Do these things run small blocks or big blocks and how big are the gas tanks? If I recall my big block jet boats would suck a 11 gallon tank dry in an hour easy driving it hard.

@NowLifeStarts They run both small block and big block ford and chevy engines and turbines out of helicopters and trains and 4 cyclinder mercs.. Horsepower ranges from 200-1485.

@Xxslayer410xX Yeah I've raced a few times and when your strapped in you feel like a rag doll. Your arms,legs and head flop around pretty bad. They use foam neck supports inbetween their shoulders and helmet to try and limit all the head roll. After the day is over your drained from all of the adrenaline. The racers call it their fix.

Imagine all the fish you woke up from their mid-day nap... but seriously... how deep is the water? And when going through the rapids sections, does this indicate "shallow" or "rocks" or "?". How do you determine your best path through these sections?

@k0rc The section going through the rock walls is about 70 feet deep. The section through the rapids is probably 3-4 feet deep but loaded with bedrock and boulders. The drivers memorize the sections of river. They don't always get ti right though. The easiest way to remember you way through a section of river is to look for landmarks. Most of the drivers will pick a tree rock outcrop on a hillside to align themselves with the chute of the rapid.

@ mmschweizer the river is closed to all water traffic for about 4 hours while the race concludes. The river is swept twice before the races start and there are numerous saftey and law enfocement personnel on the water during the event.

Actually there are a lot of people hanging out on the banks who just love to hear the boats go roaring up and down the river. Hell the even make a whole day out of it WATCHING THE RACES! This has been going on for over 20 years! The river is closed for a whole 5 hours one weekend a year. Wow that gives you enough time to finish your granola bar and wash it down with your latte' Isn't life grand! Now you can go back and enjoy your simple life!
