Jeez, everyone needs to relax on the numerical semantics! They're great cars with robust bottom-ends, making it easy (and reasonably cheap) to add lots of power, however one defines that. A simple MP45 SC kit runs $2400, bolts on in a Saturday and, with a pulley upgrade, makes around 200+ hp. No small thing in a 2100-2250 pound car. Sure, you'll need to upgrade the clutch but that's pretty much it. Amazing little machines.
I'd like to know what all had been done to this to have it up to 300hp with an sc. i planned on doin a mp62 on mine, and i've seen a built motor with coldside mp62 pushin 340+ but nobody has done it near me so i need a mod list
@ErbiRacing i think this guy was not realy reving his motor that much plus its supercharger witch means no turbo lag so you get instant boost and a lot more low end so you dont have to rally abuse or redline the engine, so i think you have a 256 turbo miata,
@JgHaverty if you bould the mottor and s/c you can def get over 300 hp from a s/c i mean you can get like 240 just from building a naturally aspirated miata why not 300 from super charger
@mauiboypoi you can get around 300 whp from a ridiculous uber charged setup, however, from an MP65, no fucking way. Also, 240 from an N/A miata? that would be one mighty expensive engine. FWIW im talking about whp, not flywheel hp.

@mauiboypoi the highest out put miata that was supercharged came from an ubercharged miata that flyin miata built. 2.0 stroked motor, biggest s/c they could put on. They got like 320whp. I've been building miatas for years now. I talked no shit, you are the one crying like a baby about it.

@JgHaverty If you've been building Miatas for years you'd know that it's MP62, not MP65. And you'd also be familiar with this car and the power it makes. TDR is one of the premier tuners of s/c Miatas.

If this car is close to 300 whp, its got a serious amount of money dropped into it. they also wont get much more then that. These people make it sound like its super easy to do this. The thing I find hard to believe is the above post which mentions 240hp n/a. I can't even imagine how much that would cost.
@MyOpinionMatterss No doubt. I found out the hard way how much miatas cost to build. Too many people also over rate that engine power too often which is why i get annoyed. They think they can slap on a small ass supercharger and get 500 whp like an 03/04 cobra. I cant imagine > 240 whp on an n/a miata O.o 13-1 compression, crazy intake and exhaust.... the targa miata only made like 215 or something like that! that was COMPLETELY built too!

Mine is 248 to the wheels turbo and it wasn't expensive at all, and I didn't even really try... Miata's a great car with a great motor

It sounds like it has a different (shorter) exhaust and/or exhaust manifold aswell?
