  • hey this verion looks good! imma try it! ...i swear southeast asian food is the best lao, cambodia, and thai btw we lao people use Padack instead of seasoning what yas call bahock! :)

  • @MDiddi1987 Oh wow! that is interesting. What is Padack and do they sell that at the store? Is it made with similar ingredients such as our prahok?

  • @MDiddi1987 and forget3tm3not770 - FYI, Badak and Pahok is one and the same. Came here searching for a beef plea/laab recipe.

  • @MDiddi1987 Pahok and badak are the same thing.

  • It's really hard showing detailed process through pictures. This was back in the days when I didn't have enough memory for my camera yet. Yes, you add all of those pounding ingredients into the laab.

  • In thai version is Palmy

  • Hello bong! Thank you so much for putting up videos on how to cook Cambodian food. I'm glad you did this because I don't know how to cook. I am a Cambodian girl and I would like to cook for my fiance who is an Indian. I am really regretting that I didn't listen to my mom when she asked me to learn to cook with her, but didn't because I was very immature and lazy. Anyhow, I was wondering, if you know how to make beef stick? It's the one where you marinated with lemongrass, galangal, garlic, etc.

  • Hi lzjourney! How r u? Thank you very much for watching my videos. I'm glad you were able to learn from this. Yes, I know how to make beef sticks. You got the marinade right on the dot. It's basically the lemongrass paste (lemon grass, lime leaves, galangal, garlic, dry red peppers, turmeric powder, rhizome), salt, sugar, fish sauce.

  • i was wondering if you could tell me how to make the beef plea?

  • Hi angeluvspisey! It's exactly the same as this recipe, but instead of using the larb mix, just make sure you use prahok, chilis, garlic, salt, sugar, lemon grass, galangal, lime leaves, bell peppers, shallots, basil leaves, and whatever vegetables you want.

  • ..cont'd...One key tip to making beef sticks, you can use lean meat...it has to has fat in it for it to be good and cover it with a lot of vegetable oil when grilling it.

  • Oh i love laab, one of my favorite khmer dish, plea sach koh kar ch'ganh nas dial, personally i prefer plea sach koh,my pals they love beef also, chandary she also make Bowb slab marn, chicken wing stuffing,it's absolutely delicious, great dish for drinking with friends.

  • I like it with beef too and will make plea siche kho for my cousin's baby shower next mth.

  • Us boys we prefer laab with beef, believe me you can't go wrong ;)

  • thanks for the cooking tutorials. btw, do you know how to make plea sache gor? i think we add lemongrass to it.

another favourite dish of mine is the stuff chicken wings (mon bowk).....do you have the recipe for that?

  • Thank you very much mooshoorooshoo! Yes, I know to make plea siche kho. It has very similiar ingredients as my chicken larb tutorial. As for the stuff chicken wings, I debone the wings, chop up the meat, and mix it with vermicelli, salt, sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, black pepper. You can either deep fry it or grill it.

  • looks good!!=) i luv all ur cookin tutorial...oh i have one question do u how to make somlor goo?

  • Thanks paowne srey! Did you meant somlor kho kho? If so, yes I know how and will make a tutorial for it in the future.

  • I don't understand how this can be fake if it's food, goes into your stomach the same way, and digest the same way? You, my dear, probably needs to rephrase your sentence.

  • i mean its made the wrong way

  • Well, in that case, how about you make a video on how to make this. I would love to see your way. Afterall, I believe that everybody has their own creative ways of making dishes such as this. Just like makeup, there are no right or wrong way. People have their own preference.

  • when you use the beef tripe, do you just boil it with water or you add something else? (and how long do you boil it?)

P.S. luv your recipe videos :)

  • Thanks chapis87! You just boil it with water for 15 mins and you're done.

  • hey!! this is a thai song

    by thai artist ......... palmy

    ฮ่วย เพลงของคนไทย

  • Cool! Do you have the link for the video? I want to see how it sounds in Thai.

  • wow..

    thanks!

    i'm gonna make it tonight!

    (;

  • You're welcome and thanks for watching cwannary1! Please tell me how it goes.

  • Thanks bong for sharing your delicious recipes. I'm going to create a playlist for all the cooking tutorials on my channel.

  • You're welcome maraphang! I hope to post up more soon.

  • it looks delicious! it makes me miss my family's home cooking, especially now that i'm away from home. i'm going to try making this dish...:)

btw, i love the song...what is the title and who sings it?

