we are not allowed to use minnows out here for bait, im not used to that where im from we use small minnows for crappie too.. but brothas out here use those micro 1-inch crappie jigs 1/32 jig head tiped witha maggot..4lb test line 5'6" ultra light rod pencil wood bobber..we smash crappie,bluegill,trout and i landed a 4lb bass on it last spring.

i caught a 17 and 3 qaurter inch crappie at cedar creek lake in east texas,barely fit in the ice chest =]we use the gold crappie hook's with the line and loop already tied on,tie you two of those on, about a foot and a half apart,weight on the bottom,fish with a bobber,2 minnows,caught em two at a time like this,just raise your rod tip up and down slowly about a foot or two,drop it back where it was,repeat,pretty much jiggin,but whatever,good luck out there fellas.

you guys are onto something, those are big panfish. Blue crappie as a kid and a few pumpkin seed's but those are chow. I use glow in dark paint lures for trouties up here.
