Mods are just modification of the game. It means you need the program for the maps, items, and characters to work.

Let's say you buy a computer game but you dont have a computer. That means you aren't able to play the game even though you have all the necessary stuff in the cd.

I honastly dont understand HL2 mods. There fucking epic, at like everything. (Most of em, lol). But I dont understand if you dont have the game. What makes it not work? When you DL arnt you DLing the nessecary maps, items, characters, etc..im just saying im confused..and I dont want to buy it off of Steam >:/
