@kcorfield1 lessons with a school are definitely important for any beginner in the sport. Used alongside our DVD guides you can ensure you will learn faster and more safely too. Thanks for the good feedback :-)
I found that lessons really helped it gave me a complete understanding of the fundamentals and equipment and I learnt the safe ways to do things and saved myself a fortune on beginner equipment by asking around the school.
flyfalcon91 - If you have the board skills then you will find getting up on the board and progressing towards intermediate level will be much easier. Learning how to fly a kite however is just as important, particularly as a beginner as it can be fatal to put up a 10m kite and not know how to control it. As good as our DVD is we still recommend 1 or 2 days of lessons to learn those key kite skills, bringing you up to to the waterstart. Practising with power kites nearer home would also be good.
thecerry888 - Get out there and give it a go! Kitesurfing is not as hard as you think and is one of the most inspiring, rewarding and addictive action sports out there. And of course, with a little help from Progression, you will up and riding in no time....
I live right of the lake and i really want to do this i snowboard so this is something that interests me even more. Everywhere i read it says it is important to have an instructor and i agree things are much easier when someone is there to tell you stuff but the closest school i have for kitebording is 3 hours away. Will this DVD help me with the gear i need to buy and just getting into the water and doing this safely?
how funny is that bragging about 10 years kiting and still having to watch the beginners dvd only to moan about not learning anything about somthing youve not done on the water yet and saying i have the gear i just need to do it learn it do you think i still need lessons then criticising a very helpfull video because it explains how to do it safely haha must of been that 6 long years dare devil static flying haha
i have been kiting for 10 years now, and kite landboarding for 4 years. i have watched the progressin kiteboarding for beginners dvd, and have learned nothing at all, all stuff i know. i have the gear already, just need to go do it. learn it.
and dont start about safety.. im not a beginner, i know the dangers.
you still think i need lessons to start kiteboarding?.
@pyckMeister Sorry you've not found the Beginner DVD useful, but it sounds like you have a lot of experience anyway. Sounds like you'll be picking up kitesurfing very quickly. This DVD is aim more at people who are new kiting, only have limited experience or have been struggling to move passed the initial stages.
You're best bet would be to speak to an instructor & they be able to tell you if a lesson or 2 would help - might just get you up on the board that bit quicker, then you'll be flying!
