  • fucking awesome book

  • I so much want this book turned in a movie.

  • @charlesbrownish You and almost everyone who likes this book, I dare say.

(And I'd like Harrison Ford to play Wireman XD)

  • I like how the first page starts. " Life is more than love and pleasure, I came here to dig for treasure. If you want to play you gotta pay You know it's always been that way, We all came to dig for treasure" Shark Puppy

  • There is a strange book you just got to read call Benjamin's Gate by Warren Reed

  • I lived through the Apocalypse, I seen the Antichrist, and beheld his miracles, I seen the world take his mark and thousand killed because they refuse to take it, I was there when he came out of the pit and killed the two Prophets, for they had even tried to kill us, (me and my friends) but we were able to survive. My is Benjamin and this is my story. order the book Benjamin's Gate at amazon.com

  • nice trailer. i wonder what kind of software he used to make this trailer. awesome

  • do u think he is going 2 make a movie 4 duma key in 2012?

  • What? A book with a trailer? haha that's awesome. Stephen king is a great writer. Duma key is the first Kinkg's book i've read, and its awesome.

  • great book

  • AWESOME!!!

  • I souns so good, but it's first person perspective. I don't do first person.

  • damn good book. I highly recommend this for a good read.

  • Mr. King is the KING of EIDETIC Memory LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and it was RED

  • I finished it 2 weeks ago and it was completely brilliant.

  • I was listenning to Eagles-Hotel californi when I was reading. That song fits perfect to the book.

  • It was the best Stephen King book I've read in a long time. And I've been reading Stephen King books since I was six. I'm fourteen now. So almost eight years.

  • @MultiTylerjay Holy sheet, I had no idea this even was released. His books have been disappointing since Rose Madder & I can't WAIT to order this on Amazon!

  • This is a fantastic book! I loved it from beginning to end. One of the best of his works in the last few years.

  • I'VE BOUGHT IT NOW IM WAITING FOR IT TO BE POSTED INTO ME..IM JIST WONDERING IF ITS GOOD AND SCARYY?? WHAT ARE YOUR THOGUHTS ON THIS NOVEL? :)

  • 9 people need to visit duma key this summer....

  • This is one of my favorite books. Does anyone know if they'll make a movie version of it?

  • the cell was amazing. my favorite of all stephen king

  • One of his best (in the last decade) Under the Dome rocks too.

  • If they made a movie out out of this I think that robert downey Jnr would make a great edgar

  • Duma Key is great!! I have read it at least 6 times and never get tired of it. Definitely worth buying. On the other hand, I never thought I would ever say this about any King book but The Cell sucked. :)

  • @SusDgs Cell was a masterpiece compared to Lisey's Story --it pains me to admit it. Sorry, Uncle Steve ;(

  • BOOKGASISM

  • is this a new one

  • @boogiejazz11 Duma Key came out in 2008. One of King's best books in the past few years. I recommend you to read it. It's a great book:)

  • What's so great about this book is King's beautiful prose and how he made Edgar and the other characters so real and lovable. Epic book!

  • next to the shining, this is his best book ever. I was not hooked. more absorbed by it. spectacular. :)

  • the characters were great.. the rest sucked as usual for recent king along with the ending

  • @jimmynorton1001 The majority of Kings novels end poorly. The Stand, which is still a masterpiece, had an incredibly weak ending. As with all of Kings stories, it's the journey thats the reward rather than the conclusion.

  • @txmoney Yea great point you have there. That whole thing with the flashlight containing the spirit blaa blaa was ridiculas. Great character develpment with the one armed man painter (forget his name) and his friend which I forget his nick name. Just great story telling until that horrible ending. Being as good as he is I can't believe he can't find a decent ending.. And the bush bashing needs to stop.. Not that I'm a fan of Bush but it's a cheap way to call someone out.. we get it ur a lib

  • I thought this was a movie trailer I was like "Holy crap they already have a movie out for it...oh" haha

  • it's Desperation set in Fla and i HATE it. For the first time ever i can't find a single character to enjoy in king book. I would personally love to lop off Freemantle other arm and see how long he treads water in front of his house. If i had been pam i would have divorced him 15 years earlier. One more mention of 'ripe teenager' and i'll be sick. (btw - i liked Desperation and every other SK i ever read)

  • a book trailer..? seriously?

