I read the book and it was very graphic when it came to the abuse this girl endured. It was a little hard to read because it read how an illiterate person would write. As the book went on you could see how Precious progressed as a writer. I suggest reading the book before seeing the movie. It's definitely going to be a tear jerker, because the trailer is.
