I wish this was dubbed into English so even my daughter could enjoy the entire film as it best could be. I'd be happy to translate this anytime!!!!!!!
Drew Barrymore's Ever After is almost like a copy of this film, close, but no lumps sort to say as nothing will ever come close to Czech Cinderela. Nase Popelka je nej!
THREE WALNUTS FOR CINDERELA as the only thing she asks for is whatever falls down to tickle his nose- when the servant takes a trip to town to shop for the household.
It is nicely narrated, but not translated all that right and I wish everyone spoke Czech to know how beautiful this tale truly is. I have NEVER seen a fairy tale so nicely made, maybe Mrozok (father Winter from Russia).
Hazelnuts!! The exact translation is THREE HAZELNUTS FOR CINDERELLA.
Not walnuts (as someone mentioned bellow) god damn it!! :-D It would be a freaking nightmare try to crack a walnut with bare hands... Poor Popelka.

@suuf1 Interesting. Were the actors speaking BOTH languages.
i.e. filmed a scene in Czech and then re-done with the same actors speaking their lines in German?
I saw this BBC version as a kid but the Czech with English subs is the best.

THE CORRECT TITLE OF THIS FILM IS:
THREE WALNUTS FOR CINDERELA as the only thing she asks for is whatever falls down to tickle his nose- when the servant takes a trip to town to shop for the household.