  • This trailer makes a creepy scary horror out of this. If you look at it right, it's a book about art. A book about becoming an artist, and not realizing it until everyone says so. But as a horror novelist, he kind of had to put in this ending and this mysterious edge to it, but it can be left off, the main part is about painting. This just may be the best book I've ever read.

  • whats the book about

  • @carlosperezvidal encountering and then overcoming evil through sacrifice & love. like many of the others. This one is told in first person, which is part of what i cant stand about it.

  • I'm gonna finish reading Blaze then I'm gonna read this.

  • Just finished the book. It was pretty good and it had a good ending.

  • '' A good place to rest...In peace.

  • Looks better than my book trailers.

  • If this were made into a movie, I think Jeff Bridges would make a fantastic Wireman.

  • Im on page 400 and something. It's good, but not awesome. An easy read though. This is my first Stephen King Book. Maybe i'll try another one after.

  • I love that book...I'm only 12 and I read the whole thing back to front xD Best book ever, there better be a movie fer it OR ELSE

  • haha wiremans spanish is the best

    "cojudo de puta madres"

    Wireman rules ! ! !

  • Stephen King is the only man who can make a Trailer for a book look menacing...

  • Książka świetna, polecam :)

  • @agniecha2 popieram perełka

  • well I'm about halfway through and this trailer isn't very representative of the book at this point, but besides that the book is really a very good read.

  • Geiles Buch !!!

  • just started reading it last night, what a book!! Stephen King is imo the best writer of all time!

  • @Flaggius Stephen King has a great imagination. But he is hardly the best writer of all time. You need to read more writers. Ever heard of Ambrose Bierce, Clark Ashton Smith, Algernon Blackwood, H.P. Lovecraft. They make Mr. King look like a child. As I said his imagination is great, which is why I read him, but his writing is simple and not very good. He can also learn to stay on topic in his work and not trail off. If he did that maybe his books wouldn't be so long.

  • @thechaz83 Stephen King is one of the BEST writers period. Of course it is almost impossible for someone to be the BEST writer among such large number of authors around. Secondly, H.P. Lovecraft's prose is terrible when compared to that of King, dull, wooden and convoluted but he puts his fear into words so intense that you believe in him. How many times do we have to read "that inexplicable great thing beyond skies?" What's that inexplicable thing? Lovecraft never explains,

  • @thechaz83 I don't know Ashton Smith, but there are many small things that put King above the others. King is one of the very natural dialogue writers, which is in fact a very difficult thing. Take your authors and all of them put minimal dialogue in their writings, and in case of Lovecraft, sometimes there is no dilaogue, which is an easy escape. King's mastership on daily vernacular makes his characters much more round and easy to relate and that is a very hard thing to do (Dean Koontz anyone)

  • @thechaz83 Another great strength in King's writing is his ability to adjust a pacing of a story. He is very talented here and is better than all of these names. Just try to write a 100 page novella, let alone a novel, and you will see what I mean. King effectively manipulates the reader to give the right reaction at the right time and that's why after 50 odd books his 1100 plus page Under the Dome still sells in buckets.

  • @Actuallysalemslot Under The Dome was perfectly paced and very well thought out. I think Under The Dome was probably his best novel.

  • @thechaz83 Neither of your authors has that talent about pacing and that's probably because they are more famous in short stories, I don't remember any Lovecraft or Biercebook, or if there is any ever, they are probably longforgotten items. King, on the other hand, can produce any format: short story, novella, long story, novel, uber novel, pastiche etc etc thanks to his outstanding pacing abilities.

  • @Actuallysalemslot I meant Lovecraft or Bierce novel...

  • @thechaz83 Where Lovecraft matches King is his great imagination and sense of venue, two areas where King also shines. Both authors have a very keen sense of place so you almost know the dark villages at the top of mountaints (in Lovecraft) or a small town inhabited by otherworldy creatures (in King's fiction) Both have immense imagination; here Lovecraft's talent lies in hallucinations, King's talent lies to take a cliche, give it a crooked twist and still manage to come up with something new.

