  • BEST FEMALE RAPPER EVER PERIOD!!!

  • Hip HOP is in a sad state if one must be a gangster to be a rapper. It is no longer about good music, only street peeps tring to make a hustle.

  • you can't blame her most rappers are fake gangtas.

  • yea she was fake but she was good and went the acting route. knew what she can sell and got it off one time. like mike jones.

  • Her career was on the rise as her singles Deeper & Recipe of a Hoe hit #1 on the charts. But by then Law's fledgling career took a major blow when she revealed in an 1994 interview with The Wall Street Journal that she grew up in an upper middle class family & attended private school. Def Jam shelved her 2nd album & dropped her from the label. She moved to Dallas, Texas and went on to be a radio DJ. In 2004 she released a mix tape titled The Six Million Dollar Mix Tape.

  • Lichelle Laws(Boss) was born in 1969 in Detroit, Michigan. She was a female gangsta rapper along with her DJ(Dee) who briefly enjoyed popularity in 1993 with her debut album Born Gangstaz. BTW the name Boss is an acronym that stands for Bitches On Some Shit. She relocated to Los Angeles after graduating high school then was spotted by DJ Quik who let her be on a track with AMG. Russell Simmons liked the track & promptly signed her to Def Jam West(Yes it did exist).

  • Backin my bad days my boys used to bump here alot. The only time I heard her was in a car.lol I never had a chance to listen to her, but dude said she was studio.............I don't know if I want to now.

  • man, boss is harder than some of these gay cats nowadays ya'heard!

  • THE BEST

  • I don't give a fuck about street cred. Why should that even matter once you get in the damn studio?

  • I loved Boss. Yeah, she was really a suburban kid and not a gangsta. I don't care, her shit was tight.

  • YeA! Dey say she was studio gangsta but fuck it i loved her anyway!!!DA TAPE WENT HARD!!

  • One of the hottest tracks of ALL TIME, Chamillionaire used this beat for his song picture perfect. Not a shocker since boss is a DJ in Texas now

  • DJ INTEXAS??? HIS NAMES IS IQUAL ?

  • If thats the case, today's rappers crying bout keeping it real ,meanwhile, Emcee Hammer was keeping it real to the fullest, and we shitted all over him. I could imagin Hammer cussing out rappers every time he hears "keep it real".

  • This chick was one of the ten GREATEST rappers ever in history and got a bum deal. I can't believe that anyone gives a #%(# that she was not from the hood or even that she made believe she was. There are lot's of people who lived the hard life who can't rap for their lives. She was unbelievably great and that is all that matters. What a loss that she was not permitted to continue her career. A great loss to rap history. So many lesser artists came after her. She should be better known.

  • wymiata na dzielni !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the best female MC's ever...

  • Man the original is so much better than this! No justice on this "clean" version.

  • This shit is dope, boss was madd dope!!!!!!!!

  • a female disrespecting a women..? Ooooo

  • Nice

  • this girls hot

  • This song is a trip down memory lane! Whatever happened to Boss?

  • she used this album to pay for school! She now some fortune 500 co.

  • chill beat.

  • this shit was the shit and who gives a fuck if she studio cuz half these muthafuckas these days are studio and u no when u first heard this u was like damnnnnn this bitch gangsta as hell so dont hate

  • thats right. this sht was slammin! Nuff respect to the Boss lady.

  • so good... = to Mc Lyte

  • This is a bad ass bitch. She is the only female rapper that brought it that hard. Yes, MC Lyte was all that. But MC Lyte was the shit in the 80's. If you ask me, Boss never got the credit she deserved. She brought to light the struggle a female in the hood at THAT time. Da Brat my have got more air play during the early 90's, but she is so fuckin weak its ridiculous. Its a shame, really.

  • sooo wut if shes a studio gangsta she bettta den most rapppers out now

  • HER FLOW WAS RAW AS HELL AND REAL

  • this is crazy! this was the first fuckin cd i loved when i was like 13 and i am 30 now..ha...youtube has every fuckin thing!!!!

  • I use to rock out this ablum on tape...shoot this song is still gansta..." Don't even think of steppin to me G"..AG NYC!!!!

