Managed to stop the video at :28 and see many branches not seen earlier.

Thunder arrives too soon. Lightning bolt must have gone right overhead and then into ocean. We hear the overhead explosion first and and continuing arrival of sound until it reaches the most distant point.

@ScubaBuddha ur an idiot light travels faster than sound and u could hear the sound milliseconds after it hits the water. also its not going to be deafening if its 1100 ft. away it could be 100 ft. and be Loud but wont be deafening to your ear with only a ring. there are electrons in the water and in the clouds their both positive which means lightening couldn't hit the water but some parts down if its salt water it has a negative proton which attracts and lightening hits. hope that explains

@projektor4 Thats not fake sound effect, the strike was probably only half a mile away so the sound would hardly lag behind the flash at all, you can still hear the drips etc in the background as the thunder rumbles.