  • @thechaz83 and finally all of those authors' best fiction have been filtered through time and we are treated with the best of the bunch, others eliminated in the course of time. King is just very fresh now and all his outstanding stories, so so stories and bad stories go hand in hand so it is very easy to say oh King is not good look at Lisey's story etc. But do you know how much crap has Lovecraft or Bierce published in their time?

  • @thechaz8 King's prose is deceptively simple, he intends to create where you can connect with characters and events, fall in the story. This is immediately necessary in this age of electricity, Internet, TV, where old cliches of creaking doors or screams from the darkness beyond are rendered useless. But underlying this deceptive image is actually a very complicate texture which is shadowed by the outstanding pace of stories. Read Misery and Hearts in Atlantis to see how great a novelist he is

  • @thechaz83 So considering all these things, Stephen King is one of the best and greatest American fiction authors and is certainly better than the names in your list.

  • @Flaggius Secondly, I find Mr. King quit full of himself writing a book and telling others how to write when there are numerous styles and methods and ways of telling a story. The man has interesting stuff but the only thing hes achieved is figuring out the code to break into shallow publishing houses who only care about money and pushes 'real artists' to the side. That is the problem with the industry today. But I loved King's Pet Semetery, The Shining, It, The Langoliers etc.

  • @Flaggius King is still cool don't get me wrong. I enjoy reading him and wasn't attacking you flaggius. If you thought I was I apologize for my rudeness and wish you all the best :). I'm an aspiring writer and King just angers me because its people like him who encourage conformity and suggest that their is only one proper way to write, then knock all the new artists to the side. The industry is full of Stephen Kings who take joy in playing gate keeper.

  • @Flaggius read his book about writing and you will see what I'm talking about. He tells you a rule and then goes ahead and breaks it in his own writing. I have no respect for a man like that and any true 'artist' shouldn't either. Have a happy new year my friend. Just food for thought is all.

  • @thechaz83 You must learn and master a rule before you can bend/break it. I'm sure Stephen King has a pretty good idea what he's doing so I think we should just leave him to it.

  • @Drakose123 sorry to disagree with you but rules are not meant to be bent or broken. That is the problem with today's society, especially the publishing industry. Recently I met a person who had just finished Pet Semetery? He said he was put off and annoyed by how King mentioned the brand of Cigarettes Jud put into his mouth. King named the brand of Cigarettes. Thats breaking the novice rule. Why is it important that the reader know what type of Cigs Jud put into his mouth. See my point.

  • @Drakose123I hope you don't think I'm mad or attacking you. Each individual has a right to his or her own opinion. I'm just stating mine. I'm old school and traditional. But I still agree with many people here. Stephen King has an excellent imagination and is why his books sell. My favorites were It and Pet Semetery. I must get around to reading The Shining and Cujo. Even though we may not see eye to eye I wish you a good day my friend.

  • One of the best. Love Stephen! My fave. books are Cat's Eye and Blaze

  • that's a GREAT BOOK, i thought IT was it, it ain't , this is one of the Best, i think I read almost ALL of his brilliant work, but Duma Key is a Master Piece ^-^

  • one of his best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • An amazing book :)

  • This book is fantastic.

  • Stephen King is really the Master of Horror.

  • yes he is, i've read so many of his books!!

  • Stephen king makes like the best Horror books HAHA! great Trailer! 5/5!

  • After his recent release Under the Dome, just announced "Full Dark, No Stars" an upcoming collection of four novellas November 2010, woot.

  • Best book I've ever read

  • Stephen king making a new book called American vampire.

  • were can i get stephen kings book z?

  • Lovely! just read it

  • I'm reading it.

    It's great.

  • I'm reading this book and I just loove it! Stephen King is greeeat !!

  • finished it like an hour ago and i love it<3

  • its so sad...

  • Stephan King has an excellent imagination but his writing style is open for criticism. He writes and tends to go off on tangents; thus leaving the reader to say, "Dam, just get to the point". He breaks his own rules. Leaving all this aside Mr. King has a tremendous imagination and it surely entertains me and many other people. My favorites are Pet Semetary and IT.

