  • So many people try to imitate but can never duplicate the late, great Mackey Feary. He is truly one of Island Music's greatest performers & songwriters. Keep trying all you wanna-be's....LOL!!!

  • Super! Mahalo for posting.

  • i really love this song

  • No pacific islander backyard bbq jam would be complete without jammin the music of Kalapana & C&K, not to mention the respective island chasers like sashimi, keleguen, octupus & of course -beer!! And don't forget the binder with the music sheets !!

  • Every time I come back and listen to, & watch da bruddahs play, and sing, i get so homesick for the islands. I wasn't born there, but if Tony Bennett's heart got left in SF, mine's hangin out in Waimanalo, or Lahaina... I love this music.

  • @StevenCharlesJazz brah, straight chicken skin when i hear this. braddah macky, so good. Hawaii i know you're waiting, always waiting for me to return.

  • One of my favorite songs of ALL TIME!

  • Hawaii is such a melting pot - I'm sure they have a little bit of everything. It doesn't matter - they are awesom and are irreplaceable to the 70's Hawaii Music. Kalapana and C&K Live4ever

  • I also thought they were Filipino . They just look so and they from Hawaii. Though mackey looks like Val Sotto with the golden voice.

  • are they Filipino (Ilocano)?

  • Would anyone know what year this was filmed? His beautiful music & songs will live on but his passing was a true tragedy that is still hard to overcome. It's heartbreaking for all his family & fans that he left behind.

  • Thank You sooo much for posting this. When I was in Hawaii, my dad got this cassette tape. I also listened to Cecilio and Kapono as well. I actually created a character based on this song. ^_^/

  • another song I love from Kalapana

  • You have such a good collection of Kalapana's music. This is the kind of music I like to listen ,where I can just set back and relax, drinking my favorite wine. The intro and background sound of the flute is so beautiful, one of my favorite instrument. Thanks a lot.

  • I grew up to this song playing all da time! Makes me so happy. Thanks so much for posting this!!!

  • Hawaii's very own. I'm glad to see these videos, I still have all their vinyl LPs. Thanks for posting

  • 1987 Island Music Island Hearts! I used to play the VHS tape over and over here in Chicago. Someone gave the recording with Booga Booga guys. It was my only connection with Hawaiian Programming.

    Mahalo from Chicago!

  • It was sad to hear that mackey died. after I heard that he passed away I listen to the kalapana live CD and was amazed how unique his voice was. years later after wacthing these vids. I still think that he has a voice that no one came duplicate.

  • cool,

    we're learning this in chorus!

    (:

    i love this song!

  • This band went completely under the radar in the national scene - 1970's; (top 40). The band was skilled & talented - better than good. The songwriting was fabulous. The meshing of the background vocals with the lead vocalist was a lockdown right-on musical treat to the ears.

  • This is my favorite song by Mackey......the lyrics are so beautiful!

  • Im really glad this song has been documented with Mackey doing lead vocals. I have a sense of relief knowing I can see him play anytime on youtube. In opposition im quite distraught that he has fallen into the trap of the devil drug. RIP Mackey Feary, your legacy lives on with your music.

  • awesome! takes me back to the days of my youth! mahalo for posting this!

  • Unreal!

  • Mackey's great! Kalapana's music is excellent

  • Been listening to kalapana ever since the beginning. Was sad to hear about Mackey. Wish I could find the original Many Classic Moments album on CD. Last album that stays true to the original Kalapana sound. Mahalo Mackey & Malani for all those years!!!!

  • i love

  • this song give me da chicken skin...all time classic...

  • Oh how I miss those days! Kalapana, C&K, Olomana, & so many more of the local musicians.... I was blessed enough to play with many of them in the 70s/80s, and yeah, I don't know why the "Jawaiian" thing became so dominating, squeezing out lots of the beautiful, laid back, grooving music....

  • My deep respect and admiration go out to Kalapana. I was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan in 1975-76 when I bought their first album. Their music blew me away, the tight harmonies, the excellent musiciasnship, pure vocals, the jazz-pop-rock fusion that they mastered. Regretfully, I lost their album moving back to Miami, Florida. Thank God, I found their music again on the net after almost thirty years. Kia ora, Kalapana; Rest in peace, Mackey.

  • Do you know where one could get dvd's or videos of kalapanas concerts? I have the 25 reunion, but nothing else is out on video. aloha bob

  • had the pleasure to watched them live

  • sure miss my home. no music like this on the mainland

  • same here dude hahahahha i can still remember a lot of stuff when i was a kid cuz of this

  • Makes me reminisce my days growing up...

  • We need more musicians like this in today's music scene, nevermind the island reggae!!!!

  • I agree with you! These "Jawaiian" bands out here in Hawaii ALL sound alike. Really boring. I am glad I grew up during the time when Kalapana and C&K for instance were still putting out hits in the islands.

  • RIP Mackey.

  • brings back some memories

  • I love this song i can play that part on my flute :D i miss that show " island music , island heart " :D Kalapana is awsome

  • oh man... this is classic

  • oh helllz yea
