I remember before people accepted cyanide. God, having the lyrics "steal her eye" followed by "sun-eyed" would have been .. just weak. (it also wouldn't make sense to the rest of the lyrics). Plus it's Beck so he's most likely saying it like that purposely, it's even written "my......girl" on his official website. Say cyanide really fast repeatedly, you'll start to lose that middle syllable.
