Here's an interesting fact for you bear/tiger debaters. Predators don't generally fight each other due to the high risk of injury, and for a predator an injury can be as lethal as a "killing bite". In nature size is everything, there will be a great show of strength and power with perhaps some very distant sparing. But the smaller animal will almost always give way, and sometimes return for the leftovers. If both animals are evenly matched, then it will depend on which can intimidate the other.
But a full out fight between large, powerful killing machines is so rare (unless they're the same specie and it's mating season) it's not even worth mentioning. But, for argument sakes lets say a full size brown bear and tiger were to go at it. The advantage is with the bear, it will be far larger and more powerful than the tiger, and the cat will have to get close. But that doesn't mean the cat's a pushover, it too is a terrifying killer. The one that gains the advantage, wins. End of debate.
I'm happy to see that people like my fly/spider confrontation that does nothing but ridicule this idiotic show. A couple of points to those involved the heated debate regarding the tiger/bear thing. Proof read what you post, "Kodiaks weighing more than 1000kg" and "Bengals are probably larger than Bengals" are 2 examples of bad errors in posts. If you want to state facts, then be factual. And the use of profanity or slander will definitely cause you to lose points in the debate arena. Peace.
@IamMarrow Thats right. But some hang on to the fact that Tigers on rare occations kills cubs. And even more rare do they kill grown (but small) females while they are hobernating.
In a head to head fight, a Tiger is no match to a fully grown Brown Bear.
Tigers are not that much better fighters than male Lions. And large male Lions got destroyd easily during pit fights in California 130 yrs ago. They never had a chance and Bears won e v e r y time. And they won easy.
@Norwegian733 People never survive tiger attack, but in my country many people are attacked by Big Brown Bears 300-500kg. And they survive. Tiger much faster and have deadly bite. Tiger destroys male lions as well.
@1337inzock People often survive Tiger attacks! Do you know anything at all about this???? Tigers tend to give up if a man can fight more than 30 seconds. In India they have done lots of research about this and have found that they actually get scared if there is a brawl for to long. And they dont have stamnia at all, so they run away if they dont get a killing bite right away.
Suggest you go and read 10- 12 books about this before you make any more comments!
@Norwegian733 you are just a tiger hater because you are from Norway and the only deadly animal you got is Bear. I have seen siberian tigers with my own eyes in the wild. You don't mess around with them. Those big cats are have crazy speed and jump length and can kill a bear without going into close fight. The tiger is too fast, not even the biggest Bears have a chance against Siberian Males. The Bengal Tiger will also put up a fight against a Bear.
@1337inzock No, I dont hate Tigers. I just dont like Tiger freaks that are lying. I dont give a flying fuck if you have seen them with your own eyes. Consentrate on FACTS. And facts tell us that average sized grown Brown Bears are much stronger fighters than Tigers and they have nothing to fear from them. They are not to fast in a fight. They are to fast if they run away so the Bear cant catch them. Bengals are probably larger than Bengals on average. You didn`t even know that.... Djeeeez...
"Recently on the Sikhote-Alin Biosphere Reserve, he and Quigley discovered a similar situation. A 400-pound (180kg) male Siberian tiger (Dale) had developed an even stranger preference for just one prey; BROWN BEARS. Although red deer and other game were readily available, this cat stalked and ate BEARS almost twice as heavy as itself."
Track Of The Tiger: Legend And Lore Of The Great Cat. Maurice Hornocker. San Francisco.Sierra Club Books, 1997.
@w0wyourbun1 Are you still comming with that BS- story of Dale?? Dale did not ever take any Brown Bears twice his own size. Dale were in fact tracked by The Siberian Tiger Project and they stated quite clearly that he did take Brown Bears, but they were small females (less then 110 kg). Not once did Dale kill a Brown Bear larger than himself.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Norwegian733 If you don't mind i'll take the word of Maurice Hornocker the biologist who tracked "Dale" along with John Goodrich and Dale Miquelle over your bullshit.
Elk, wild boar and sika deer, and roe deer make up about 80-90% of tiger prey across tiger range, with smaller animals such as badgers and raccoons, and larger animals such as black bears and even BROWN BEARS being occasionally taken during the SUMMER months. One radio-collared tiger stuided by WCS ATE MORE BEARS than anything else, at least during the SUMMER months.
Summer months meaning bears at their peak. Not hibernating bears.
But there are several cases of Brown Bears killing large male Siberian Tigers.
When Brown Bears follow the unlucky Tigers in order to take their food away, sometimes the Tigers makes stupid mistakes and try to defend their food. Then they get killed. Not even one single case the other way around. Why do you think that is?
A Tiger is able to outrun a Bear, but a Bear cant outrun a Tiger. And still there are no cases of Bears killed. Try to figure that out....
An adult and normal sized Brown Bear (170- 180 kg +) has nothing to fear from Tigers. Not even Tigers at 200 kg.
Most Brown Bears killed by Tigers are cubs. Secondly its small youngster females mostly while hibernating. I can assure you that a 200 kg male Brown Bear will have its way if it wants to get the kill from a 200 kg Tiger. There is no way a Tiger will try to fight such a foe and risk a brutal death.
@rapsodierap Depends. If they dont have any interest at all, they will not seek a fight. Neither will a Tiger.
But Brown Bears often seek out Tigers and follow them in order to take away their kills from them. They seek the confrontation and intimidate the Tigers to leave. In those confrontations there are lots of cases of Brown Bears killing large male Siberian Tigers that did pick up a fight.
@Norwegian733 Siberian Tigers (being the largest and most powerful cats on the face of this Earth) can and would kill a fully grown male brown bear, if they needed to.
If the tiger is hungry enough, they will kill for food.
Tigers have been known for killing elephants. Tear the trunk open and let it bleed to death.
No offense to your "bear defending speech", bears have nothing on tigers, especially Siberian Tigers. :]
@EliteMario85 You are way out of your knowledge zone. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
A Tiger does not have a chance at all to take down a fully grown male Brown Bear. Thats just hilarious to claim. Read about it. And NOT Disney magazines.
They dont kill grown healthy Elephants.
Sorry, but you wont be able to make me beleive your lies. I know to much about this.
@Norwegian733 You, sir, are retarded. Tigers can and will kill fully grown HEALTHY elephants if they are HUNGRY enough. I don't feel the need to explain myself further. If you must, do a little more research because you definitely don't know about this, as you claim. If you feel the need to continue believing what you want, then continue doing so. In the meantime, do not reply. Ciao.
@EliteMario85 I dont care about Elephants. Its not relevant. An Elephant is not a fighter. Btw, dont give me BS about Tigers can take down grown healthy Elephants. Its RUBBISH!
I have read more about Tigers and Brown Bear relationship than you and your whole family put toghether. Every scientific study based upon real events are clear that fully grown Brown Bears at normal size are to strong for any Tiger. There is not even ONE documented Brown Bear over 170 kg killed by a Tiger ever.
@1337inzock You must be a dumb clown. I guess you know nothing about the Moon because you are from the Earth.... A normal sized Brown Bear (inland and not coastal Kamtchatka Brown Bear) weigh much less then 300 kg. The largest males may weigh 360 kg in the Sikhote- Alin area.
And I know more about Siberian Tigers than you know about pussies you little punk.
@Norwegian733 I am talking about Brown Male Bears. When they have enough food before they go to sleep in the winter they can weigh up to 500kg. You do know that Kodiak and Grizzly are brown bears? Fucking idiot. They are on normal 500kg+. And in captivity they are up to 800kg.
@1337inzock I`m also talking about male Brown Bears you stupid cunt. They can reach 360 kg in THIS area og Siberia. They do not reach the weight of the more know Kamchatka Brown Bear that are as big as the Kodiak and can weigh more than 1000 kg. Does your tiny brain understand this??
Just read the reports of "The Siberian Tiger Project".
"Of 6 cases reported in Sikhote- Alin, 3 were Himalayan and 3 were Brown Bears. However, ADULT Brown Bears can weigh over 300 kg and will often appropriate kills from Tigers, and have also been reported to kill Tigers over food disputes".
All the scientific reports I have read is clear on the fact that Tigers do not mess around with adult Brown Bears unless its very small females (less then 110 kg) and mostly while hibernating.
Next time on Animal Face-Off watch how the fly lures the spider into a trap by pretending to get stuck in the spider's web. The spider, not realizing the danger, takes the bait and attacks. But to the spider's surprise the fly counter attacks. Using lightning quick speed, dazzling footwork, and numerous head fakes, the fly confuses the spider long enough to hog tie it with it's own silk. But the fly's not done, it finishes off the spider with a lethal blow to the head with a baseball bat.
That's so fake. Bears are afraid of tiny dogs and wolverines. There's no way a bear would be charge a tiger. I hate discovery channel. Bunch of bullshit.
I don't care what anyone says. theres a video on youtube of a cougar fighting off a grown grizzly bear, and it's real footage. I'm pretty sure if a cougar could hold it's own against one, then a tiger thats like 3 times the size could definately fuck one up if it had to. Unless you're talking that one in a thousand grizzly's that actually grow to be like 12 ft tall. Polar bear could get em though, they're hard as fuck
@yobro250 I dont care about Lairweb and I dont use the site as a documentation. Why do you even talk about Lairweb?? I havent....
The programme I linked to based their info on the well documented pit fights in California for over 100 yrs ago. They have reference from newspapers covering the fights and the book "Californian Grizzly" wich also describe the fights. Grizzlies won every fight and they won EASY.