  • Thanks ThaiLakornFanatic! Tell me how it goes when you try cooking this. I'm sorry, but I'm clueless to who the singer and song title is b/c I got the Khmer songs from my younger sister.

  • I made your plea the other day and it was the bomb diggity!!!

  • I'm so glad to hear that jEnNypHiM85! It's comments like these that I look forward to hearing...*^_^*

  • this song has different meaning in thai version =]

btw i likt in khmer version

  • I have a bad habit of not paying attention to the lyrics and only the melody...when people ask me what it means, I can't really explain...LOL! Thanks for watching sardnhi!

  • Other than the food I want this song hehe.

  • All my khmer songs were extracted from my sister's cds...*^_^*

  • oh um are all the songs from the same CD? If you have AOL IM you could probably send me the songs :D

  • Nope, they're all from various CDs and yes, I have AIM and Yahoo Msger...what's your sn?

  • I heard Thai Chef said Labb doesn't need to add sugar cuz sugar can mess up this food...but I see you put sugar into it...how it tastes with sugar??? i always cook labb but never put sugar..and I don't use raw chilli but da burned one...

  • It tasted good to me. When it comes to food, it depends on everybody's preferences...there's no rules to cooking. You just have to experiment, add or eliminate ingredients to your taste. That's what I always tell my students.

  • reasonable...let me try next time...thanks for responding

  • You're welcome and have a wonderful day.

  • horrible singing

  • Sorry you feel that way b/c I loooovvveee it!

  • But man your cooking sure is great. And the way to a man's heart is through his stomach! Well mine anyways...

  • Thank you and btw, though that's me cooking, it's not me singing...Have a Happy Vday.

  • I figure that wasn't your singing or else that would be a talent and a half.

  • If I knew how to sing, I'd be in American Idol right now.

  • yummy!my mom made me some the other day. with prahok. I LOVE PRAHOK! haha(:

  • LOL! I always add prahok in my plea as well and with most other food...love them stinky stuff...*^_^*

  • yo wat da song called

  • I'm sorry, but no, I do not know what this song is called...I got it from my little sister's CD.

  • i just wanted to thank you so much for this i made this 5 days in a row and never get sick n tired of it..my boyfriend love it. thank you bong srey..please post more foods that you know..

  • Nope...the tripe is option and to your taste.

  • awhkhun bong srey

  • Hello Bong Srey,

Thk u very much for sharing. I like to eat Laab and I didnt know how to cook it. I would like to learn from you.

    Tks again !

    Kitten,

    Germany

  • Soursday paowne srey kitten! I'm glad you came across my video then...btw, you can use whatever meat you want whether it's chicken, beef, shrimp, etc. for Laab...thanks for watching!

  • hey wat song is this its preety nice =]

  • Sorry, don't know the title of this song but it's one of my mom's favorite...*^_^*

  • well its not cambodian food but the song is cambodian lol

  • LOL! Thanks Amanda95401! Some people takes things too literally...

  • Chicken Laap? This is the first I've heard of Plea Saj Moan. Are you sure this is cambodian food?

  • Nope, it's not a Cambodian food but then again, you can use any type of meat for plea whether chicken, seafood, beef, etc...it depends on your taste buds. Cooking is about being creative, not rules and regulations.

  • Hi,

Your ingredient did not include beef tripe at all!!!

I learned from your video; Please put out more Khmer recipes...Thanks.

    Sam

  • Hi Sam! Thanks and yes, it does has beef tripe. Look at 1:35 of the video.

  • Yes, the video showed beef tripe. But in the ingredient page, it does NOT. I printed out the ingredient page, went out to the market and bout all those ingredients. And when I follow the video, and that when I discovered that you missed out the beef tripe. Oh well, it is not the bif deal!!! Just like you said, we can put whatever we liketo our taste.

  • Ooops sorry! But it is there now and the beef tripe wasn't necessary for the dish...I'm sure yours turned out great!

  • I like you. But I like the food more lol...just kidding...I love Labb so much...my heaven food...But I prefer the pork lab mixed with livers...oh yummy!!! spicy and hell good!!

  • LOL! You're so silly! Thank you...I've never tried pork larb before...only beef (plea siche goe) or chicken, but yes, livers in it is also good.

  • It's not just about cooking you know,it's family time, get together cook and eat together, you learn along the way,i think it's a beautiful thing to do,it's one way of keeping family bond together, get everybody involved in family ativities, not just family, khmer community as a whole,i think you make a great role model for younger Cambodian teen ;),i wish they are all like you,a role model is like a map book,it lead one into the right path of living ;),you are a domestic diva !!

