  • wow!....you dont see them to often anymore...

  • Is it just me, or is the 37mm gun bent?

  • What a stupid idea for a tank... no turret for the main gun

  • @TheBlindedLeader The Brits love them because at the time their tanks were inferior to German tanks

  • @jackzero99 I don't think anyone loved them they just had no choice

  • @Gavin66627 The Brits loved them in 1942 because the 75mm cannon was the most powerful in Africa until the Mk IV special came along

  • @jackzero99 Nope they hated them as the russians did, they gave their positions away everytime! they were horrible tanks.

  • @Gavin66627 Horrible tanks but better than anything the Brits had at the time to fight the Panzer IV until the Sherman came along

  • @jackzero99 In 'An Army at Dawn' an American former tank crewman didn't like it at all due to 'like driving a cathedral down the road - everybody could see you.'

  • @scarlebloke Of course they were worse than the Sherman, but before that it was better than the Brit tanks

  • @jackzero99 I didn't say the Grant/Lee was a bad tank - in fact the British were very glad to get them and the Grants gave the Germans a nasty shock at Gazala.

  • @scarlebloke But the fact is that the position of the main armament and the layout it imposed gave the M3 Medium some serious tactical limitations. During the second half of 1942 8th Army tank regiments were mixed - one squadron of Grants and two of Crusaders was usual, with the Grants taking on the Germans head-on and the Crusaders using their high speed to work around the flanks of the enemy.

  • so a ugly tank! ^^

  • i thought it was a lee not a grant

  • Some elbow grease, and a bit of welding talent, and it will look, and run well again. Good Save!

  • Is there a more disgusting tank in the world?

  • @Kal50BMG Sadly, yes, a lot of them. There's a Japanese tank in a California junkyard that makes this look like a Rolls-Royce.

  • The top 37mm turret is bent.

  • @7SwitzerlandAustria7

Talking to the Owner a few yers ago, he said it was a gift from the Wheatcroft collection, found in a river if memory serves.

Quite appropriate for a project like this.

  • The 37 that is, not the turret or tank.

  • @vonpoop that lee has seen better days......

  • i like that tank.

  • at 0:01 was that a mortar chuchill on the right?

  • Churchill AVRE with Petard Mortar.

Didn't run that day, merely emitted the most ear-splitting backfires.

  • thnx I forgot the name of it good video BTW

  • can any1 tell me how much it would cot to buy one of these tanks???

  • THat grant is the strangest looking tank..2nd to the Russian tank w/ the 50 million turrets on it...

  • I understand this waas found on a target range, hence the extra ventalation

  • oh oh Lol churchill tank wana see that runin but cool to see the grant to

  • freakn´ugly shit ! no chance even vs PzKw III (i have to know this :D)

  • Very true, but it had a hull mounted 75mm gun which the allies desperately needed in North Africa. And they were available in numbers,

  • That is piece of junk ;/

  • for runner of the sherman

  • have you seen any Cromwells at these events?

  • Not in standard gun-tank form but If memory serves there's a couple being properly restored in the UK at the moment. Several Chassis have just been sold by Finland (in Charioteer form) and a fair few seem to have come to the UK too, so fingers crossed.

  • They had some on one of those Band of Brothers episodes, the one when they were in Holland, course those could've been replicas, like the Tigers they used were fashioned from Russian tanks, but they did a good job making them look real

  • Yeah I was impressed by the replicas they used in the Band of Brothers, but the Cromwell did look genuine. If they filmed in Holland it wouldn't be too hard to get one from one of their or Belguim's musuems though.

  • WWhere are all these live tank videos taking places? Gosh I'd give a lot to attend a convention like this...SOmeone write me and let me know? Thanx

  • I'm afraid it's nowhere near Dallas mate, these ones are from the British Tank Museum at Bovington's yearly 'tankfest' days. We're spoilt for choice for restored armour in the UK these days with shows like Beltring & Detling. I'm sure there are similar events in the US (Fort Knox springs to mind?) but we really are lucky with the variety we currently have over here.

  • I have heard of the tank museum in Bovington. They have the only running King Tiger and Tiger 1 in the world... what an awesome sight that must be! Thanx for your note!

  • They have a unique running Tiger I but I believe the only running Tiger II is in France at Saumur, though one in Switzerland is being restored to running condition and a British collector has announced he's got one in the pipeline.

  • the Panzermuseum in Germany also has a running King Tiger..does the one at bovington actually run?

  • No mate. Though they have now got the Shrivenham Henschel one parked alongside their somewhat rarer Porsche turreted one.

  • oh my god its a collinder on tracks lol

  • Grants aren't that bad, they were the things that held back the Germans untill the sherman was devised.

This one looks like she's got the optional air conditioning!

  • oh i hate Grants....by the way the tank standing next ot it in the begining it;s a CHurchill