@Norwegian733 How many times does your stupid nationalistic ass need to be told...That is based off of the web site Lairweb a FRAUDULENT FAKE WEBSITE..Their is NO documentation for anything on the Lairweb site
The only true documented Bear vs Lion fights involve a tame Bear losing to a Lion in a staged fight..A big 750lb Brown Bear Beating a Lion in a staged fight in England & a 750lb huge Black Bear fighting a Lion in a small circus enclosure( favors the larger animal) to a draw
@Norwegian733 The fact that u believe "Lairweb" says it all.."Bears shattering the skulls of Lions with a paw swipe" LMAO!! What kind of moron would believe that? Bears don't kill with paw swipes!..And even if they did( which they don't) the claim is absolutely absurd..Shatter a lions skull with a paw swipe..lmao!
Also the bone density claim is completely false.I can post a recent study on bone density and the Lion and Grizzly Bear scored almost exactly identical in bone density
@Norwegian733 Their's ZERO evidence for anything on the Lairweb site.Bears kill prey usually by breaking the neck. They use their paws to grab hold of an animal and then they shake rapidly until the neck is broken. They don't throw sonic paw swipes of doom like that retarded website is claiming. And shatter a skull of a Lion with a paw swipe? LMAO you have to be retarded to think thats possible..Even a 1800lb Bear isn't strong enough to do that
@BADASSCHICK215 thats the point of the show, to have animals which dont live in the same habitat to face off and see who would win in a hypothetical situation
And Brown Bears do quite often in spring follow Siberian Tigers in order to take their food after they make a kill. And Tigers will most often have to give it up.
@Norwegian733 You are a moron and you have no idea what you are talking about..I saw your idiotic comment in the Sloth bear with cubs chasing off tiger video..Anyone with knowledge on animal behavior knows this happens ALL the time..Females with cubs are extremely formidible opponents that frequently bluff larger attackers into retreating...Thats why you see 300lb female grizzlies with cubs chasing off 800lb male grizzlies...and small female cougars w/ cubs chasing off larger bears
@yobro250 I answered how a fight ( and a fight IS a fight and its not relevant that one chose not to fight at times) will end. I based my answer on all my knowledge of statistics og historical fights and the strenght and weaknesses of the animals.
Dont even try telling me I dont have a slue. I know more about the realtionsship between Brown Bears and Tigers (based on actuall statistics of fights in nature and in captivity) then you know about you own dick. So dont give me any BS.
@Norwegian733 No you don't dummy..You just support bears due to nationalistic pride...Bears are found in Norway so you're going to be a butthurt nationalist and overrate your native animal..You know absolutely nothing about animals/animal behavior/ general biology/
If Lions lived in Norway you would be saying the same things about them as you are Brown Bears...Pathetic.
Hilarious!! I know more about the bahaviour of large cats and Bears than you ever will. Things you have claimed so far is rejected as bullshit. Its a saying that fits an unintelligent guy like you; "Its better to let people think you`re not intelligent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". So my advise to you is: keep your mouth shut! You cant possibly win this one.
@Norwegian733 Yes Nationalistic pride.....Any rational person who is knowledgeable on predatory animals knows that when the Bear is bigger....it wins.....When the cat is bigger ...it wins.....At equal weights it is a toss up but cats hold most of the advantages.
But you aren't a rational person...You're a typical nationalistic moron who just blindly supports Bears because they are native to Norway...despite the evidence.....How pathetic!
@Norwegian733 As I have stated many times before...When the bear is bigger it wins...when the cat is bigger it wins...When they are the same size it is close but usually the Big Cat comes out on top.
@Norwegian733 It doesn't mean the bear is better than the tiger. In that case a 300lb female Grizzly with cubs is a better fighter than a 800lb male grizzly as they frequently chase off and "beat" Male Grizzlies who are threatening cubs.Females w/ cubs are among the most powerful forces in the animal world&can bluff many larger animals into retreating. It doesn't mean anything about who would actullay win in a real fight to the death.Female Cougars w/ cubs have chased huge bears away
most of the time, I think the tiger will use its paws as a bait, then try to bite the neck if it can, and use tactical retreat if it fail or the situations is too dangerous(u can say tiger runaway like pussy, but if they fight in the cage, tiger dont have anywhere to go, so tactical retreat is more appropriate). while bears, just use it paws to kill tigers. one mistake from tigers, then fatality its get, but the tiger need more than one mistake from the bear to kill it.
bear might have a lot of power but tigers(maybe all the cats family) use their paws to deflect attack. so full force punch to tiger head is unlikely to happen(tiger dont just charge like lions did). tiger also have a hard time to outmaneuvered bear, because bear is fast, not as fast or as agile as tiger but tiger will have a hard time.
bear have strength, paws and thick fur. while tiger have longer teeth, agility and tactical prowess(bear might be smarter but it lacks predatory instinct). I think 6 out of 10 fights, bear wins, but its gonna be a tough fight.bear is strong, so strong that it's strategy is always full force charge. while tiger use its speed, agility and tactical prowess to outmaneuvered bear. and yes, tiger can penetrate bear thick fur.
@rosst2000 Not true. BLACK bears are an occasional meal. Brown bears are very rarely attacked, and even then they are only attacked when young or when hibernating. Adult boar brown bears are never taken. Brown bears quite often confront tigers at kills and usurp the carcasses, killing any tiger that refuses to retreat. There are several of records of brown bears killing adult male tigers (this even happened twice in the year 2000), but not one of a tiger killing an adult male bears.
@josephfitzy270 You're the one with no excuse. There is NO record at all of a tiger killing an adult male brown bear. Not one! Yet the opposite does happen somewhat often. It doesn't matter if a tiger is strong, as a brown bear is more than twice its size and lb for lb has more strength. The brown bear is stronger. If you talk to Dale Miquelle, a leading expert on Siberian tigers and one of few to witness their interactions with brown bears, he'll tell you that brown bear>tiger.
@gungrave10 Good question, and impressive you know that. Bengals and Siberians are actually roughly the same as far as size goes, but Bengals are more aggressive. But aggression isn't always an advantage in a fight; it can lead an animal to be reckless. The way I see it is that the Siberian tigers can't afford to be so aggressive, as challenging a male brown bear is suicide for them. Bengals interact with much smaller bears(sloth/Asiatic black bears). Not as dangerous as brown bears.
isnt bengals is know for its control agressiveness? cautious yet very fierce. they have top notch accuracy too. they kill elephant just for fun and ive seen video of bengals ripping off crocs top neck which is much thicker and stronger than any bear's fur. their agility is just incredible.
@gungrave10 Attacking elephants for fun? That's a very rare occurrence. I think I know what video you're talking about, but the tiger didn't rip anything off, really. It just held the crocodile in a suffocation grip (I should also mention that it was a mugger crocodile, a species of which a 500 lb specimen is quite a large individual). But it might be a different video, I don't know. But Bengals and Siberians have equal capabilities. If a Siberian can't kill it, neither can a Bengal.
Yet, it occured. Really? Well, in my knowledge, tigers never let go it's prey unless they died right? Crocs is very hard to chocke. Even anaconda had a hard time suffocate crocs. And in some cases, the anaconda eats the crocs alive and end up dead when the crocs begin to fight in anaconda stomach. And how the grip on top of the neck can cause the crocs to suffocate.
@gungrave10 Tigers actually let prey go a lot more than one would think. According to an estimate in Schaller's "The Deer and the Tiger: A Study of Wildlife in India", less than 1/20 hunts end in success for them. Crocodiles are hard to choke, that's why they tend to go after smaller ones. There has never been one documented case of a tiger killing a grown male brown bear, even one that's hibernating. Fighting one face-to-face is suicide.
If the prey manage to run, yes. Usually, tigers will chase them about 100 feet, and if that fail, they will let go. But, when the tiger caught their throat, it will never let them go. Thats what I mean in my previous comment to show that the tiger actually rip off the croc neck.
@gungrave10 I see what you mean now. But it's not very likely that the tiger would even reach the neck of the brown bear, seeing as how the bear has highly powerful and dexterous arms to protect it.
Yes, that right. The only way tiger will manage to grab bear's neck is by evading to the sides and attack. Bear has dexterous arms but not his whole body.
Bengal Tigers Often Kill People For No Obvious Reason. But It's Mainly Because Either Food Is Scarce, When Tigers Become Sick, Injured Or Old. But The Sick, Injured Or Old Thing Mainly Comes To Siberian Tigers. Even Though The Bengal Tiger Is More Likely To Kill Or Even Eat People.
@josephfitzy270 Faster? 37mph against 35mph. Big whoop. No, brown bears are stronger than tigers. I've already proven that. You can't prove otherwise. If you do look at Wikipedia, you'll see that tigers almost always attack hibernating brown bears. It also says that researchers have identified "satellite bears", which follow tigers over long time periods, sequentially usurping kills.
P.S. Are you saying you think you know more than a premiere expert on Siberian tigers?
Yeah, But The Tiger Is More Stronger. The Bear Is More Fatter. And Also, Siberian Tigers Mostly Kill Bears When They Are Suprlus Killing. The Siberian Tigers Can Quickly Kill Bears By Running To The Bear, Then, The Fat Bear Lies Down And Gets Bitten On The Neck.