  • Aww...thank you very much Bong Pras. I try b/c I have a lot of families around me and out of all my siblings and cousins, I'm the oldest. So yes, I have a lot of pressure to be a good role model for them. Now if only some of them aren't stubborn to learn Khmer. I blame it on the parents though for not instilling the culture more into them. Afterall, being bilingual is an advantage.

  • Forgetmenot770,you should have a class teaching younger Cambodian gal how to cook Khmerfood, you know the younger generation around 13-14 years old and up ;),home-economic you know,my niece could use a lesson in khmer cooking,i want her to follow a healthy balance diet of meat and veggies, not so much fast food.I think Cambodian cuisine are very healthy diet.

  • Thanks! Yes, they're very hlthy b/c it's mainly consisted of soups, fish, and veggies. These days, hardly any of the younger generation cousins want to learn from me though.

  • We are so very excited to being finally going to Cambodia! We will toastyou and yourfamily for sure!

  • Please do and don't forget...don't drink anything with ice over there (especially if you hadn't taken any vaccination shots prior to your trip)..oh yes, never eat vegetables that aren't cooked there b/c it will give you stomach problems (if you know what I mean *WINK*)

  • what song is this;; i heard it before on a dvd but whats it call??

  • Sorry, but I don't know b/c I stole it from my sister's CD, but it is pretty popular back in Srok Khmer when I visited last summer.

  • i love Plea Siche koh... or jung thea.. its all good... what song is that.. sound nice...

  • Thanks ahpaht! It would be even better with prahok. *^_^* I'm not sure of the title and artist of this song b/c I got it from my sister's CD, but I did heard it often at Srok Khmer when I visited summer '06.

  • uuuuummmm ummmmm knanh mane !! kirnh jong te japp prawless !! i meant the chicken legs okay ? hahahaaaa..

  • You are so silly! Almost gave me a heart attack a moment ago...I'm sure my husband doesn't want to hear that...LOL!

  • Cleanliness is key !! moun nung chap pderm, yirng trov leang som-aaaht jronh, leang tbahl bok oy s'aaaht !! ruoich hery soam yirng japp pderm, haahn bonlae haahn sach,akna-mai la'or kom oy chlong roke !! liiir te kokmara kokmarey ? ;))

  • Yep! That's why I make sure that I'm always cooking next to the sink b/c I can't stand my hands getting dirty and always washing my hands w/in each step.

  • cambodia!

    yeah!!!!!!!!!!!

    im cambodian!

  • Glad that you found me then. *^_^*

  • Excellent job. Great cooking demo with the authentic music too.

always looking forward to what you'll cook up next :0)

  • Aww...thanks! I thought I'd kick it up a notch with the authentic music...hehe!

  • We lave for Cambodia n Dec 8 ad I amso excited! I have been to Thailand 30 times and am quite good cookng Thai cuisine, now to learn some Kymer cooking!!!!

I see some dshes have commonalities to Thai and Laos but maybe mre sugar and less chile.

  • Dec. 8th is getting near! Yay! Are you getting nervous and excited at the same time?

  • thankz for ur uploads! i made this last night and it turned out perfectly! keep the khmer food coming! : )

  • You're welcome mizNary and I'm delighted to hear that my tutorial was easy to follow. Did you add any prahok in yours? *^_^*

  • yes i did! i had to make half without prahok for my bro in law since he hates thou! ohh one more thing.. ive seen some ppl make labb/plea with i think either pork or beef kreung knong?? (the stomach part i think?) i remember eating it at a party and it was pretty good.

  • Yep...Khmer people use that krueng knong too, but since I'm not too fond of it, I substitute it with tripe instead...but if you know how to make it good like Laos people, kreung knong can add a good taste.

  • Can you tell me who sings this song, khmer and thai? Thanks

  • Hi danibmn! It's Khmer.

  • I've never seen this, so complicated. is it really that good?

  • It's not complicated if you have all your ingredients. As for the goodness factor, it all depends on your taste. Some people like sourness and some ppl can't stand it. So for me, it's great!

  • I miss Cambodian foodsss, please make me some!

  • LOL! Sorry...in the meantime, I can make videos for ya...*^_^* Enjoy!

  • Looks Ooo-so yummy. You've got really catch music too. I hope you'll be making more videos of your recipies. I'm eager to make me some of that chicken laab. How long do you boil the beef tripe?

  • Thanks tonyandlyn! The beef tripe is actually very quick to make....just around 15 mins or so (starting from the time it started boiling).

  • yummmm...........
