  • This song truly shows the rawness and power of Nirvana and I see it as 'a big fuck you, I don't care what people think :)'

  • :)

  • man i love nirvana this to me is my smells like teen spirit on a side note anybody know about the whole grunge name me i personally never liked it tbh i was just wondering how that name came about

  • Little Known Fact: Krist is the person saying the opening lines.

  • @TheApatheistic1 Little known? He did it on every stage performance of this song. Lol.

  • I did a cover of this song and put it in the video responses, appreciate if you guys could check it out =)

    RIP Mr Cobain :(

  • This and "On A Plain" are my two favorite songs off this cd.. (: And so is "Something In The Way".. But for some reason I put that in a totally different category.. Hahah.

But seriously, "Teen Spirit" is a good song, but highly overrated, I mean Nirvana has some better songs, they should see the light too.. -.-

  • @LWalton93 I totally agree. I mean Something In The Way is probably the best one off here, I mean I love Nevermind, but In Utero's probably their best :) At least I think. And Smells Like Teen Spirit is a great song and I love it, but it's not their best.

  • My favorite part of this song is "Just because your paranoid, doesn't mean they're not after you" (:

  • @LWalton93 Mine too :)

  • @LWalton93 I know, it's like if Kurt was telling you "you're really fucked up!"

  • Just waiting for Drain You to kick in every time i finish listening to this. Best screaming ever at the end

  • nevermind is stil awesome!

  • this song is a total brain fuck

  • everyone tells me nirvana is alternitave rock..... BULLSHIT its grunge

  • @brandonsaunders69 to me 'grunge' is when music is too 'punk' to be 'rock' but in some cases isn't 'punk' enough to be just considered 'punk' .. fucking labels :/

  • @geniusNoNotReally grunge means punk from Seattle ^^

  • @maximedelrieu thanks for educating me

  • @geniusNoNotReally actually it means nothing it's clearly a fucking label, Nirvana is not so punk, it's a "punky" guitar style and lyrics but bass&drums is definetely at a higher level than "classic" punk rock

  • @maximedelrieu i never really thought about this at the time (in '94 i was about 11) but now that im older, i don't like the idea of a certain type of music coming just from one place. i mean, can you really tell where a band comes from just by hearing a song of theirs and go 'yeah that sounds like Seattle'. I get that movements begin in certain places, but just because a band came from Seattle are they therefore authentic grunge, where another band that sounds 100% grunge isn't? its annoying

  • @geniusNoNotReally Idiot Majors need to classify their stuff for their stores ... music sweet music ... the matter is the feeling not the label ;)

  • love it <3

  • I like to skull fuck the shit outta some bitch to this song

  • 20 years old. Wow. And after the 90's music has barely progressed :)

  • Nirvana stripped of all the studio production ... this could be their song closest to Kurt's real vision

  • on the last verse of the chorus.. I swear he opts to "burn" a way. ;)

  • Lol, that baby on the front is old enough to buy a pint now.

  • This was and still is better than Teen Spirit. SOOOOOOO UNDERATED

Lol @ the covers in video responses. GET OVER YOURSELVES

  • hell yea... GOTTA FIND A WAY TO FIND A WAY WHEN IM THERE! RIP KURT....(smokeweedeveryday)

  • Powerful

  • Love the ending!

    And love the rest! :D

  • @kkey2112 do you know whats that from ?

  • @AlbertFisher119 The Youngbloods - Get Together

  • 20 years of Nevermind... still awesome...

  • @TheGuitarProphet damn we're getting old

  • whats the opening from it sounds familiar

  • @Darkstar27100 haha drain you is the original one I came for too, strange

  • @Darkstar27100 haha drain you is the original one I came for too, strange

  • this is like punk-rock :)

  • @TheWladeS Not a suprise considering grunge has parts of it's roots in 80'ies hardcore punk (which is different to what is considered "hardcore punk" these days).

Especially Nirvana has ties to punk. Dave Grohl is an alumnus of the Washington D.C. hardcore punkscene and later touring guitarist Pat Smear (of who Kurt was a fan) is one of the founders of "The Germs". Cobain listened to a lot of punk (as well as other genres) and hardly hid his influences or favourite musicians.

  • @LordAssortedBits Speaking of influences from other genres, I'm curious if Kurt Cobain was a fan of Slayer, because one of the parts in Paper Cuts sounds a lot like a Slayer part. Also, the "yay" riff after the chorus in Smells like Teen Spirit is dissonant and kinda metal.