@josephfitzy270 Once again, you just keep claiming but don't back it up in any way. You CAN'T prove that the tiger is stronger. I have already proven otherwise. Surplus killing? They're forced to make more kills when brown bears TAKE food from them. Tigers CAN'T stop them. You really think a brown bear is just going to lay there and let the tiger kill it? Wow. Unbelievably idiotic. You just keep on making things up with no evidence. Talk to me when you can prove your claims.
The Tiger Can Kill Female Bears. But Not The Males? Now I Understand. The Adult Male Bears Cannot Be Killed By Siberian Tigers After All. I'm Not A Idiot Anyway.
@josephfitzy270 Wikipedia also says there are records of brown bears killing adult male and female tigers, as well as tigers whose age and gender weren't specified, in self-defense or defending cubs (the bears were sows) and in disputes over kills or for consumption (boars). In Russia, pro hunters have stated "When an adult male tiger and an adult male brown bear meet in the wild, as a rule, the bear would win the fight." They've seen these fights. The brown bear wins more often.
Eurasian Brown Bears Do Not Have Any Defence Against Siberian Tigers, Ussuri Brown Bears Are One Of The Most Preyed Bears. The East Russian Bear Is Most Hardest To Kill, Possibly Either The East Russian Bear Is The Most Carnivorous Of The Brown Bears Or It Could Be Because The East Russian Bear Is The Most Largest Bear In Russia, Besides Polar Bears. Polar Bears Are The Only Bears That Do Not Get Killed By Siberian Tigers.
@josephfitzy270 Again you're lying. There is not one record of a grown male brown bear being killed by a tiger. Not one! At least TRY to prove your statements. You've already lost all credibility.
this is bull tigers are to quick nd can easily dodge heavy swipe from bear then using legs dis embowel teh bear + trust me that bear should be the one getting stalked
@2k9bobo Actualy no bears are stalking tigers as we watch these videos. Bears track tigers over a mile away and wait for them to kill something then run them off from there kill, thats more then well documented. Also watch tigers fight after the ambush fails, they dont dodge, none these big animals actualy dodge they just go into each other. Its not like a house cat fighting wich can jump 6feet in the air equivalent to 6times its hieght, theyre to big to expend energy on in and out movment.
@2k9bobo You need to learn more about how fast a Brown Bear actually are. In a close fight, the Tiger will not be able to just jump away in the air to get away from swipes. The Tigers weapon is its teeths. A swipe from a Tiger wont do anything else then make a Bear even more angry. A Brown Bear has both its teeths and the paws as lethal weapons.
It's all about how they fight. WOlves survive because of their speed, endurance and by fighting as a unit. Cats use stelth, slashing and biting. Bears fight head-on, slashing/smashing, crushing. Now if a 1200 lb. grizzly took on a 2000lb. Cape Buffalo, I would put my money on the Buffalo. However if same Buff. was going against a lion or tiger, I would go with the cat. However doubt the same cat could take the bear. In any case evenly matched predators, as rule, leave ea. other alone.
@The2guard Not even at all (read my other comments). You cant compare the different animals and conclude that because one beat the other, the other would lose, etc. A Bear has fighter skills the cats cant come around.
The Bears are totally dominant in fights with all cats. Just look at the facts from f.e. "The Siberian Tiger Project" and how these animals interact with eachother.
@Norwegian733 Fair enough, there is no absolute truth here. All I'm saying is if you take a huge S.Tig (600 lbs.), and pit it against a huge griz (1200-1500 lbs.) my bet is on the bear, I don't even think it would be close. Sm bears on the other hand would be killed.Fact is, in N.America grizzlies have survived, 000's of years (much as they are) while S.tooth tigers, american lions, the much bigger short-faced bear, died out. Archeology has shown that all these species lived together at onetime.
How ridiculuous. Bears fight with their fore-legs (which they can slash with the speed of a tiger but with a lot more power) and use their weight to overwhelm it's opponent. This bear looks like it's trying to dance with the Tiger. Big bear vs big Tiger, would bet my life savings on the bear to end it in heart-beat. No disrespect to S. Tigers, but If the cat people could see how explosive, powerful and fast even the biggest bears are in nature, I doubt there would be these arguements.
This is a crappy animation, showing animal fight like men, get knocked out then coming back after getting a second wind. Doesn't happen like that in nature. The most dimwitted here argue whether or not the fight was rigged (they actually think it's for real, this is scary!
There are well-documented numerous cases where adult brown bears were killed by Siberian tigers and some cases where an adult Siberian tiger was killed by a brown bear.
The 2 predators are rather evenly matched (In real world)
@dharmanova The animation is dumb, but the outcome is correct. They are not evenly matched in nature at all. The Brown Bear rules the taiga and males are known to even follow Tigers in spring and take their prey from them. The Tigers only prey on cubs and very small female youngsters (mostly while hibernating) on rare occations. Largest documented killed by Tiger was a fat youngster female at 170 kg, killed while hibernating in winter. Grown male Bears have nothing to fear even while hibernating
@dharmanova Well, if you really look into the statistics, you will find that Brown Bears killed by Tigers are mostly cubs and secondly small youngster female (mostly killed while hibernating) weighing less then 110 kg. And killed by surprice. There are not documented cases of grown male Brown Bears killed by Tigers. But there are cases of large grown male Tigers killed by Bears over food disputes. Brown Bears ins inland Siberia (Sikhote-Alin) are small. Rarely over 250 kg.
Since african lions and tigers dont naturally come in contact with each other, all we have is scientific data and research. All thre data and research done by biologists and zoologists states the the african lion would own the tiger. Tigers are built to hunt, Male lions are designed for one thing - FIGHTING other large predatores. No contest :)
@cpzbrown It is a rather well-known fact that Siberian tigers hunt and kill adult brown bears, somewhat regularly. There are many documented adult brown bear kills by a Siberian tiger both by Soviet and Russian authorities, lots of photos of adult brown bear carcasses with Siberian tiger's tooth and claw marks, as well as witnesses
There are also documented cases where an adult Siberian tiger was killed by a brown bear. So an outcome of a real bear vs. tiger encounter is never predetermined
@m109r67 It wont try attacking even a 500 pound Brown Bear while hibernating. They have observed male Tigers abruptly turning away from dens after discovering male Brown Bears hibernating there. Thinking of how easy Grizzlies won over large African male Lions during pit fights held by californians, the outcome would be quite similar with Tigers. The Tigers are not much larger at all, and Bears won with such a great margin (in fact easy) that it would not matter.
i seen an error, I've seen a big bear break a moose's neck by smacking him. I figure if a bear can do that to a moose then a bear can do that to a tiger. therefor this match must be rigged.
@wootsilot No, the bear won, so it wasn't rigged. Nevertheless, on the Animal Face-Off game, it says a lion would beat a brown bear 9 out of 10 times, but on the show, the Siberian tiger lost to the brown bear. Makes no sense.
@davidspade200 thanks for clearing that fact. i couldn't watch it all the way through I got all pissed off. the fact that the fight was not over as soon as the bear smacked the tiger or lion or whatever the fuck that thing is. it must be rigged. get it? but i understand your argument because lions naturally lose to tigers.
Have you noticed..Any video (fake animated) with a tiger fighting who ever made the vid like discovery, will make the tiger lose but really the tiger would win in a real fight :P
@davidspade200 haha ive seen a REAL videoof a tiger taking on and beating two lions hahaha but n0 comment on who would win with a bear ill have one once they got a REAL video.......REAL.
@DicKlodaLOVE They say a lion would beat a hippo, but they also said that hippos have been known to kill lions in the wild. And they don't explain why the lion would win.
They say a lion would beat a walrus, but once again, they don't explain how a lion would win.
And on the lion vs. rhino, lion vs. hippo, and lion vs. walrus parts, they don't sound confident about the lion.
@LegendsOfTheLost same with the lion. One strike from a brown bear would break a lion's back. So, when Animal Face-Off stated that a lion would win 9 out of 10 times, but then they made the bear beat the Siberian tiger on the show, they were being biased.
No sir, I've hunted Brown Bears several times in the Russian Far East and I've had three different guides tell me that a large boar (male Brown Bear) does whatever he wants and that there isn't a tiger in its right mind that would even challenge him. PERIOD! In fact one of them has seen a boar take a tiger apart. Believe it
STOP BITCHING ALL OF YOU!!!! You all make us who like this show seem like idiots. Yes the tiger would have won, and it is silly. But It's a damn good show and I'm planing on making a tribute to this awesome show.
@Dragonzord571 I like the show too. However, they were biased for the lion. Chekck out the Animal Face-Off game. They say that a lion would beat a brown bear 9 out of 10 times, but on the show, the tiger lost to the bear. They say that a lion would beat a rhino, but a rhino would beat a tiger, and they give no explanation for either of those face-offs. They say a lion would beat a hippo, even after admitting that hippos have been known to kill lions in the wild. Again, no explanation.
@HUsolidier No, it was Animal Face-Off on Discovery Channel. They don't know their stuff if they think a lion would beat a brown bear 9 out of 10 times, but a tiger wouldn't.
of the large cat breeds, tigers have the shitiest stamina. the tiger just would not be able to maintain enough prowess to actually to damage to a hulking grizzly. And if Enviroment were no option, the polar bear owns all. > .>
Here's an interesting fact for you bear/tiger debaters. Predators don't generally fight each other due to the high risk of injury, and for a predator an injury can be as lethal as a "killing bite". In nature size is everything, there will be a great show of strength and power with perhaps some very distant sparing. Peace.

