  • Michael Lee did excellent as Thuy, but I still prefer Robert's interpretation of the character in the Manila production....too bad I cannot find the video of his performance in YT. The one that is available...the up loader decided to play with it & add bleeps in the video that it ruined it...but you if you mute it, you'll see his impressive acting.

  • Just saw the Philadelphia production, this was my favorite part of the show! (All of a sudden I have an affinity for Boublil and Schönberg)

I just wish this was the end of the first act, it's such a perfect act break.

  • Simply breathtaking.

  • i love how all the audience jump at the gun shot.

    Thankks for posting btw :)

  • i like this story.............

    its so touching

  • i still get goosebumps watching this clip.. :'(

  • i just really want this one in mp3.. does anyboday here have that? coz its not on the cd and i would love to have it on my ipod!

  • @IsisNoaNaomi they have the complete symphonic recording on 2 discs set. it' s a little pricy, but sooooo worth it.

  • This gets me every time. Love it so much, they need to bring it back

  • i'm sobbing.

  • I cannot believe that she was sixteen for this show. or was it Eighteen?

  • @RosesNightengales 17 when Lea Salonga auditioned, 18 when she made her West End debut, 20 when she debuted on Broadway.

  • I still think that Robert Seña is the Best Thuy Ever. He has more powerful voice and best acting ive ever seen. Check out his version on Miss Saigon in Manila.

  • I still think that Robert Seña is the Best Thuy Ever. Check out his version on Miss Saigon in Manila.

  • this is one of my fave scene and song too..thanks for putting the lyrics

  • I am of the opinion that they should make a movie of Miss Saigon. And if they do not, they should film it live onstage and sell it. If not that, then re-open it!

  • did they take the Manila version of this off of YouTube?

  • @marine5546 yes

  • manila is more beautiful and emotion than this because ROBERT SEÑA is there heheh : P

  • totally agree. Robert was the best Thuy I have ever seen. \m/

  • Tam isn't two. He's three. Not that it really matters or anything lol.

  • Yea it doesn't matter, but he is 2. It was 3 years since the Fall of Saigon. You hafta account for the 9 mo in the tummy :)

  • I read somewhere (I forget where) that Tam was born after only 8 months. And looking to the lyrics and the libretto for support, Engineer sings to John that Tam was born in '75, and the libretto says Chris and Kim met April '75. For Tam to have been born during '75, he'd have to be premature.

Furthermore, in that something I read, "Tam" is supposedly Vietnamese for "Eight"

Probably really doesn't matter, but the complex backstory makes for an interesting anecdote.

  • I've seen this musical in London somewhere in the late 90s and still consider it one of the most touching and emotional things that I've seen.

  • Who was Ellen in this production? Do you know? Because I think this is from when Ruthie Henshall was Ellen...?

  • gut wrenching everytime...

  • In Manilia 2000 was much much beter

  • always gives me chills

  • i agree this combined with this is the hour is the most amazing piece of musical thetre..thats why i always gets hooked on miss saigon...

  • Is the Michael K. Lee who plays Thuy?

    btw, thanks for sharing! :D

  • yes, it is michael k. lee..

  • I thought so! He played Thuy at the Muny this past summer.

He and Salonga are so talented. This is one of my favorites too. :D

  • have u seen this one time or wat ? I wacthed it one time THIS IS MY first time watching this it is so funny to watch it lol i bet u that u are nice peopl.....

  • Lea is just the best!!!

  • lea rocks

  • 1:14 sound like the piece my band is playing.

  • hm...it seems i've found a good substitute for sleep from now on...

  • wooohh.... i'm flabbergasted

  • I wish they'd do a revival of it on Broadway, I'd give alot to be able to see that. Also Tam looks too old.

  • omg that made me cry

  • that why nice i bet u are a nice friend

  • 4:07 is intense

  • Gosh i love lea....Shes just amazin

  • Lea is just the best!!!

  • GO LEA!!!! :D

  • She's such a great performer. Too bad for the person who posted this video. The head of the person blocking most of the scene is utterly annoying.

  • did she juz crack at 0:44? yikes. still great tho :p

  • nope...she wasn't singing when she said "survived" she was simply saying the word with much emotion haha...=)

  • agree its one of the strongest moments ..but my heart broke for the show after the showdown between ellen and kim in room317..thats where the colors get black and white and really shows the aspects of the war...

  • This is so moving... I really really love Miss Saigon. You're right aladinjohn07... This scene made me cry too.

  • this is the only footage that made me burst into tears. lea u r amazing!!!

  • Wow. This might be the most powerful song I have ever heard and to see it performed makes me lose my breath.

  • Yes! It almost made me cry :')

  • a better version of the same scene still lea but in the manila production

  • search for miss saigon manila look for the part 2

  • s that lea...?