  • boss was never OUTED. if anything she OUTED HERSELF. if anybody has heard the whole album, she says it all in the INTRO. she just happened to play that gangsta role really damn good.

  • True I just read an article and Boss wasnt really faking much of anything now that ive read about her. I have the link for a really good article/interview she did in late Dec 08. If you want it hit me up.

  • yea i want that i been hearin different stories first she in catholic skool lived upper class then she moved to l.a. wit her homgirl and slang rox then became a rapper. but she never kill nobody or been a gangsta. so idk but i would like to read whats up tho.

  • yeh for real bought her album back in woo i think 92 so any think will be propa

  • im interested in that link... yo she killed it, i had this on tape, thats right kiddies cassettes!!!

  • niiice!!!

  • BOSS was, and still is the hardest. Tairrie B was rough too, but she was just an in your face b.i.t.c.h.. BOSS was heading down the road towards 2Pac. I miss these days if hip hop.

  • come on now..

  • That is a stretch of comparison huh. Tarri B aint no damn Boss.

  • Boss was the illest ahh! Come back Boss, wake these weak @ss rappers up!

  • I know that's right MIss her to death yo

  • i would like to have her for hoes that talk trash to me!!!!!

  • She is AMG's sister

  • This was da 1st chick I remember being on dat gangsta shit after NWA came out. She made me get her tape after I saw this shit on the box. She was RAW!! HER WHOLE ALBUM WAS DA SHIT!! I always wondered what really happened 2 her. After dat 1st albun, she was a ghost. If she was really "exposed" & blackballed 4 being educated, DATS FUCKED UP!! She had ability 2 fuck up a lotta niggas on da mic back then, let alone any women. If she stayed on dat path, SHE WOULD BE ON A MC LYTE LEVEL!! I SAID IT!!

  • Word UP I agree! And she waS the ONLY female artist to step to the fellas and come off just as hard! She was killin' em! Lyte CAN be touched, but only by a few

  • those were the days the box was the shit they were like the old version of you tube lol

  • So are you implying that rappers are suppose to be uneducated to maintain respect and street credibility?

  • Boss sounds a little like a female Easy E.

  • The Boss was great! so what if it was corporate selling dumb ass shit on us, I loved her!

  • If BOSS was fake, she tapped dat "Gangsta Rap" culture azz 4 real and made out like a fat rat. I know she was fine!

  • Comment removed

  • Boss had 1 of the illest flows and voices by a female rapper ever! Fuck what u heard AINT to many bitches that could fuck wit her on the mic!

  • if she is a fraud, she pulled a very good one and got over

  • STUDIO GANGTSA

  • Most rappers are. its called Image.

  • I don't give a fuck if she did go to Harvard or any other college....this bitch is hard as hell and will murder any "hood" female rapper out there past & present. It's sad that a well educated, catholic school girl can out gangsta rap bitches from the hood, but street cred or not, Boss is GANGSTA. DEAL WITH IT!!!!!

  • She may have been a studio gangsta but I argue on that one. She was obviously smart enough to out do many female rappers that were from the hood. Then again most "gansta" rappers aren't as hood as their image portrays them to be.

  • she destroys every female rapper out there today!

  • big ups to detroit for this one!

  • Yes, this is a classic?

  • This joint is classic!

  • She got exposed 4 being a fake gangsta, she went 2 catholic school and was actuall going 2 Harvard when this album came out.

  • Alot of artists went to high class schools, do your research more dog. Just because she had a good education doesnt mean she ain't worthy of her due respect.

"Stanley Benton (Stat Quo) attended University of Florida, where he majored in economics.

Paul Slayton (Paul Wall) studied mass communications at the University of Houston.

Talib Kweli studied experimental theater at New York University."

  • Im not disputing the fact that Boss wasnt a raw ass rapper but; N the early 90's at the height of "Gangsta Rap", she was exposed as being a fraud. Its true she was very intelligent and rap was another hustle 4 her, but once everyone found out about her education, her career was over. Its just hard 2 believe that a Harvard Grad is killing, selling drugs and is forced N2 a life of crime when other rappers R actually living that way. She had skills but wasn't excepted 4 her true talents.

  • Everybody tries to make mention of her being a fraud...but for those who have heard her album the intro has her mother stating these very things on the voicemail skit...I don't think anything was really hidden.