Its a known fact that big cats stand little to no chance against a _big_ fully grown bear.
IamMarrow 1 week ago
@IamMarrow Thats right. But some hang on to the fact that Tigers on rare occations kills cubs. And even more rare do they kill grown (but small) females while they are hobernating.
In a head to head fight, a Tiger is no match to a fully grown Brown Bear.
Tigers are not that much better fighters than male Lions. And large male Lions got destroyd easily during pit fights in California 130 yrs ago. They never had a chance and Bears won e v e r y time. And they won easy.
Norwegian733 5 days ago
@Norwegian733 People never survive tiger attack, but in my country many people are attacked by Big Brown Bears 300-500kg. And they survive. Tiger much faster and have deadly bite. Tiger destroys male lions as well.

@1337inzock yeah tigers and lions are always fighting each other
Leprechaunsquad 4 days ago
@1337inzock People often survive Tiger attacks! Do you know anything at all about this???? Tigers tend to give up if a man can fight more than 30 seconds. In India they have done lots of research about this and have found that they actually get scared if there is a brawl for to long. And they dont have stamnia at all, so they run away if they dont get a killing bite right away.
Suggest you go and read 10- 12 books about this before you make any more comments!
Norwegian733 4 days ago
@Norwegian733 you are just a tiger hater because you are from Norway and the only deadly animal you got is Bear. I have seen siberian tigers with my own eyes in the wild. You don't mess around with them. Those big cats are have crazy speed and jump length and can kill a bear without going into close fight. The tiger is too fast, not even the biggest Bears have a chance against Siberian Males. The Bengal Tiger will also put up a fight against a Bear.
1337inzock 4 days ago