  • nice trailer

  • i borrowed this from my library about two months ago and loved it, now this is on my christmas list because I love it so much, and I can read it in my own time when i have my own copy

  • Excelente video, me gustó muchísimo, lo acabé de leer hace unos días y me encantó, los personajes fueron muy entrañables, la historia es muy buena. Tiene un final justo.

  • Great Book

  • W Polsce należy szukać książki pod tytułem "Ręka Mistrza". Swoją drogą - polecam :)

  • Liked the book, but not the end... seemed pretty lacklustre. But I thought the first 85% or so was really good, interesting characters with a bit of depth.

  • i loved this book and I hope there is never a movie because the mnovie could never live up to the amazing book but... a movie about Libbit's life dosn't seem that bad

  • this book is amazing, i love it i only finished it recently and it definetly left me wanting more.

  • Wonderful book that prooves art can be painful lol. I was left wanting more. It was old school King at top notch.

    Best Wishes,

    Alexander S. Brown

  • He should make a sequel and add more characters. I want more too!!!

  • :) the main points:

There is an unexplained evil thing

A couple or group of people are 'chosen' (by author or whomever) to subdue and get rid of this evil.

The evil is a force unknown of and does gross and odd things and comes in forms (rock figures, porcelain doll, paintings, animals)

The MAIN thing that is similar is the ending but I dont want to ruin the book for people so please PM me if you truly are interested and I can explain why I find the endings so very very alike :)

  • @youaredyu44 This is the main points of an epic struggle between the good and the bad and King has been doing this kind of epic battle since his first day. There are millions of books that display this epic struggle based on your main points

  • I got this last xmas... It was readable and interesting but it reminded me too much of Desperation, not in whole but extremely many MANY details about it. After I read it I got mad for thinking Stephen King a genious... I mean it's worth it to borrow it but I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it was so much like the wonderful Desperation... Just write to me if you don't understand why it is similar, I could write many small things that match in both storys..

  • @youaredyu44

How is it anything like Desperation?

  • @youaredyu44 It is nothing like Desparation....

  • Having produced several book trailers, I'm wondering why CBS is producing a vid for Duma Key ... do they own the publisher? Regardless, great use of motion graphics to represent the tone of the novel

  • I'm currently reading this book & really enjoying it. Have read most of Mr. King's works.

  • I just finish it... Great book, love it.

  • I think most, if not all of King's books have a little slower starts, but you've got to meet the characters and find out what they're all about before anything good happens to them. A lot of the time, the information you find out about the characters in his novels plays a huge part in understanding why what happenings to them is happening. It's kind of a punishment fits the crimes, or a character has their weakness used against them which makes them stronger in the end.

  • FANTASTIC BOOK!

  • I loved this book. Tho it was a little slow going in, it started getting good when Edgar moved to Duma Key. I love King's ghost stories.

  • I started reading it for a while but then I left it and read Bag of Bones... Although I can't judge it from the few chapters I read but it somehow has a boring start I hope it gets better after cause I really love all King's work specially Bag of Bones which I hate its ending

  • Duma Key returned my faith in King's writing after the likes of Cell.

  • I've read the book, and the first thing I wanted to to after the reading - is to say - somebody, make a movie of it!!! I just think it gonna be a great horror. The book is great. Love it.

  • i love stephen king but the last really good book he wrote was bag of bones, duma key was ok but it does take a while to get going, his earlier books were much better, salems lot and pet semetery are just 2 that come to mind

  • Salems lot and Pet semetery? Uh, what about Christine and It. Now those were masterpieces.

  • I agree that his books are slow to get started, but you're really going to compare Duma Key to Bag of Bones? Bag of Bones didn't get good till 20 pages till it was over.

  • gosh its sooo long i started year ogo and i am on page447....never ending story but curiosity keeps me STILL readin'

  • I've read a lot of stephen king books, but this was one of the weird ones where you can't recognize it as it being written byhim at allllll. he should write more coming of age stories

  • I read it a while ago, and I loved it :D It's hard to get into but once you get past the first few chapters it gets really interesting and creepy :P

    Stephen King rules xD

  • i'm on page 200...it rocks!

