me been i da same type thing.When me and mi fam were flying from Johanasberg (South Africa) TO Sydney (Aussie) the pland went through bad terblenge and the plane was rocking abour and to meke it even scary we were going through lightning and thunder but we still arrived.

It is not always an Airbus... Continental BOEING 767-400 from Rio to Houston? United BOEING 747 from Hongkong to Hawaii? It can happen to any airliner, just depends on which flight is in the wrong place at the wrong time. I wonder if Air France 447 was operated by a Boeing 747 or 777 that night, would the same have happened? Likely.

i think they hit the 'turbulence' over the Borneo Islands between the states of Sabah and Sarawak i think...which is popular with those kind of turbulence..mayb it is more suitable if we call it Air Pocket.Exactly the same thing happened to me on the morning of 3rd.Dec.2005 when i was on my way home to Kuala Lumpur from Istanbul on MH 031 when the aircraft loose altitude suddenly above the Bay of Bengal..9M-MKX(Malaysia AIrlines A330-200).and my seat was only 1 row behind the no.3 emergency exit

There is no such thing as an "air pocket"...  turbulence may have a few different causes, but air pockets are not one of them.