Prey:
Elk, wild boar and sika deer, and roe deer make up about 80-90% of tiger prey across tiger range, with smaller animals such as badgers and raccoons, and larger animals such as black bears and even BROWN BEARS being occasionally taken during the SUMMER months. One radio-collared tiger stuided by WCS ATE MORE BEARS than anything else, at least during the SUMMER months.
Summer months meaning bears at their peak. Not hibernating bears.
I'm so good.

Norwegian733 2 weeks ago
@Norwegian733 A bear would definitely fear a tiger. They tend to avoid confrontation.
rapsodierap 2 weeks ago
@rapsodierap Depends. If they dont have any interest at all, they will not seek a fight. Neither will a Tiger.
But Brown Bears often seek out Tigers and follow them in order to take away their kills from them. They seek the confrontation and intimidate the Tigers to leave. In those confrontations there are lots of cases of Brown Bears killing large male Siberian Tigers that did pick up a fight.
Norwegian733 2 weeks ago
@Norwegian733 Siberian Tigers (being the largest and most powerful cats on the face of this Earth) can and would kill a fully grown male brown bear, if they needed to.
If the tiger is hungry enough, they will kill for food.
Tigers have been known for killing elephants. Tear the trunk open and let it bleed to death.
No offense to your "bear defending speech", bears have nothing on tigers, especially Siberian Tigers. :]