  • @sleeperthemadripper was the book any good? im kind of back and forth all the time with his books. Some were great and others were horrible. . . . .What do you think?

  • @kellina84 it is an excellent book... is not so scary, but is creepy and cool, muchacha. you have to read that!

  • @sleeperthemadripper ive read it twice.......wireman is a man of many words muchacho, all of them wise and called for.

  • i live in the area that this book was based on casey keye in florida near sarasota....yeah ie met stephen kings he goes to the Publix i work at

  • this bbok is well BORING!! how can anyone read the whole of it?

  • I read it all the way through. It was depressing though. It had some neat ideas but it doesn't hold a candle to his better books.

  • Yeah, i only read the first chapter and didn't even think it was stephen king it was that boring. My dad said it was depressing, and he didn't read much either!

  • Read it. Pretty creepy, and as all stephen king books... its fucking weird.

  • I have read it and I LOVED the book. Its funny, creepy and exciting at the same time.

  • i read dis before

  • Terrific trailer ...and terrific novel!

  • I read the book a while ago, and as with most of King's later works, it feels a lot like a bunch of the old stuff mixed up together. It's sad, because it makes you feel as if you've read the book before. I wouldn't recommend you not to read it, cos it is good, but it's not one of the books I'd recommend first if someone asked me. It kind of slips halfway through in my opinion.

But of course, he still rocks :)

  • just started this, halfway thru,it seems as good as any of kings recent work, but i really like the old stuff better

  • iv never heard of it...but this trailer is pretty awesome!

  • i just finished this... i love isle, and wireman.

  • AWESOME!

  • i read it. i loved it!

  • i hav the book but i never read it... i think i will

  • Don't know the book but the trailer makes me interested.

  • Duma Key is good but not as good as The Stand and The Dark Tower. Long Days and Pleasent nights

  • Agreed

  • pg.165 it's gunna take me all summer to read it! Well, it is only the equal of 3 and a half books so...

  • I preferred the book trailer for DROWNED SORROW by Vanessa Morgan. It got more atmosphere, a creepy atmosphere.

  • I think S.K. never gonna get again the heighs of stuff as The Stand, but doesn¨ matter. Each new book he writes is for me a fantastic trip and an avalache of shocking feelings, so....Hats off!!!!!

  • rofl anyone else reading Just after Sunset?

  • read it, im reading night shift just now, lol when me and my mates were in town they were all buying dvds they had already seen , i was buying steohen king books

  • King is the KING!

  • i just buyed this book 1 day ago and it is so interesting !!!! ITS ADDICTIVE !!!!

the main idea didnt happen yet i guess only on page 100 . but you just cant stop reading it . FOR NOW I RECOMEND IT

  • This book was excellent (could have been a lil less sad) but soo good. I see all these great books but what about, Insomnia? That was such a clever book.

  • lol, I asked my friend to read Carrie but I was unaware that her mother's name is Carrie =O

  • Yes! I 100% agree with you! This was my first novel from him. God, I got so into the story and characters, this was truly a book I was lost in.

  • I want to marry this man

  • so do i lol joking, im reading salems lot.........its just amazing.......

  • Ugh Salem's Lot I could not put DOWN at all!! Great book!!

  • I just started reading Salem's Lot today... I'm hoping i really get into it

  • LOL... Stephen King is a married man

  • thats' a little random./

  • OH

    MY

    GOD!

    I AM SOOOOO READING THIS!

  • Once you've started reading it you can't stop! The book is awesome!

  • I mean books of course...

  • Stephen King's ranking:

    1. IT

    2. Misery/Carrie

    3. Cujo

    Lukas(Poland)

  • Stephen King is just the best!

  • I have just finished reading the book and I totally loved it! I couldn't stop reading anymore and it was amazing how the atmosphere slowly changed to pure horror. And Wireman RULES!

    I just don't understand why they called the book "WAHN" (Insanity) in German... O_o What a random title, just to make it sound kinda evil ^^;

  • in polish the title is... "Ręka mistrza" :)

    now Im on 269 page..:)

  • The book's over 700 pages and I read it in a few days - you just have to keep turning those pages...

  • this book rules!! Read It!
