  • I wouldn't mind having one of these kits with the digital display.

How much do they go for?

  • One issue I see is they are wired to the same voltage. The SBM likes 350- 400V, Whereas the LND likes 500V. That means one or both of these isn't running at their desired voltage. That could skew the test.

  • @L337g4m3r Yea, I ran the the SBM-20 a bit hot. These tubes have a pretty wide and flat plateau, and I get much the same response when I run them separately at the recommended voltages. In any case, I just wanted to make a quick comparison. But you're right, they should be run at different voltages.

  • Hello Sir,

Where did youget the circuit board from? Is that your own board? Thanks.

  • @blackhead2009 Yes, it's my own board from a kit I am offering. More info here . . .

  • Very nice comparision of those two geiger tubes. Every geiger tube LND and SMB has unique advantage for Alpha or Beta-Gamma detection.

My opinion is that you present the best combination with very sensitive probes.

I think that this video can show quality of your Geiger counter kit.

    I recommend it.

  • @crnazvijezda

    Thanks much!

  • @crnazvijezda

    Thanks much!

  • The LND712's window is much more sensitive to alpha particles....nice comparison and nice detector....I have an SBM-20 and may make a similar counter...regards...

  • @schoolmaster1945 We used mostly Eberline detectors when I was involved in that field BTW....