1337inzock 4 days ago

So my advise to you is: keep your mouth shut! You cant possibly win this one.
Norwegian733 2 months ago
@Norwegian733 Yes Nationalistic pride.....Any rational person who is knowledgeable on predatory animals knows that when the Bear is bigger....it wins.....When the cat is bigger ...it wins.....At equal weights it is a toss up but cats hold most of the advantages.
But you aren't a rational person...You're a typical nationalistic moron who just blindly supports Bears because they are native to Norway...despite the evidence.....How pathetic!
yobro250 2 months ago
@Norwegian733 As I have stated many times before...When the bear is bigger it wins...when the cat is bigger it wins...When they are the same size it is close but usually the Big Cat comes out on top.
yobro250 2 months ago
@Norwegian733 It doesn't mean the bear is better than the tiger. In that case a 300lb female Grizzly with cubs is a better fighter than a 800lb male grizzly as they frequently chase off and "beat" Male Grizzlies who are threatening cubs.Females w/ cubs are among the most powerful forces in the animal world&can bluff many larger animals into retreating. It doesn't mean anything about who would actullay win in a real fight to the death.Female Cougars w/ cubs have chased huge bears away

most of the time, I think the tiger will use its paws as a bait, then try to bite the neck if it can, and use tactical retreat if it fail or the situations is too dangerous(u can say tiger runaway like pussy, but if they fight in the cage, tiger dont have anywhere to go, so tactical retreat is more appropriate). while bears, just use it paws to kill tigers. one mistake from tigers, then fatality its get, but the tiger need more than one mistake from the bear to kill it.
gungrave10 2 months ago
bear might have a lot of power but tigers(maybe all the cats family) use their paws to deflect attack. so full force punch to tiger head is unlikely to happen(tiger dont just charge like lions did). tiger also have a hard time to outmaneuvered bear, because bear is fast, not as fast or as agile as tiger but tiger will have a hard time.

bear have strength, paws and thick fur. while tiger have longer teeth, agility and tactical prowess(bear might be smarter but it lacks predatory instinct).

