This is the second video I've seen recently where something RC flies over flames and then loses control... I wouldn't have thought that the updraft is hot enough to cause such damage so quickly but it seems that it is.

Sorry to see you found out the hard way.

Ever put your hand over a candle, damn hot. Imagine a big burn pile. Yeah, I was running wood blades with a plastic coating. The plastic instantly melted, shrivlled up around the main shaft and stopped the blades. The heli just fell out the other side. I replaced the blades, and she flew again.
