  • They look like animatronics

  • i think thats because you cant ornament the notes the same with keyed flutes irish music is heavily influenced by piping ornamentations like the use of crans and rolls i myself use piping ornamentation on my whistle both soprano and alto but i also use my tougue too which you cant use on the pipes, i gues its about limitations and making the most of what you got, i say go ahead and try it oboe is a beautiful instrument and a reed instrument like the pipes

  • my my my..... such strong positions! bravo for the argument fellers. It was far more entertaining than the video..... don't get me wrong, the video was spectacular. However, it pailed in comparison to the bullshit argument you two had.............. IDIOTS

  • hmm why do irish music players never smile?

  • @TheCherokeeboy because they have to play with accordians

  • i really hate accordian it just spoils irish music and i wish irish trad players would please stop using the guitar it really dont work

  • @omarshinken you don't have a clue what you're on about, this guy on guitar is one of the best around

  • @DJFozter i have been playing irish trad music since a child i play pipes, whistles ,flute ,bodhran and mandolin and my musical family are from clare so i think i do have a clue and i have heard and played with much better guitar players than this guy but i am not critical of his ability i just dont like guitar in trad music

  • @omarshinken are you going to explain why you don't like the guitar in trad music??

and lol you've been playing trad as a child yet thinks the button box spoils the music too? somehow i don't think many people are going to take you seriously mate

  • @DJFozter i really dont care who takes me seriously and your not my mate as to the guitar its just personal taste i dont care for it or the accordian. so do me a favour and go fuck your mother lol

  • @omarshinken why don't you do me a favour mate and stop being the jack of all trades and concentrate on one instrument? then you might actually be able to hold your own with superb muscians like these 3. ok mate? i don't fuck my mother, only inbreds like you indulge in such activities

    and cut your hair too

  • @omarshinken There was some reaction against guitars in trad back in the early revival days ....also accordions were a bit suspect to some ..bodhrans were much rarer ...pipes, fiddles and flutes(simple system) were seen as more ' authentic'.

In this regard have a look at the collection of players at the front of O'Neills collection.

  • @Lisnageeragh its just a personal taste thing for me i prefer the mandolin and banjo i also love the irish bouzouki which is a new comer to irish music. as for whats authentic irish trad i dont think there is such a thing as its always evolving there maybe a consistency with certain instruments but new ones have got involed and other fallen into less use. like the war pipes

  • @omarshinken Would agree , if it works ...give it a go...my own excursion was going to be oboe , but I was advised not to for lip formation reasons. I am , however very aware of objections to keyed flutes.

  • @Lisnageeragh also remember there was a clasical irish music back in the day of o'carolan and he would have aranged irish tunes for classical baroque instruments as well as harp again this shows another phase in the evolution of trad music. so again i say try it with your oboe and experiment

  • @omarshinken So no accordion and no guitar. Nice. Let's call in the New York Philharmonic.

  • @darkoanton5 very funny i will remember that next time i climb off your mother

  • @omarshinken I know it's your dream to to be with a senior citizen. It must be difficult for a dickhead like you to get anybody under 65.

  • Geile Musik!

  • I think i was in a session with the accordion player a few weeks ago!

  • Pure magic for the soul

  • Great stuff! My only critique is that there needs to be a little better balance in volume between the accordion and Irish flute, the flute needs to a little louder. I know there's only so much you can do though when you're entirely acoustic. Great stuff and keep up the amazing music!

  • good stuff lads ,,cheers

  • jesus, john your very serious when you announce the tunes