  • i'm very doubtful of her being "exposed"....none of that stuff was ever proven just rumored...

  • Man, SHE DID grow up in Baldwin Hills. She used to kick it with 2nd II None and AMG< the DJ Quik click and is related to one of the guys.

Considering Hip Hop is all image driven now, I could hardly see the problem with it. I wish she had stuck around. Her cd was FIYAH!

  • The sadder part of all of this is that the music execs and artist(s) felt the "gansta" image was/ is needed to sell. This is just another method of the dumming down of Black folk. We're the only ethnic group where "keeping it real" and "keeping it hood" garner the most respect from our so-called peers than getting educated and being a responsible and productive citizen. Sad indeed.

  • repppin the d

  • Where is she now? Can anyone tell me?

  • I second this question?

  • Hell yeah that's Boss

  • Thanks for posting!

  • This album was classic but was banned in 93' after it came out along with MCrens' Shock of the Hour

  • you gotta hear the remix to drive by. THATS THE ONE

  • haha classic real music doe!!!gangsta bitch!

  • Knew this boy you bought her debut album and was he ever obsessed plus I was thought she was a very pretty woman.

  • Boss maybe studio Gangster but not fully. Those two songs (Let ho be a ho) and (Progress of a Elimantion) was actually inspired by her Street Hustle days In LOS ANGELES, BOSS HAD TO HUSTLE BEFORE A MAJOR RECORD DEAL, THREW DEF JAM CAME ABOUT CAME.

  • Found this on wikipedia, any one heard this:

In 2004, she released a mixtape titled The Six Million Dollar Mixtape. Boss currently is working on her third LP entitled, "American STREET-Heart" slated for release 4th quarter 2008

  • anyonw knows where i can meet Boss?Tell me, ill go look for her lol

  • SHE'S FROM DETROIT MI

  • IM IN LOVE TO BOSS.I LOVE HER.

  • The only female hip hop artist with an album containing consistant hard ass flow. Every track was hard and excellent.

  • from back them, she gotta lesbian flow...but still on hit!

  • can anyone tell me how to meet Boss?Shes the best female rapper ever.Infact i can say the best rapper ever

  • Last i read she was in some town in texas and now about to try to come back out sometime in the near future, but that was about a year ago so atleast she's still in the biz, but this new rap might not let real talent like hers resurface.

  • tks bro, for the infos.Boss is the best rapper of all times.i think her skill is similar to dat of Dr Dre.

  • She still sounds fresher than the bullshit that's out now..

  • THE BEST FEMALE RAPPER OF ALL TIMES

  • i hate that they edit this song. the album version is better. i know she had to all her songs over in order to be played on the radio.

  • I bought this Boss record back in 93...is it just me or does this still sound fresher than most of the crap out on the radio now?

    Timeless

  • All hiphop from the 90's is better than the stuff out now. Even the mediocre stuff from back then is better than the "freshest" stuff out now.

  • She had mad skills. Shouldve blown up because her flow, delivery, and rhymes were on point.

  • Hey Boss was my girl, I wouldn't care if she came from an Ivy League College.. she had the sound, voice and antics.. to become one of the best female rappers ever.. no one can touch her to this day... They give actors academy awards for playing specific characters but they never have walked in those shoes...Boss was the Boss and I would love to know what she is doing today.. this moment I would support her no matter what.. She was BAD!!!!

  • I dont gie a fuck how old she is ...she is still a BAD ASS muhfucka. I like Da Brat butthey can play Boss shit on the radio today and stir up some shit. This young generation aint heard this before.

  • yo boss your are the best of them bitches. i'm your number one fan.

  • Yea One Of Da Best Female Rappers

Dis Is Real Hip Hop :)

  • this tha real shit man

    when real rap was rap

not that mainstreamshit, where those g´s forgot where they come from

    peace

  • THIS USE TO BE MY SHIT!!!!

  • u gota let a hoe b a hoe on the real!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yo Boss you are the best female gangster alive a true fan to the motherf*ckin heart. Miss you girl I still got your CD..Love you forever word life ma from Keish in NYC.

  • she must suck them hard

  • 9 deuce.

