i never herd of this fungus before and i had a african clawed frog before. its the first time ive herd of this. i had a fire bellied frog a long time ago (he passed away when he was years old R.I.P) but they never had any fungus of any sort on them. they were happy healthy frogs and id do anything to keep them healthy. what kind of frogs do you own atm?
I have 2 Pacific Chorus Frogs and I've heard and read that they aren't affected by this fungus. do you know how true that is? I'll be getting my pacman in about a month and was wondering if I should treat it. It'll be 100% captive bred and I think it's parents are too.
i started treating my albino today, hes been getting worse since i had him and hopefully this will improve him, im using a shoebox bin as a quarantine box what should i put in there with him?
This is really good information. I am writing an article on the proposal to put all frogs infected with Bd (Chytrd) on the Lacey Act, making them illegal to sell. I am going to link to your video in it.
Also for my article, if you wouldn't mind, could I ask you a few things, like Do your frogs have Chytrid (did you test) or are you treating preventively? What do you feel about the addition to the Lacey Act and how it will affect the pet trade? And why do you like keeping frogs as pets?
@kipluck I didn't preform a scientific test, but I tought my Cranwelli may have had it based on the consistency of her skin and also becuase I did not know whether she was wild caught or not. I chose to treat the rest preventativly.
2. I'm not sure how I fee about the Lacey act, I'm a firm believer that captive care of animals is one of the best ways to prevent species loss in the wild, that might not pertain to pets though (unsure). I keep frogs as pets becuase I find them interesting and the
@BallPythonLuver It's also been said that the African frogs were brought to California ..years ago for pregnancy test ..before pregnacy kits were made..then they were released into the wild
Great video, short but sweet! I've been wanting a pacman for a while, happy to know there is something I can do about Chytrid.

gsb92606 2 years ago
if you do it wont have a negative effect. If he doesnt seem to be sluggish at all you dont need too. But it cant hurt.

Wow that's sad, seems like people who loved and kept frogs as pets killed off so many in the wild accidently. but really awesome info

It is sad but the way I look at it there are lots of animals in the pet trade that are still alive because of domestication. Like Axolotls
