@codsamanta No it isn't crude. Corn only takes a bit of time to just soften and get hot. Corn doesn't have to be cooked but not many enjoy it that way. As someone who was raised right beside corn fields I can say 10 minutes is the norm. Perhaps a bit less or more but not much. An hour is way too long but I am not surprised as the most common mistake is cooking it too long. The flavour is cooked out and the corn is too soft. See comments below for more discussion. cheers! KtC
@kooktocook Well, everybody I know does the same as me. But I'm going to try it your way (I love to eat corn but I hate watching it boil it takes too long lol). Anyways, thank you very much for your advice. Take care and have a very nice day :)
Good reminder. I have a BAAAAAD habit of overcooking corn. Usually because I'll throw it in too soon and forget about it while I'm doing a half dozen other things. "Ah, it'll be okay"... and then the only taste it has left is the butter I put on it. LOL
@MrVlogMadness Both are quite good. Steaming takes a bit longer and you require a few extra cooking tools than just a pot of water. Off the cob, I would certainly use a veggie steamer to cook the niblets. cheers! KtC
@yoyomax12 Not sure why folks do that but yes, I have seen it. It is not so much to cook the corn but to soften it a bit and warm it up for the butter. Good point. cheers, KtC
@hypnotiqdom Hard to believe but some folks have internet but no corn. Also, some folks could use a lesson or two. I just wanted to shoot some food porn :)
All due respect, this is such the WRONG way to cook corn on the cob. Big pot, one inch of water, steamer basket on top, stack the corn bring to steam.. When you smell the corn it is done. Saves energy.. Good stuff does not boil out... and very hard to over cook.. Please try it...
I grew up on a corn farm and this is how I was taught to make it..
I understand and yes, steamed corn is great. I have enjoyed it many times. However, no error boiling it up as long as you do not over-cook. Ditto with the MV. I live around plenty of corn and I too, have enjoyed many methods. Work with what you have and prepare what you enjoy (and try all recommended methods).
@slqk2 Salting the water is not uncommon but I do not. I used salted butter instead of my usual non-salted. Some add sugar to the water also. But the corn should be naturally sweet itself. cheers! KtC
@kooktocook i know, i got a reply from someone on another site and he, she said it most appropriately, YUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!! i don't even think it takes that long for soup!!??
wow that looks really yummy :)

Melted butter! mmmmm
I think that people make the mistake of boiling the corn to death, when only a couple of minutes really does the trick.