  • YES THIS IS

  • Loved this scene. It always gives me the goosebumps. Watched Miss Saigon both in Broadway and Manila. Great!

  • THIS SCENE ALWAYS MAKES ME CRY...THE EMOTION IS OVERFLOWING. I SAW LEA PERFORMED BOTH THE WEST END AND BROADWAY PRODUCTIONS AND HERE's WHAT I CAN SAY -- YOU ARE JUST AMAZING LEA!

  • why rock? 'cause you rock Lea! A Filipino pride!

  • I love it best when she sang the lines "you say it's treason.."

  • wow...i just...wow...

do you have the whole show?

  • Wow this version is so electric! Never seen it quite so well brought across as this..no weak links at all.

  • damn, i love lea salonga! and miss saigon!

  • Wow, she sounds way better live than recorded, if that's even possible!

  • I luv miss saigon!

  • Lea Salonga, is amazing! I'm a part philipino! She's amazing!!! Good Job Kim, you just showed your son, how to kill

  • I LOVE her voice, and she's gorgeous! I'm so jealous.

  • Thuy's got an awesome voice, too. Who plays him?

  • That would be Michael K. Lee

  • Thanks muchness!(Sorry, I add 'ness' after almost everything.) Now I know who to look up. And that name reminds me of Witch Hunter Robin.

  • Leo Salonga will live forever in my memory of great performances. I saw this on Broadway in 1991 and frankly she carried the entire show on her frail-seeming shoulders. It may be a recycling of Madame Butterfly, but it's nevertheless a good recycling. I pray someone taped at least one of the full performances. Possibly viewable at the New York Library of the Performing Arts.

  • lea salonga all the way!!!

  • the Original Kim of Miss Saigon. Leah Salonga is truly unparalleled. she'

    s perfection

  • Lea Salonga is amazing. And Miss Saigon is amazing. She was my first true female love of Broadway.

  • i prefer the Miss Saigon 2005 Tour with Laurie Cadevida. Laurie Cadevida is a better belter and actress than Lea Salonga. Laurie was recently nominated for Best Actress in a musical in Australia for 2007 Helpman Awards. It is Australia's tony (Broadway) and Lawrence Olivier Award (London).

  • I suggest you say that after you see Lea live :P

  • I don't mean to sound offensive here but just voicing out my opinion too. Have you seen Lea Salonga perform live yet or watch her Miss Saigon, Les Miserables performances? Laurie's(who?) nomination is not at par with Lea's winning the Tony and Laurence Olivier Awards as Best Actress In A Musical.

  • I absolutely adore Lea, but Laurie's talent shouldnt be underestimated. The Australian 'Kim's are very impressive too.

  • I just saw Laurie Cadevida last Sunday in Miss Saigon in Sydney. She has anice voice but she's rather boring compared to Lea Salonga. She wasn't very dynamic at all- it was like she had just one expression (this sort of pained look on her face :P) . I'm exaggerating of course, but while I liked her I didn't find her v. impressive- just adequate most of the time. Though I do have to say i liked her version of "This is the Hour" than Lea in the Manila production.

  • Jeez! It gave me goose bumps just watching this bad quality video. What more if I see Lea live in theater performing this? I really want to see this live, and Lea with it!

  • I hope my rendition of Thuy turns out that good.

  • omg she is my hero forever.

  • I luv this song. My brother was just in it in my town. It was amzing. The camera sux though. Think about doing something again n redoing the angle.

  • Be happy with it since the show is closed.

  • wow, I never really thought about how high Thuy's part is, he did very well.

  • gives me chills! the combination of lea's amazing voice and her emotion, is just amazing!

  • She's so brilliant!

  • does anyone have kims death...with WIll Chase singing They took off the clip . :(

  • oh i actually didn't think she wept that hard for Thuy right after she killed him... wow that was really intense but it sounded a lot better when I heard it on the CD, more clear and captivating but maybe it's 'cause this is in bad quality lol

  • me neither! now i'm thinking maybe they were actually close in the past since they were set up to get married. maybe she was also shocked that she killed someone.

  • Before I watched the musical, I only ever knew about Thuy's death from how it was from the CD. I thought Kim would just stare at his body, and I'm so glad there was more emotion there. Keith Burns had a really hard and cold voice, and it didn't show at all that he loved Kim. When I watched the Australian version, RJ Rosales showed a much more vulnerable side of Thuy, and only then did I understand. Thuy was also a kid like Kim, and Kim did care for him despite all odds. :,( It's so sad...

  • what a diva! loves it

  • Wonderful, but I was wondering if you could upload the Finale. Thank you!

  • Thanks so much for this beautiful! gosh, she's so good! it really hit me when she screamed in the end while holding him.... hehe Love her!

  • Beautiful!! Thank you for uploading once again.
