I am so impressed with the forward momentum on this bike. While I do not have hills in my area like in San Francisco, I can see how it is possible to climb those inclines with this bike. It is so easy to peddle. Great bike.
I just bought one in Portland. Believe it is a great bike. Old style Chromoly Steel frame. The Hayes mech disc brakes are awesome! Traded in the the fat/tall 65psi 29er tires for Schrader 100psi street tires. All a 29er is, really is a fat/tall 700cc tire on 700cc (622) rims. Other than that, street/road use doesn't really benefit from the 29er tire like offroad use does. I like the frame fit (6/1 and 250 pounds) My other mountain bikes looked rediculous sizewise
I just stole one of these, I love it

This bike is awesome. I have an 08'. I ride it every week on a trail next to my house.

Have you thought of trying out something like the Schwalbe Fat Frank or Big apple on a 29er bike?

I have Big Apples on my 29er Rig. LOVE them!
Not good for sand on tar or loose gravel, but riding on the street is amazing.
They also absorb very large objects like curbs and rocks.
I'll never run anything else.