Had every damn rap album out.

I need a time machine for my music.

  • I miss her.. =/ wtf? happened to her...

  • She's a radio personality in Dallas,Tx...She's admitted that she wasnt really doing alot of the stuff that she talked about in her songs, but alot of rappers dont do any of the shit they claim to do.

  • Thnx for da update =]

  • One hit or fake, I never forgot about her. She was still hot. NWA was fake too...

  • no matter where u was born at. U move to Killa Kali you guaranteed to be on that gangsta shit. Kali is the king of that shit. Ain't no other state(s) fucking wit' it.

  • Lichelle "Boss" Laws seemed to be the most gangsta of girl gangstas. She posed with automatic weapons, bragged that she did prison time and claimed she was from the hard-knock streets of Detroit.

    Fake, exclaimed her parents.

Lichelle was a good girl who they put through private school and enrolled in college in suburban Detroit. Her parents, an auto worker dad and schoolteacher mom, wanted her to be an achiever, but Lichelle Laws became enamored with gangsta hip-hop culture.

  • u r right but this song is still the crank

  • Thank you. As much as I admire Boss' lyrical ability, she was a studio gangster.

  • So what if she was a studio gangster. Most so called gansters are. If they did some of the stuff they claimed to do on these records, they would not be making records.

  • The point is that I don't have respect for frauds, and when I see one, I will call out him/her.

I respect Boss' lyrical ability, but I don't like the fact that she portrayed a false image.

  • best female rapper ever!

  • Are you retarded. Lauryn Hill would slay her.

  • im preety sure lauryn hill is only for faggets and collige kids

  • stupid pussy ass puto, boss iz bumpin'

  • Are you retarded? Fake or not, one hit wonder or not, she was one of if not the best up and coming female rapper. Her lyrics and flow she possessed back then . . . back then still topples any female rap artist today. Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, Lauren Hill, gimme a fuckin break. She was even better than Da Brat and McLyte IMO. Listen to her other songs, find the lyrics and you will see why. She was a threat, even to male rappers and people did some digging to get rid of the competition, period.

  • You are 100% correct,. The Boss was a different from the usual female rapper. Her voice, her apperance, her content. There is a girl that passed away in New York that was a part of the Duckdown family. She was featured with Rustee Juxx. She reminded me of the Boss. I think the Boss wa from Detroit.

  • better than da brat and mc lyte IYO?blasphemy utter blasphemy

  • Hell yeah they did some diggin way to good of and artist to have just left like that .She ws killin em they had to get rid of her...

  • lmfao rusty bastadz jajajaja!!

  • most female rappers wish the had the skillz now BOSS had then

  • She had some good Lyrics on her Born Gangstaz Album. I bought that when i was young. Memorized every word too.

She is sick now with liver or kidney problems though, but still can rap with the best of them.

  • SHE LOOKS LIKE OLD AALIYAH

  • she was sooooooooooo cute. She never admitted to be gay, BOSS was just too thugged out.

I had this album twice. SHAME SHE WAS A 1 HIT WONDER. Did my research on this cocoa covered cutie from MoTown and found out that she dropped a gem (album) to pay her way through college. I guess that degree sounded better than mastering the pop charts

  • She is from Detroit

  • Just like I-20 say, FUCK IF YOU REAL, I need some shit I can ride too!!!

    Boss shit was raw!!!

She'd and anyone would be dumb to live what they rhymin!!! It would be dumb for STEVEN KING To act out his movies right? Okay

    Respect it or check it

  • She is real. Maybe not a real gangsta but a real emcee. Nah mean?

  • Where u at BOSS! I miss u. GOD b with you

  • She is tight! Studio Gangstar/Wankstar who cares...Half these rappers don't lead the lives that they represent. They have ghost writers put their shit together and then have the label fabricate criminal history to get street cred, which is essential for a gangsta rapper. I heard a well known west coast rapper went to jail and got his ass dug out by a huge Mexican dude. Sooner or later, you got to back up what you rep! All that talk did't keep that booty digger out of his ass! Ouch!!!!!!!

  • she so hard

  • this was my shit ol high school days cpt....

  • I love BOSS, I would def purchase a new album of hers. I just hope she stays true to her original music!

