I grew up in the late 1960's and back then WW II was still fresh in many peoples minds, still many veterans around. Many of the toys were about guns and war also TV shows like "Combat", "Rat Patrol", "Baa Baa Black Sheep" "Hogans Hero's" and many others. That's about all we did as kids was play "army" or "cops". 6 channels of black and white TV, no video games or internet. My dad took me shooting real guns every Saturday, .22 caliber shells were 25 cents a box. He always bought 2 boxes.
