@SolaceMarine I had a 67 Impala whose shift linkage was so sloppy that the neutral safety switch could disengage in gear enabling the engine to start in Drive. It actually gave me a choice between having the backup lights work or having a working NSSW. I chose the working NSSW.

Nuetral Safety switch goes bad then people bypass it. Saw my garage manager take out our parts room..no one hurt...but hillarious! Probably Europe isnt forced to build cars with BTSI Brake-Transmission Shift Interlock.

Is it a manual? Floor mat on the clutch? Or maybe a bad clutch? My only point is people do strange stuff to there vehicles... I drove one guys car in the garage (almost through the garage) who had bent his brake over to touch his accelerator so when he pushed hard enough he could powerbrake.
