@Mrfrekboys The engine parts move over the back of the engine to stop air flowing through the back of them. By doing this you are reversing the air flow/cycle that goes through the engine, making it reverse.

The air goes from the front, to the back, pushing it. With the back blocked, it just repells back out, causing the plane to repell backwards.

The engine is not running at all!^^ It's about the reverse flaps, i think. It's not allowed tu run the reverse thrust below a certain airspeed because they will blow up all the dirt from the ground direct into the inlet part of the engine!

The engine's running. In fact, some aircraft (like DC9s) actually use these clamshell thrust reversers to back out of the gate instead of using a tug. Kinda cool to watch them do that.  :o)

reverse thrust is what this video is showing. The flaps change the air flow not change the direction of where the engine is blowing. Oh and everyone knows you stop using reverse thrust at 60-80 knots. And you can't engage reverse thrust in the air.

This is only due to FOD precautions, they will make sure there is no debris around the stand before the test.

Even then, sometimes they are deployed while taxiing to save the brakes, and they are most certainly not in excess of 60 kts then!
