I guess it's possible. If you listen to the gunshots heard here and and in the next scene where Renard shoots Stuckler, both have 8 shots, shot in a 6-2 pattern, if you want evidence they may not have been shot and the shots we here are Renard's.
I always think they never were shot, you heard the sound but thankfully didn't see them get shot. Let's think they managed to escape too. There was a delay in the shooting.
I really enjoyed the 3rd series, but felt that this ending spoilt things. Though there's a large amount of death, I felt this was the most pointless one, coming as it does 30 seconds before the end of the series and with no apparent effect afterwards. Whilst it's good that they didn't sugarcoat the war, I found nothing gained by their apparent shooting and something slightly lost. Maybe they could have had Nicole arrive and save them instead of getting shot at the start.
'm watching the re-runs right now on Yesterday. Brilliant stuff! I have vague recollections of when it was on originally, so it's good watching it right from the start again
I remember watching this as a kid on ITV on a Sunday night, also remember that scene and feeling a little sad that Luke & Adele were lined up against the wall and shot.

As I said let's think they were saved. There is no evidence to officially point either way.
