I had one of these when I was about 7. It was great for maybe a week or two. One thing they don't call it in the commercial is "durable." I went back to my indestructible wooden machine gun after I busted this one.
My sister is a hippie who used to argue against guns for boys, but when she had two, home-schooled, never saw a TV and only socialised with other hippie kids, at age two, they started making spears, swords and guns with sticks! Boys honestly will be boys...I want to get them the Johnny Seven gun and watch them go nuts! :)
i had one of these - it was crap, everything jammed after a few days. just like a real gun, eh? still had fun with it though, when i could find all the bits
Man . . The Hitler-youth movment would have loved to see their little Aryan white boys playing with a one man army gun like us Americans kids had, no-wonder they lost the war . . . and we got Johnny 7 . .
@TeddyPickerxD It is a toy; and there were times at which people understood that.
When I was young, my friends and I would play "army", but we knew how terrible real war was. We understood the difference. Nowadays, people do not, and everything has to be "politically corrected".
I grew up in the late 1960's and back then WW II was still fresh in many peoples minds, still many veterans around. Many of the toys were about guns and war also TV shows like "Combat", "Rat Patrol", "Baa Baa Black Sheep" "Hogans Hero's" and many others. That's about all we did as kids was play "army" or "cops". 6 channels of black and white TV, no video games or internet. My dad took me shooting real guns every Saturday, .22 caliber shells were 25 cents a box. He always bought 2 boxes.
@bominh88881 Omg? Why omg!? It's a gun which is so powerful, it makes the user a one man army. What's with ONE MAN ARMY!? Why did you say omg!? It's a toy...
@Marcohazard asked "is it possible to remake it as an actual firearm with nowaday's technology? That would be great for military usuage!"
.
I think there's a tv show about a shop that makes custom weaponry. I'm sure they could put something like this together! Does anyone else reading these comments know what show that is?
I remember wanting this for Christmas as a kid and the Remco Bazooka. I got just the Remco Bazooka.
Hey it was a different time period. No war mongering about it, and I was 8 years old in 1961. On the other hand; Could they have been setting us up for Nam? Hmmm!
To bad Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't have gotten one of these in Austria as a kid.
i loved to play army as a kid. my friend jimmy had one of these. we were so jealous, also, what in gods name is a "noob tube"? this is my sons account and i am pretty old to know half of this stuff
What a great toy. I got one of these for Christmas when I was 7 or 8 but I could barely carry the thing. Usually I was tommy gunned down with imaginary bullets before I could fire the plastic ones.
@SetiFur do u mean that the elimination of this manly toy is a reason to love the feminist movement or that the feminist movement is a reason to love this manly toy? im all for peace but seriously our future looks grim if men continue to be emasculated
@CoDaC35 I'm saying that if it did indeed get rid of violence encouraging toys like this then it's another reason to support it. And could you say why our future looks grim?
Facebook is more likely to encourage and/or lead to actual violence and conflict than these toys. And feel free to read CaDaC's comment in its entirety: -"...our future looks grim if men continue to be emasculated ".
@SetiFur Well from the start... I hope that i am not being misconstrued as being misogynistic and chauvinistic. my opinion on this issue is complex.->(feminism and its effect on modern day male existence) but the point that i was trying to state earlier was that in humanity's darkest and perverse form, males need violence. they thrive upon it. it encourages, stimulates, and challenges males (not speaking for females) to survive and be productive.
@CoDaC35, don't be bashful. Don't allow yourself to be cowed. The truth is that feminism is an evil force, and we shouldn't hesitate to say so. And there's nothing wrong with being chauvinistic (by the way, real women like it, anyway. That's a little secret most guys don't know).
i feel that the feminist movement however with its once good intentions is now merely seeking ways to make men more unassertive un-aggressive which is a dangerous road to take considering the harsh world we live in today but ill stop there because this is a toy and now im feeling childish for even starting an intellectual debate over something so trivial but i respect your stance on the situation and if u wish to defend ur argument or seek the clarity of mine then im all ears
My parents got me a Johnny seven OMA for christmas when I was 7 ir 8 yo and it wasthe biggest gun a kid could ever have and alot of fun. I still have it. Its worn now and most of the ammo is MIA but it really did make you feel like a one man army.
Impressive weapon...but it was really a bit of overkill for us seven and eight year old grunts on the front lines. Most of us preferred a simple but effective Mattel tommy-gun! ;)