NavyDogfish 2 weeks ago

how abot bengal tigers? suberian is the biggest but bengal is the fiercest
gungrave10 2 weeks ago
@gungrave10 Good question, and impressive you know that. Bengals and Siberians are actually roughly the same as far as size goes, but Bengals are more aggressive. But aggression isn't always an advantage in a fight; it can lead an animal to be reckless. The way I see it is that the Siberian tigers can't afford to be so aggressive, as challenging a male brown bear is suicide for them. Bengals interact with much smaller bears(sloth/Asiatic black bears). Not as dangerous as brown bears.
NavyDogfish 2 weeks ago
@NavyDogfish
isnt bengals is know for its control agressiveness? cautious yet very fierce. they have top notch accuracy too. they kill elephant just for fun and ive seen video of bengals ripping off crocs top neck which is much thicker and stronger than any bear's fur. their agility is just incredible.
gungrave10 2 weeks ago
@gungrave10 Attacking elephants for fun? That's a very rare occurrence. I think I know what video you're talking about, but the tiger didn't rip anything off, really. It just held the crocodile in a suffocation grip (I should also mention that it was a mugger crocodile, a species of which a 500 lb specimen is quite a large individual). But it might be a different video, I don't know. But Bengals and Siberians have equal capabilities. If a Siberian can't kill it, neither can a Bengal.
NavyDogfish 2 weeks ago
@NavyDogfish
And how the grip on top of the neck can cause the crocs to suffocate.
gungrave10 2 weeks ago
@gungrave10 Tigers actually let prey go a lot more than one would think. According to an estimate in Schaller's "The Deer and the Tiger: A Study of Wildlife in India", less than 1/20 hunts end in success for them. Crocodiles are hard to choke, that's why they tend to go after smaller ones. There has never been one documented case of a tiger killing a grown male brown bear, even one that's hibernating. Fighting one face-to-face is suicide.
NavyDogfish 2 weeks ago
@NavyDogfish
If the prey manage to run, yes. Usually, tigers will chase them about 100 feet, and if that fail, they will let go. But, when the tiger caught their throat, it will never let them go. Thats what I mean in my previous comment to show that the tiger actually rip off the croc neck.
gungrave10 2 weeks ago
@gungrave10 I see what you mean now. But it's not very likely that the tiger would even reach the neck of the brown bear, seeing as how the bear has highly powerful and dexterous arms to protect it.
NavyDogfish 2 weeks ago
@NavyDogfish
Yes, that right. The only way tiger will manage to grab bear's neck is by evading to the sides and attack. Bear has dexterous arms but not his whole body.

NavyDogfish 2 weeks ago
@NavyDogfish
Yeah, But The Tiger Is More Stronger. The Bear Is More Fatter. And Also, Siberian Tigers Mostly Kill Bears When They Are Suprlus Killing. The Siberian Tigers Can Quickly Kill Bears By Running To The Bear, Then, The Fat Bear Lies Down And Gets Bitten On The Neck.
josephfitzy270 2 weeks ago
@josephfitzy270 Once again, you just keep claiming but don't back it up in any way. You CAN'T prove that the tiger is stronger. I have already proven otherwise. Surplus killing? They're forced to make more kills when brown bears TAKE food from them. Tigers CAN'T stop them. You really think a brown bear is just going to lay there and let the tiger kill it? Wow. Unbelievably idiotic. You just keep on making things up with no evidence. Talk to me when you can prove your claims.

Its not like a house cat fighting wich can jump 6feet in the air equivalent to 6times its hieght, theyre to big to expend energy on in and out movment.
girtrute 2 months ago

The2guard 2 months ago
@The2guard Not even at all (read my other comments). You cant compare the different animals and conclude that because one beat the other, the other would lose, etc. A Bear has fighter skills the cats cant come around.
The Bears are totally dominant in fights with all cats. Just look at the facts from f.e. "The Siberian Tiger Project" and how these animals interact with eachother.
Norwegian733 2 months ago
@Norwegian733 Fair enough, there is no absolute truth here. All I'm saying is if you take a huge S.Tig (600 lbs.), and pit it against a huge griz (1200-1500 lbs.) my bet is on the bear, I don't even think it would be close. Sm bears on the other hand would be killed.Fact is, in N.America grizzlies have survived, 000's of years (much as they are) while S.tooth tigers, american lions, the much bigger short-faced bear, died out. Archeology has shown that all these species lived together at onetime.
The2guard 2 months ago
How ridiculuous. Bears fight with their fore-legs (which they can slash with the speed of a tiger but with a lot more power) and use their weight to overwhelm it's opponent. This bear looks like it's trying to dance with the Tiger. Big bear vs big Tiger, would bet my life savings on the bear to end it in heart-beat. No disrespect to S. Tigers, but If the cat people could see how explosive, powerful and fast even the biggest bears are in nature, I doubt there would be these arguements.

@Norwegian733 i still stick with a good fight rather than dominate considering how strong tigers are

The 2 predators are rather evenly matched (In real world)
dharmanova 3 months ago 2
@dharmanova The animation is dumb, but the outcome is correct. They are not evenly matched in nature at all. The Brown Bear rules the taiga and males are known to even follow Tigers in spring and take their prey from them. The Tigers only prey on cubs and very small female youngsters (mostly while hibernating) on rare occations. Largest documented killed by Tiger was a fat youngster female at 170 kg, killed while hibernating in winter. Grown male Bears have nothing to fear even while hibernating
Norwegian733 2 months ago

No contest :)
darthmik1967 3 months ago
The bear would win. Tigers and Lions have weak skulls. One hit from the bear would break it and kill the tiger
cpzbrown 3 months ago
@cpzbrown It is a rather well-known fact that Siberian tigers hunt and kill adult brown bears, somewhat regularly. There are many documented adult brown bear kills by a Siberian tiger both by Soviet and Russian authorities, lots of photos of adult brown bear carcasses with Siberian tiger's tooth and claw marks, as well as witnesses
There are also documented cases where an adult Siberian tiger was killed by a brown bear. So an outcome of a real bear vs. tiger encounter is never predetermined
dharmanova 3 months ago
@dharmanova Depends what breed of bear it is.1500 pound grizz,,Don't think a tiger would even attempt to kill one of those beast.
m109r67 2 months ago
@m109r67 It wont try attacking even a 500 pound Brown Bear while hibernating. They have observed male Tigers abruptly turning away from dens after discovering male Brown Bears hibernating there. Thinking of how easy Grizzlies won over large African male Lions during pit fights held by californians, the outcome would be quite similar with Tigers. The Tigers are not much larger at all, and Bears won with such a great margin (in fact easy) that it would not matter.