  • i actually think she changed up her style she was from a preppy private school before the studio got to her. this is just an image, but she did have 2 ill songs.

  • Yeah she was so I have heard. But hey it is what it is! NO one that is a true fan of hip-hop can say they did not vibe off these 2 joints! You have admitted it....LOL

  • i love this song because it gave females a sense a pride instead of bein degraded

  • I LOVE BOSS

  • I remember when she was on YO! MTV Raps sayin BOSS stands for Bitch On Some Shit and how she didn't wear panties, Victoria's Secret or none of that shit. Strictly boxers. She lives in Michigan and has a little girl.

  • She got an album coming out this year.

  • Wasn't her Dad a stockbroker? Or something along the lines?

  • No female rapper wanted to battle boss bcuz she would have slayed them quicker than a lightning strike. Eve would have been slaughtered by boss majorly.

  • real shit word

  • I agree.... She still the baddest. Even tho she has a kid. If she came out today, ... this young generation would like that shit because they were born when real gangsta music came out or after and dont know about it.Real gangstaz dont have criminal records. I KNOW because i have a business, and a job. Do your shit and dont get caught is how a real G's handle bizznezz beeeitch. These rappers today just rap for fun and telling stories. (shake ya tamborine).....lol I like eve tho

  • Can somebody say, "Studio Gangsta?" She was tight though.

  • mad skillz but to masculine.

  • if you dont know about boss, you're either too young, or not a REAL hip hop head

  • Check out this broad name Phat Katt on myspace. She know all about this song spreadin herpes around like it aint nothin

  • i forgot about Boss for a minute! nice. takes me back.

  • Wow! This was the song summer 1993!Sniff! Take me back to those days when women could rap!

  • when was that? nah, i'm just playin'. but for real though, ain't too many of them worth mentioning besides mc lyte. she's probably the only one that everybody'll say is dope, instead of just dope for a female.

  • Ya gotta let a hoe be a hoe! We gotta bring this kinda shit back yall! She was better than 90% of these rappers 2day!

  • Can no bitch go gangsta like this without talking about they're pussy or how good they give head or how much money and diamonds they got. Let's get back to this...cause after a while this kind of music will be the new music again.

  • Once again Ill say it again remember the name boss when u making your list of female goat

  • She was cool besides her hood stoy.

  • Wow!! A great hook!! This was my joint!! Boss was the shit!!

  • word up!! reminds me of the good ol days

  • very laid bag track

  • Female Eazy-E

  • yea thatz true

  • Except that she wrote her own rhymes. Eazy didn't.

  • As-salaam alaykum

    O'siyo

I have to admit that this song was my ANTHEM and I loved Boss- I've learned "Deeper" was a literal metaphor for Black Power. But this jam.... DC has taught me the meaning... :)

    Ma salaam, Asante

    Maryam

  • that song I DONT GIVE A FUCK gets me going. my lil rebel song when i was a kid. i was like 7 or 8 when this came out. her song was on that movie strapped. that fake ass JUICE knock off. anyway. i still listen to this cd til this day. ive had the same one since 1993.

  • im happy that i have her album born gangstaz. i first heard her on Spice 1s album 187 he wrote on "dont ring the alarm" soo good.

  • Boss was underrated. She was every bit as good as Lyte and Latifah.

  • she is definetely one of leading ladies in the all time history of the hip hop game. saying that she was underrated is an understatement.

  • I agree not to many female rappers could touch these lyrics now.

  • Exactly! Can you imagine Lil Kim or Remy Ma trying to flow like this? They would sound like Mushmouth from the Fat Albert cartoon!!

  • I still listen to her album as of today

  • Boss went to St. Mary's of Redford in Detroit (same school I went to... forgot her real name as I had just entered the school the same time she blew up...). I'm surprised everybody discredited her because of her upbringing... SMR High was usually also filled with kids who were expelled from PUBLIC SCHOOL! Damn those were the days.

  • I always wonderred what happened to her, RECIPE and DEEPER were great tracks. She was the next great thing, 2nd to McLyte and Salt & Pep. I always blasted her shit in my VW Bug. She could still blow up on the scene today and be HOT.

  • hardest female rapper period.. her album was way ahead of all these gucci bitches