  • @austinfailz I guess that metally edge is inspired by The Melvins, which was a huge influence on Nirvana (singer/guitartist Buzz even introduced Dave Grohl to the other two), and who started out as a band blending punk and metal. Thrashmetal as a genre is one of the hybrid-genres of punk and metal (besides a lot of "core"-suffix rockgenres).

  • @LordAssortedBits I kinda figured it had something to do with The Melvins, but wasn't sure and was really curious if Kurt enjoyed a few metal bands. Slayer of all the "Big Four" Thrash Metal bands is probably the most "punk rock", sans Megadeth's Peace Sells album.

  • 1:28 "Just cause your in Paramore, doesn't mean your having glue"

  • @Abercrombieand1Bitch totally wrong lyrics bro

  • @thelastkoda I know...misheard lyrics

  • @wwwspelenlsucks FUCK OFF

  • @MrSkynet7

    seriously?

you dont want nevermind 20th aniversary to have a google doodle?

i mean krist himself proposed this, so what in the name of god ? why would i fuck off, BITCH!

  • @wwwspelenlsucks Yeah! I mean if it was bing, that would suck. Bu Google rocks!

  • First 10 seconds sounds like the singer of The Offspring.

  • @MonoCabron123 please don't ever use the Offspring and Nirvana in the same sentence, thanks.

  • @MonoCabron123 I just said that!

  • @MonoCabron123 we are sorry. But it does sound like him.

  • The beginning sounds like Dexter Holland singing.

  • Truly one of Nirvana's transcending masterpieces

  • Is it only me or anyone else here thinks that this song is way way way underrated??

  • @sandeshbrl1

    yes

  • u guys r fighting and there is rock n roll to save...

  • @odiumimbues "rock n roll" is dead. It died because people don't have freedom any more. If you were to act like a Jim Morrison or even a Kurt Cobain today, you would be arrested. Everyone always wonders why music changes and things come to pass. It isn't because music changes. It's because freedom changes. We are less free today than even 10 years ago. Rock and roll died because you would be thrown in jail today for acting like a rock star, pure and simple.

  • Every time I hear this song my head starts to bang my I start freaking out, please don't ask me why its bad habit lol I was listening to this when I was 10 years old and I am 28 now!!

  • still dont understand the purpose of the baby penis on this album cover. it's not even discrete, its right in your face like BOOM BABY PENIS

  • @ADickGooglSucks yes, because they were thinking exactly that when they put it on the album cover, for sure. In fact, their exact thoughts were: "we are putting a baby penis on here because we want to shock small-minded idiots." I guess it worked, no?

  • @subsamadhi so you're saying im an idiot because i made an obvious and unoffensive comment about the cover art of an epic album that i like. who's the real idiot. u can suck a dick.

  • @ADickGooglSucks I said that it shocks small minded idiots. I didn't say you are, in fact, a small minded idiot. Though assuming that I actually said those words would make you kind of fucking stupid. But I'm not in fact saying you are stupid, or an idiot. Unless you choose to take my comments in that way.

  • @subsamadhi your a fucking idiot. interperet that however you want, asshole, hahaha

  • furthermore if you have above a 2nd grade reading level, youd be able to tell you were calling me an idiot. you're one of the least grunge people ive encountered. sack-up, man

  • @ADickGooglSucks actually, fucktard, I was asking you if the picture shocked you. Go back and read my comment over again. So the question was on you. Apparently you have answered "yes" on all counts. Good luck with that.

  • @subsamadhi the way you wrote it obviously had intentions of a douchebag. and with every other comment you've made you've carried on the same douchebaggery. in fact the last few douchebag statements you made didnt even seem to be relevent to anything

  • @subsamadhi . now, noone gives a fuck so how bout u just drop this stupid fucking bull shit and go be a prick to someone else. no one gives a fuck and im busy having a fucking life, listening to fucking music, and not being a fucking idiot. and if u cant fuck off then fucking kill yourself you worthless miserable piece of shit, then you wont be able to bother anyone. the next attempt at a comment you make I'm not going to fucking read so do whatever you want, bitch.

  • @subsamadhi well to be fair, you did say that you guessed it worked, implieing him.. jus' sayin

  • @ironmetallivana I asked him a question. It's done in the way to imply something but also ask at the same time. They do it in Spanish and French all the time. As in: "the guy was a pinhead for thinking that having a baby's penis on the front was shocking, no?" it's still a question.

  • @subsamadhi well if you say so, the argument entertained me either way

  • @ironmetallivana I please to aim. I just don't like little fucking sissies who can't stand to see nudity. He's the type of person that made Nirvana albums unavailable to the public when they first came out. "Boo hoo, he's showing nudity." Who wants those fucks running around telling us how to do things? Oh yeah, they run everything already, so I guess it's already too late.