@cpzbrown You`re right.

the bear won. awesome

i seen an error, I've seen a big bear break a moose's neck by smacking him. I figure if a bear can do that to a moose then a bear can do that to a tiger. therefor this match must be rigged.
wootsilot 3 months ago
@wootsilot No, the bear won, so it wasn't rigged. Nevertheless, on the Animal Face-Off game, it says a lion would beat a brown bear 9 out of 10 times, but on the show, the Siberian tiger lost to the brown bear. Makes no sense.
davidspade200 3 months ago
@davidspade200 thanks for clearing that fact. i couldn't watch it all the way through I got all pissed off. the fact that the fight was not over as soon as the bear smacked the tiger or lion or whatever the fuck that thing is. it must be rigged. get it? but i understand your argument because lions naturally lose to tigers.
wootsilot 3 months ago
@wootsilot What I'm trying to say about Animal Face-Off is that the bias for lions is clear.
davidspade200 3 months ago
@davidspade200 ...? inaccurate, biased, rigged, stupid, false what is the difference?
wootsilot 2 months ago
Have you noticed..Any video (fake animated) with a tiger fighting who ever made the vid like discovery, will make the tiger lose but really the tiger would win in a real fight :P
Smalls579 3 months ago
@Smalls579 It's because Discovery Channel is so biased for lions.
davidspade200 3 months ago
video should be labeled fake tiger vs bear.....like if u agree
DicKlodaLOVE 3 months ago
@DicKlodaLOVE No, it should be labeled "Animal Face-Off - Bias for the lion. They think a lion would beat a brown bear, but a tiger wouldn't."
davidspade200 3 months ago
@davidspade200 haha ive seen a REAL videoof a tiger taking on and beating two lions hahaha but n0 comment on who would win with a bear ill have one once they got a REAL video.......REAL.
DicKlodaLOVE 3 months ago
@DicKlodaLOVE Check out the Animal Face-Off game. Don't you think they're biased for the lion.
They say a lion would beat a brown bear 9 out of 10 times, but on the show, the tiger lost to the bear.
They say a lion would beat a rhino, but a tiger wouldn't. They don't even explain why a lion would beat a rhino, or why a rhino would beat a tiger.
davidspade200 3 months ago
@DicKlodaLOVE They say a lion would beat a hippo, but they also said that hippos have been known to kill lions in the wild. And they don't explain why the lion would win.
They say a lion would beat a walrus, but once again, they don't explain how a lion would win.
And on the lion vs. rhino, lion vs. hippo, and lion vs. walrus parts, they don't sound confident about the lion.

You need to put "CG" in the title.

The bear has a thick hide and its strikes are extremly devastating. So I figure one good slap and the tiger will go down

Believe it
williamcbo 3 months ago
@williamcbo How big are the brown bears in the Sikhote-Alin?
And another thing, you need to tell the experts on Animal Face-Off that a bear would also take a lion apart.
davidspade200 3 months ago
@williamcbo yea thats a brown bear what about a grizzly they have no problem ripping apart a tiger
imamdarkness 3 months ago
STOP BITCHING ALL OF YOU!!!! You all make us who like this show seem like idiots. Yes the tiger would have won, and it is silly. But It's a damn good show and I'm planing on making a tribute to this awesome show.
Dragonzord571 3 months ago
@Dragonzord571 I like the show too. However, they were biased for the lion. Chekck out the Animal Face-Off game. They say that a lion would beat a brown bear 9 out of 10 times, but on the show, the tiger lost to the bear. They say that a lion would beat a rhino, but a rhino would beat a tiger, and they give no explanation for either of those face-offs. They say a lion would beat a hippo, even after admitting that hippos have been known to kill lions in the wild. Again, no explanation.
davidspade200 3 months ago
@davidspade200 Exactly where do they state a lion would beat a rhino, hippo and a walrus?
IamMarrow 3 months ago
@IamMarrow Animal Face-Off Game on Discovery's website.
davidspade200 3 months ago
@Dragonzord571 They say that a lion would beat a walrus, and once again, they don't give an explanation for that.
As for face-offs that aired on the show, I agree with all of them, but lion vs. tiger.

@BlackimusMaximum dude this is animal planet. Im pretty sure they know stuff like this and it makes sense cause bears r stronger and smarter
HUsolidier 3 months ago
@HUsolidier No, it was Animal Face-Off on Discovery Channel. They don't know their stuff if they think a lion would beat a brown bear 9 out of 10 times, but a tiger wouldn't.
davidspade200 3 months ago
of the large cat breeds, tigers have the shitiest stamina. the tiger just would not be able to maintain enough prowess to actually to damage to a hulking grizzly. And if Enviroment were no option, the polar bear owns all. > .>
jsomerville85 3 months ago
u people are fucking stupid..a bear would rape a tiger anyday...have some common sense..bears are bigger and more powerful
