@novachevyguy It's just a fresh 98 install plus cpuidle ( i pulled out most of the fans, so I'm worried about overheating), and acdsee. I could uninstall some of the default windows apps I guess, but I don't think it'll make much difference.
If your laptop has a wireless network card, you can run a program called Synergy on startup and share the keyboard and mouse of any computer with your frame. Doesn't help with the bios, but if you ever needed it after boot, it would be there.
@jorgespina That's a good idea - I hadn't thought of that. One hesitation is that it takes FOREVER to start the slideshow, since I have tons of pictures on it, and it's a slow laptop. Sometimes I just want to start it up, and move some pictures onto it from the USB stick.
@jeremoviesinc There's not much to it, really. It's fairly ghetto. The hardest part was taking apart the laptop and figuring out exactly how much I could strip out and still have a functional machine. Then you find a big enough frame, and find a way to fit it in.
why so much crap running in and stuff on desktop if it's a picture frame?

@cyborggold uh synergy dosen't work in win 98
novachevyguy 11 months ago
@novachevyguy I only mentioned it because with a simple OS upgrade or for other people doing a similar project... it would help.

OH but besides that, great little project man

In theory.

In theory, you may want to not say in theory so much. In theory, it might be becoming a verbal crutch, like "uh" or "um."

You don't even need a mouse! you can put a shortcut to the application in the Start->Programs->Startup and that's it...it'll start up automatically