  • @subsamadhi agreed

  • @subsamadhi Does the cover count as child pornography?

Yeah I'm right with ya so it's a naked baby on the front we get it. It's art.

  • @Abercrombieand1Bitch no, it's not child pornography. Unless you just sit there an analyze it over and over again like those prudish retards do. You could also argue on that same level that it's "beastiality" because you know that we are animals too, right? It's all just stupid really. Just a naked kid in a pool. We can all move on with our lives now.

  • @subsamadhi yeah

  • @Abercrombieand1Bitch ..and anyone who is offended by it is a closet paedophile. (Kurt Cobain, 1991)

  • @MrThecarebear lol righton

  • drum roll at 0:20 is epic! :D

  • @ronny4ever123 Dave Grohl's the man

  • Look kids, your parents were badass too.

  • @MultiComedyVideos I'm not sure if badass is the right word.

  • @MultiComedyVideos My parents HATED Nirvana >.<

  • PRA QUEM GOSTA DE BARULHEIRA DA BOA !!! AHA.... MASSA D+

  • lol i wanna know who the baby is???

xD he is fucking famous actually

  • This song just makes you wanna kick the shit outa somthing.

  • @Bobbythehammer really??? it totally fucking soothes me.

  • @bondisurfersuperhero didnt say it pissed me off though.

  • @Bobbythehammer yeah. i get u

  • lol the album picture is funny

  • Am I the only one who can't listen to this intro without laughing?

  • @SchizophobicBand no. it 's hilarious. people from seattle are famous for their sense of humor

  • epic song

  • @ReptilianPsycho Haha sure you are xD I mean considering you consider yourself not a boy I doubt you are a sexist narcassist asshole whose only interests are getting "pussy".

  • @alotofcheese76 So... being a boy means you automatically are a sexist narcissist whose only interest is to get pussy ? It's funny, because I do identify as a heterosexual man and I have plenty of interests outside of that, like music, art, literature, love, politics and psychology. So are you telling me that my true identity should be that of a woman ?

  • @SickerThanThou I don't think you read my original comment I said most teenage boys I've met, not all men

  • @alotofcheese76 Now I've read it and I can see that indeed you were talking about most teenage boys you've met, even though I still disagree with ReptilianPsycho's claim that «most men are idiots». And as far as teenage boys go, well, I think most teenagers, boys, girls, both or neither, tend to go through stupid phases due to the fact that they're discovering and building up their identities, which often leads to exaggerated and stereotypical enactments of their «gender roles».

  • @SickerThanThou Well I mean, yeah. And it's like male gender roles (when exaggerated of course) can be very sexist. When you combine that with the immaturity of teenage boys (yes I am saying teenage boys are more immature than teenage girls or gay teens not sure why) than you get a big asshole

  • @alotofcheese76 I don't think you can take an entire category of people and just label them «stupid» or «immature». There are probably tons of immature teenage boys out there, but there are also probably tons of teenage girls and/or LGBT teens who are just as immature. And adults can also be quite immature. Immaturity and stupidity are unfortunately very common and evenly distributed traits amongst human beings, though it's possible that you've had a higher number of bad experiences with boys.

  • @SickerThanThou Well that's what I am saying! The bad experiences I have had!

  • never met a wise man!!!

  • @ReptilianPsycho Haha I am a woman lol and most men (well teenage boys) I have met are idiots lol

  • kurt was murdered god dammit!!!!

  • "Never met a wise man If so it's a woman"

    BEST LYRICS EVER.

  • And Wikipedia editors insist that Nirvana weren't punk. And before you guys try to argue, yes they were also grunge. But to say they weren't also a punk band is flat out idiotic.

  • @HardcoreGamer4Ever FINALLY! A PERSON WITH BRAINS! never leave the earth? please?

  • 23

  • JUST BECASUE IM PARANOID , DONT MEAN THERE NOT AFTER MEEEEEEE

  • Nah it's not punk and it's not grunge it's Nirvana yo!

  • @Psytheslasher nirvana were punk, just not your stereotypical three chord riffs yeno, punks not just one type of music, punk is any music, new or invigorating, it just was punk, grunge also but punk definately, people misconceive the meaning of punk all the time.

  • this song is WAY more punk than grunge, don't you kids distinguish the difference?

  • @ScottieWallace what defines punk? bein different... this band were very punk.. the whole grunge scene was mostly lame ass nirvana influenced apathetic uselessness.. nirvana were punk rock.. if you disagree you dont understand punk

  • @greenday01989 agree..even and Kurt said a lot about punk and influence on him

  • pure creators of grunge. lovelovelove!!!!!!!!!!!!
