Ken Curtis had a beautiful voice, and we were lucky to hear him with the Sons of the Pioneers. He sang, many times, as "Festus," in Gunsmoke, but this is possibly the only time he did not do it in character, and used his natural voice instead. i wonder if that was his choice, or the producer's or director's idea.

I can't believe he dropped the accent when he sang, like Jim Nabors or Craze Guggenheim.
